Place near UoB, but not the best

I went to work at UoB for a week, so the location was very convenient to me. The shower was nice and the bed was comfortable. The place was warm, but felt a bit too hot sometimes. It had lots of amenities (e.g. TV, fridge) but I didn't use them.

I was expecting a studio flat, not a studio room in a shared house, but that might have been on me. My room (number 2) had a weird smell and felt somewhat humid and hot most of the time. Thus, I slept with the window slightly open for a couple of nights and got sick. The neighbors and the house itself (like crackling) were very noisy. The WiFi signal was poor but did work.

Good bed, clean linen. Very well located next to the uni and bus stop.

It was not particularly clean in my room, and there was for example an old milk in my fridge. The pictures are from common areas, in the room there is an old carpeting and a roof window.

Awful.

The property initiated a immediate refund

Nothing. We didn’t stay. Was smelly of toilet and drugs. Inhabitable place wouldn’t even let a dog sleep there. Very bad. There was cr***heads outside do the property smoking. Also catfish. Wasn’t spacious at all.

It was fairly clean

The bed was very lumpy The floorboards creaked badly above, so every time the people upstairs moved it would creak really loudly Not the fault of the host but the area was particularly scanky with rubbish bags, mattresses and tat all over the streets, I felt scared to leave my car parked up

A stressful experience.

No breakfast, however we did not require this.

The check-in times were standard between the hours of 3 PM until whenever, which was helpful. However, upon arriving at 00.35 AM, the code provided by the host for the lockbox was incorrect and the lock box we were given would not open. We tried the other lock box to see if the host had been mistaken, to find that it opened with this code, but it was empty. I appreciated that it was late, but we had no other option than to ring the host to explain the situation. I was told that she couldn't talk on the phone at this time, which was frustrating and proceeded to tell me to hang on whilst she found out why the key was missing. She came back to me within five minutes and provided a new code which then worked. To begin with, this was not an ideal situation, as it was raining heavily, the location surrounding the property was very rough and I did not feel comfortable having all of myself and girlfriends belongings out on the side of the road whilst we tried to gain entry to the property. We finally gained access to the lockbox and retrieved the keys for the building. Panic over, right? We proceeded to enter the property, I handed my partner the keys to Studio no.2 (our accoomodation) and told her to go down the hall and let herself in whilst I brought our bags into the property. My girlfriend found that there were already a set of keys in the door to our room, which we thought was strange. We opened the door and were horrified to find that two people were naked in bed and engaging in sexual acts. They screamed to tell us to get out, so we slammed the door and stood in the shared kitchen. I rang the host to tell her what happened. She apologised and gave us another property 5 minutes walk away from where we were supposed to be staying. It was still raining and was less than ideal to be carrying around our luggage in an area that looked far from safe. The replacement room had the door handle hanging off and the room was boiling hot. The WIFI also did not work.

Good service, ok value, great location but not a peaceful or quiet building.

Affordable. The workers/hosts were really lovely and supportive, easy to deal with, attentive. Nice TV and good shower. Location was great, several Asian supermarkets including a Korean one that had everything.

The listing heavily implied a private kitchen, but this was not the case. I ended up avoiding the communal kitchen because I was too tired to navigate it and worry about cooking and cleaning all at once. The worst thing by far was how aware I was of other guests. They would cook at night, like 1am, 2am, full meals with onion, garlic, peppers etc. Somehow the cooking smells seeped into my room instantaneously, waking me up. I could pinpoint every single ingredient as it hit the pan, thats how bad it was. "Oh someone's frying onions... they've added garlic... now peppers... a tin of tomatoes..." I was on the floor above! The other thing is, there was a rickety staircase up to the second floor above my room, and it was so creaky and crackly that every step sounded like a tree trunk snapping. The person in the room above me was definitely trying to be quiet but every footstep was amplified, their wardrobe sliding door opening sounded lile someone rollerskating across my skull, I could even hear them unzipping their jeans to get undressed. Luckily I had sleep headphones to block out noise. Which is more than I can say for the smells.

Not what it looks like on the site - could have been cleaner - not value for money

The pictures are deceiving - this is not a studio apartment - it is a double room that could have been cleaner. All of the photos on Booking.com were of the shared kitchen (not the apartment) which was not clean and had a full bin, dirty cloths in the sink and a general feeling of shabbiness. It was airless and overly perfumed with air freshener - windows were filthy when drawing back the skylight blind The bathroom was tiny - sink so small that water gushed out on you and your knees touched the wall when sitting on the loo It should have been half the price - And I should have read the reviews first

Good value for money, great location

Great location, easy instructions to access the premisses. The host is very responsive and did help me with my questions and minor issues in a very kind and efficient way.

The internet wasn't great, very slow and i had to work on a presentation. The host told me it was a temporary issue, due to their internet suppliers.

In the images of the studio it showed towels on the bed but there was no towels also the WiFi was really bad and the door got jammed so we couldn't get out till the housekeeper came
