The accommodation was exactly as advertised

Don’t do it you deserve better
Ten minutes to centre of town
Stained carpets, extremely poor house keeping and springs would twang as you moved on the bed.
Shower was useless and the road is so close that when a large vehicle passes by the bed bounces a complete waste of money

Dreadful place don’t bother because the can’t be bothered either.
Within walking distance to town and all supermarkets. That’s the only thing good about it! Highly overpriced
The electric shower is useless, bathroom has mould on the walls and the carpets are stained and need a good clean. Who ever does their cleaning needs sacking! Kebab meat was on the floor next to the bedside cabinet possibly from last occupiers or even beyond. I put the please service my out to get room cleaned and bins emptied and it was ignored. Honestly if you’ve got £267 to spend on a room burn it rather than give it to this place.

Dirty bedding, need good cleaning
Nothing
Unfortunately, this accommodation was far below an acceptable standard. The common areas and corridors were extremely dirty, with stained and worn carpets and a generally neglected feel. The cleanliness throughout the building was poor and it felt unhygienic from the moment we arrived.
The worst part was the bedding. The duvet/cover was visibly stained (yellow marks and additional coloured stains), which strongly suggests it hadn’t been properly cleaned or changed. This is completely unacceptable and made the room feel unsafe and unpleasant to sleep in.
Basic maintenance and cleanliness standards were not met. For the price paid, I expected a clean and comfortable environment, but instead the experience felt run-down and poorly managed.
I would not stay here again and would not recommend it unless major improvements are made to hygiene and housekeeping.

Basic
The outside photos did not look anything like the property and the description of the courtyard was very misleading

Fabulous, will definitely stay again
The location was fabulous. The room was clean and spacious. There was a kettle, tea coffee etc. There was also a phone charger.
The bed could have been a little more comfortable but it was OK.

Admiral Blake rubbish accommodation
There is nothing to like there.
Very dirty, mould in the bathroom, damp on walls, dusty, and spider web on the floor and walls.
This was the worst accommodation I've ever been.
I've booked for a week, and no wonder why is nonrefundable because once you are there, you lose money if you go earlier.
Very dirty, mould in the bathroom, damp on walls, dusty, and spider web on the floor and walls.
It is very cold on the bathroom as there is no radiator.
The bathroom door mortice was broken, and there was nobody to talk with. When I arrived, the key was in the room. I've sent a message through the app to inform them about the brocken door and ask for the invoice and nonreply.

Cheap and clean, but noisy at night.
Good location. Quite near to town, and the overnight parking on the Sainsbury's carpark. The room and bedding were clean. Hand soap and towels provided.
We were unable to connect to the free WIFI. There were details of 1 network and password posted on the inside of the room door, and details of another network and password shown on a card left on the dresser top. We tried both network names and both passwords, and all possible combinations, but could not connect.
We sought consolation in the Netflix app on the TV, but, having signed in, there was insufficient bandwidth to load anything. We gave up after 5 minutes stuck on 25% loading.
Although the bed was comfortable, the room proximity to the main road meant that we were plagued by the sound of boy-racers' loud car exhaust noise until the early hours. unfortunately, and I suppose that this is just due to bad luck on the night, the occupants in one of the rooms above us seemed to be suffering from insomnia, and kept us awake for most of the night with the sound of conversation, heavy footfall, creaking floorboards and the frequent opening and closing of windows and doors - there is no sound-proofing in a building of this age, I suppose.
If you are a light sleeper, this accommodation might be one to avoid, despite the appealing room charge.
The electric shower controls were really difficult to manage. When first turned on, the water temperature was enough to blister your skin. A small adjustment to reduce the temperature made the heat go off completely, causing the water to become ice cold. It took a good 5 minutes of micro-adjustments to find a setting that could be tolerated. We have the exact same shower model at home and have never had trouble setting the temperature like we had with this one. I suspect that it had a faulty thermostat.

