Amazing, clean, comfortable, super kind host

It was an amazing stay. Very clean and spacious apartment with super comfy beds and a nicely renovated shower. Location was also very good, 5mins walk to Oban center. Caroline was the best host ever! She was very kind, very friendly, super helpful with lots of tips about the region and always being ready to help for our questions. We loved Scottish west highlands and will definitely revisit, and when we do that we will go back to Holly Lodge!

Excellent accommodation, brilliant location & top host!

Very modern design, extremely well kept and clean, very thoughtfully designed space. Brilliant location & very accessible - in a quiet neighborhood at the same time you can walk to the town centre easily. The host, Caroline, is such a warm & welcoming person who met us personally upon check-in, was always available on messages and very helpful.

Superb comfort, incredible host!

Holly Lodge is superb! The property is well appointed with contemporary furnishings and well thought out amenities. The location is good for walking into Oban and is quiet and peaceful. We were quite comfortable and felt warmly welcomed by the host, Caroline. She is the best host we have had in our many stays at numerous BnBs, AirBnB, VRBO and other private accommodations. Incredibly thoughtful and helpful, making great suggestions for activities in the area. As Caroline is an Oban resident, she cares that we had an authentic experience to learn more about the area. Again, a truly great experience with Holly Lodge and the gracious host, Caroline.

We took a taxi from the train station and our driver was completely confounded in finding the location. It was more the issue of the driver for their lack of familiarity than Caroline’s directions. Holly Lodge is located on one of the oldest road in the town.

Great stay in Oban.

Loved the whole apartment, very nicely decorated. A welcome basket, a nice touch.Great shower, rooms, and beds were really comfortable. Caroline was exceptional, helping us out with a lift to catch the ferry over to Mull and for communication throughout our stay and before. If visiting Oban again, I'll know where I'll be staying😀

Read the blurb carefully. Beautifully presented and the beds were very comfortable but king size bedrooms does not mean

The beds were super comfortable, and the property was beautifully presented. There were lots of lovely personal touches, which were appreciated. The host was lovely and very helpful with tips on what to see and do.

The instructions on how to get there need to be significantly improved; it should be possible to send a gps position link, for those who are using gps to navigate (the static picture and written instructions are very unhelpful if you are lost). We didn’t realise there would be no common sitting area. We accept we should have read the advertisement more carefully - but the reference to a dining table strongly suggests a common sitting area, not a fold up table at the end of each bed. We thought that misleading. Also - King size bedrooms does not mean king sized beds!

Fabulous

We loved everything, from the moment we arrived until we left. Caroline greeted us and explained everything to us, gave us tips for restaurants and sight seeing, even offered to collect our washing from the laundry if we were not back in time. The apartment is fresh and really clean. Simple Breakfast goods and snacks provided. I hardly ever rate accommodation but just had to rate this exceptional place and its most generous and welcoming host, absolutely fabulous

Delightful, clean cozy two bedroom suite with mini kitchen!

Caroline was a delightful host and very helpful to recommend restaurant bookings and things to do.

It is about a 10 min walk from town so if you arrive at the bus or train station I would recommend taking a taxi with your luggage. Also, if you are planning on cooking, there is not really a proper sink, only a mini kitchen with a fridge and countertop (like a hotel). It was fine for us as we were just making sandwiches, but it is more like a hotel suite than a full apartment kitchen.

Lovely apartment

Host was lovely, welcomed us in and gave us lots of tips of where to go, where to eat etc. Location great as a 5 minute walk into town. Apartment was spotless and although there was no kitchen, there was a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster along with plenty of crockery etc to use.

Great place to walk to ferry terminal

Walking distance to town (15 mins to ferry terminal), nice and clean inside, parking immediately outside, excellent and speedy communication from Caroline both in advance and during our stay when we had questions. In summary: a great place!

LOCATION IS GREAT. CAROLINE IS A FANTASTIC HOST AND SHOULD BE REALY PROUD OF HERSELF FOR WHAT SHE HAS ACHIEVED HERE, ITS REALY LOVELY APARTMENT. CAROLINE WENT OUT OF HER WAY TO MAKE US FEEL WELCOME AND PROVIDED US WITH ALL KINDS OF USEFUL INFORMATION ON THE AREA AND WHATS GOING ON IN OBAN.WE HAVE STAYED IN MANY PLACES BEFORE AND THIS ONE IS UP THERE WITH THE BEST. BUT I MUST SAY THAT THE HOST CAROLINE IS BY FAR THE BEST WE HAVE HAD.

Very clean and comfortable. Modern, renovated bathroom. Really enjoyed how close the apartment is to town. Slept very soundly and found the bed to be very comfortable. Caroline was very helpful and responsive to our questions.

Property was nicely furnished with a lovely modern bathroom. Host was very friendly and welcoming and recommended places to eat.Tea bags, coffee, biscuits etc provided.Good that it had parking space and was within short walk of town although a bit of a hill up for anyone struggling with walking.

It was a bit awkward washing up breakfast dishes in bathroom wash hand basin.

Lovely but not what we expected.

The location was great for accessing the centre of Oban by foot. A 15 min walk takes you right to the waterfront. The property was lovely and clean and very modern. Caroline was a great host, giving us privacy but also on hand if we needed anything..

The 'kitchenette is not really what we expected. Although there is crockery and a microwave, there is no kitchen sink, so all washing up had to be done in the bath. Not ideal. The property is described as detached, but us in fact semi detached, with the owner occupying the majority of the property. This wasn't a problem as Caroline is lovely, but the description is not accurate.

Perfect springboard to a trip to the islands and to eat awesome seafood!

The place is very clean and neat. It’s basically like a big hotel room. The hostess, Carolyn, was super kind and concerned about our needs. Oban is a great little town, with excellent seafood!!!It’s a great place to stop if you want to take a tour to the isle of Iona or Staffa. Would definitely recommend!

Enjoyed staying in this clean, comfortable, attractive and well functioning private house.

The house was squeaky clean, well maintained and had a beautiful decor. We appreciated the little welcome pack of biscuits, drinks etc. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, super tv with Netflix. Location was very convenient with the town being a 10 minute walk away. Nice and quiet and own parking space. Upon arrival the owner was very friendly and helpful and told us to contact her if we needed anything.

We really enjoyed our time at the Holly Lodge. Everything was very clean and the land lady was very friendly. We received a lot of information about local activities and the best restaurants downtown. We really recommend this address and will certainly come back again.

Exceptional

My first visit to Oban in west Scotland was amazing, it is steeped in history and also a beautiful place. I stayed at the Holy Lodge guest house which was situated a 5 min walk away from the main town. My friends stayed in hotels in the town centre which were more expensive, I was very impressed with everything about this guest house, it was literally so clean and spotless inside, very nicely decorated throughout with all the mod cons but in keeping with the property, the lady who owns this property not only was a really nice person who chatted with us each day but she helped us find an alternative fishing trip as ours got cancelled, going the extra mile so to speak. She also has literally thought of everything, even down to the little things you could want when staying away from home, there was a really warm feeling about the place and was also very peaceful there being away from the main town in the evening. I would highly recommend this place to stay if visiting Oban. 12 out of 10 for me. I hope to return soon.
