A totally awful experience!!!

Location

There was a bucket collecting rain water through the leaking roof in the main living area. I was warned in advance that a roof leak had caused minor discoloration, but agreed to live with it. Halfway through my stay, the hot water wasn’t working. I notified them that I needed it to be addressed. After six hours with no response, I had to pack my belongings and move to another hotel. With six days left on my prepaid reservation, they offered a one night refund after several correspondences. DO NOT STAY THERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!

Shame about the noise

Clean rooms. Well equipped kitchen. Enjoyed playing Jenga that was provided.

Very small bedrooms and bathroom. Rooms were hot as on the top floor but with the windows open, the blaring music from the club right opposite made it hard to sleep. Even closing the windows doesn't help much. Additionally, being expected to strip the beds on departure for the cleaner was a bit much!

In need of an upgrade

The accomodation is basic and small. In my view too small for 4 people. Not suitable for families with children. Flat is tired and in need of an upgrade. Double bed matress sinks in the middle and the springs of the bunkbed matresses protrude. Sharp edges to the bed base which caused injury. When removing bedding covers at end of stay as requested, the pillow protectors had multiple yellow staines from previous guests. All furnishings are of poor quality and cheap. Seating is uncomfortable and the kitchen is stocked to bare minimum for self catering items. Flat on a street of several tacky bars which play loud music into the evening/night which can be heard in the flat.

Not up to the standard I expected

The apartment is very small for 4 sharing. First cup I used to make tea leaked everywhere, there was a nasty sticky patch on the bedroom floor, bathroom door didn't lock. The fan (which we needed as it was hot and stuffy) was filthy with built up dirt. One of the kitchen bar stools was wobbly. The bar right across the street has VERY LOUD karaoke nights on Saturdays until midnight - wasn't good for the kids who couldn't sleep. Just wasn't up to the standard I was expecting.

Overall really good

The location is really good, right in the middle of things. There was a cosy vibe being on the top floor and a good place to come home to at the end of the day.

It was hot and sticky at night, should maybe think of installing air conditioning. Also, maybe provide a dvd/blu ray player.

Great apartment, great location - would recommend

The property was exactly as described and had everything I needed to be able to cook and clean for my family for the week. The parking permit was helpful so I could park for free between 4pm-11am. The location is right in the centre of Matlock so lots of shops and pubs within walking distance and right in front of Hall Leys Park. Being on the main road in a tourist location there is lots of noise from below which I didn’t mind at all. The brothers who own the property left a detailed guide and interesting books and games in the apartment. I would 100% stay here again.

Parts of the property could have been cleaned better and on stripping the sheets the day of check out, I discovered a dirty duvet. I feel brothers who own the property are being slightly let down by their cleaners because the apartment is lovely. My 9 year old son commented that his bunk mattress wasn’t very comfortable but mine in the main bedroom and my daughter’s top bunk were very comfortable.

- Location was great - Lots of pubs to pop in - Everywhere was central - Lots of places to visit within driving distance - Parking permit was unexpected and very useful

- Would be nice to have a washing machine and dryer - Didn't know how to put the hot water on at first but figured out the day after we got there

Good

Clean, modern, hi tech, great shower and fully loaded kitchen. Nicely done. Great parking arrangements, and lovely walk to the rear along the river. Also a cute little cafe hidden at the back near the car park.

Light in hall was on a sensor.... all night! Aaagh! It was fixed really quickly tho. Very noisy on Friday and Saturday nights. No hooks for coats in the hallway, so when it rained we had to lay them on the floor. Also, very limited channels on TV.. Don't mention the stairs!