Friendly and welcoming hosts in a great location, but the room was below standard for the price.
I stayed at the Admiral Blake Guesthouse in Bridgwater on Saturday 1st November for the famous Bridgwater Carnival. I booked through Booking.com at a cost of £200 for one night.
Before arriving, I phoned the manager to ask about parking and was advised to use the train station car park, which was only a short five-minute walk away, very helpful advice. When I arrived around 1:30pm, I was greeted by Phil and Fred, who were both incredibly friendly and welcoming. They offered great local tips on where to eat, and later in the evening provided chairs out the front to enjoy the carnival, along with complimentary food, a lovely touch that added to the experience.
The guesthouse has a relaxed, homely feel, and I really appreciated the hosts’ enthusiasm and knowledge about both the carnival and the history of the property.
Overall, Phil and Fred’s hospitality and the carnival experience made the stay memorable, but I do hope management reviews their pricing policy and the cleanliness of the rooms to better reflect value for money.
I was quite disappointed by the room itself. It appeared tired and in need of a good clean, with visible cobwebs and some mould in the bathroom. Thankfully, the bed was warm and comfortable, and the shower worked fine, so I did get a decent night’s rest.
What really let the stay down was the price. Paying £200 for a room that usually costs around £45 feels unreasonable, even allowing for the carnival weekend. I understand that prices often rise during special events, but charging more than four times the normal rate felt excessive for the standard of accommodation provided.

It was ok but not great
It was close to where I needed to be
The room smelt musty like someone had smoked in there previously as we are non smokers it was more obvious there was something spilt across the mirror that housekeeping missed and also the beds were uncomfortable could feel the springs but for somewhere to get ya head down for the night it was ok I was disappointed that I had asked by messages a few times about reserving parking but was ignored we had to find parking elsewhere it did feel more like a hostel and didn’t see any staff to speak to about any of it

Noisy room. But facilities/room was acceptable.
Very good location. Close to where I needed to go. The McMillan Theatre. Very comfy bed. Room far bigger than I needed but did want a private bathroom.
Only problem. I was in a road room. Room 11. The traffic was constant. Probably one of the main routes through Bridgewater. I am a light sleeper and like a window open. It was quite noisy all night. Request a rear room if you like a quieter night.

Ease of check in is definitely a perk along with the smart Tv, Bedrooms are little on the basic side but very comfortab
Loved how easy and quick check in was, the rooms are adequate for what was needed, smart tv’s in every room. The hotel is dog friendly which is perfect and great for us.
Shower thermostat was broken and it went from freezing to scalding hot in 25 seconds and did this for the entire time in the shower.

Went home straight away having wasted money on accommodation and travel.
Nothing like we expected photos deceiving.
Not clean, there was a smell throughout, we were on a busy main road no adequate parking, the room was next to the entrance would not feel safe staying there toilet facilities not clean tea and coffee available but kettle underneath the cupboard . We didn’t actually stay and left after about 30 minutes very upset with the condition of the accommodation was looking forward to a weekend away.

Close to the center of town. easy walking distance if you arrive by bus or coach.

Helpful, as we had a dog.
The proprietor was very helpful. Our bed was comfortable.
The hotel was looking like it needed a complete redecoration. Very difficult to park near the property.
Room security poor door locked but window no security meaning anyone could open window from kitchen into the room. No fan or ventilation so had to sleep with open window due to hot weather. Shower drain was blocked and smelt foul no extractor fan in bathroom. Single mattress also saggy! Grim at night!

Good place for a base in Bridgwater.
We didn't see any staff, but we didn't really need to as check-in and out just meant finding or leaving the key in the unlocked room. The room and bathroom were clean, and tea/coffee making facilities were provided. It's only 5 minutes' walk to the town centre.
Our room was on the main road so it could be quite noisy from the traffic. The window appeared to have dropped so difficult to open and close.

Bridgwater stay for one night.
Nice little room next to the kitchen, was tidy and prepared nicely when I arrived. Great little en suite. Only stayed for one night but would definitely use again if I am this way again. Checked in via messages and the same to check out.

I wouldn't stay again for free.
Absolutely Nothing. Clearly the photographs on booking.com are from a very long time ago.
The Location, next to a main road. There is a odour throughout the hallways and the room I was in.
The room wasn't as the photos show, very old and dated, Zero comfort for the bed, old mattress The toilet seat is disgusting, clearly loosing shape and cracked.

Meh
Cheap but could definitely do with sprucing the place up. Mattress has seen better days. Carpet was dirty and the sink was cracked. Toilet seat was wooden and starting to peal and blister from being soaked with you know what over the years....
Cost 15/20 quid for a new and hygienic toilet seat.
C'mon and just replace it.

Helpful host. Beds comfortable. Great to have facilities for cyclists.
On a very busy road so rooms out the back are quieter.

If you want a cheap & I guess cheerful setup without the cheap...
The only good thing abour my room was the fact you can adjust the shower to be powerful
The windows had mould, the unit with the tv had dirt on it. The smoke alarm had a DIRTY SOCK covering it. The mirror in the bathroom would only face down or up, because it's broken. The extractor fan in the bathroom was dirty. Due to the location, unless you have earplugs or are a heavy sleeper, you'll struggle on the weekend as the road outside doesn't go quiet until at least 2:30am. I honestly wish I'd taken more photos.

No frills room for the night
Perfectly acceptable place to get your head down for a nights sleep. For the price and location I think the price is about right. I think some of the reviews have been pretty harsh on a place thats (£59 a night) & in Bridgwater, perhaps feeling a little mislead by the adverts photos? If you're looking for a hotel the Mercure is just down the road, but twice the price. Met who I assume was the owner for a pair of keys who was friendly and very helpful.
I got the feeling the place is probably used by tradies working away from home a lot. Credit where credit is due, the tea and coffee facilities are better than most hotels
Could do with some TLC but certainly stayed in worse places for more money!

Economy Guesthouse: Reasonable but a bit noisy!
The guesthouse is located a short distance from the station and well signed from the road. It was close to local amenities including Bridgwater Retail Park which has a supermarket, other shops and takeaways. The buses linking Bridgwater and Taunton or Burnham on Sea are just around the corner.
The room was clean and adequately furnished with the decor in the main bedroom being fresh and sufficiently modern, though the bathroom is in need of a little TLC and the outdoor windows could do with a clean but everything functioned well and plenty of hot water for the shower. The main room itself was cleaned to a high standard and the bed linen was clean and fresh. The rooms are provided with teas and coffees and a plentiful supply of loo roll and anti-bacterial hand soap.
I was a bit skeptical about the contactless check in before booking but it was in fact very easy - a door code is provided along with a room number. Contact telephone numbers were provided should there be issues - so all in all the contactless system worked very well though might not be popular with those who like the ‘personal touch’, but if like me you like to get checked in quickly and easily, this works very well.
The guest house is however extremely good value in terms of price paid and I think for an economy offering it was more than sufficient. The communications were clear and to a good standard.
Room 11 being at the front of the house and immediately next to the front door was impacted a lot by noise - from the busy main road outside which has a lot of vehicle and pedestrian noise at all hours of the night and from other guests coming and going (including slamming doors) - even with windows closed it was hard to get uninterrupted sleep. In fairness to the hotel, I’d imagine rooms at the back of the property are probably quieter - so if I were to stay again I’d definitely consider asking the hosts in advance about room options. I should point out the noise isn’t something they can easily control - the busy road is what it is however as it affects sleep quality it is something worth noting.
The mattresses aren’t great and the bed frames are lower than average in the room I had - not the worst I’ve ever had but equally not the most comfortable. I think even factoring in that it’s an economy hotel, mattress comfort can be a bit of a deal breaker. As I say, by no means terrible but not super comfy either.
No bathroom toiletries except hand soap provided - though for the price paid this isn’t a big deal though always convenient hen these are supplied.
None of these points would put me off of using the guesthouse again as it was a reasonable economy offering but I wanted the review to fairly reflect observations.
