the whole place was absolutely fantastic, the views, the hosts (big shout out to sara & simon) the breakfast ;~) and the area. nothing was too much trouble and the information given freely by the hosts, as to where to go, see and eat was invaluable, in making our stay with them truly wonderful
there is nothing we didn't like, the place suited us 'just right' we did our research as to where to stay and it certainly paid off

Sara and Simon welcomed us like family members with homemade shortbread and whiskey. The rooms were beautifully decorated. The breakfast was great and delicious. We highly recommend the avocado toast, it was our favorite. Sara and Simon were also very helpful in planning our day trip around Skye. If we ever come back to Skye, we would only want to stay with them.
Unfortunately, the weather during our stay was absolutely terrible, but Sara and Simon definitely can't be blamed for that.

Comfortable and clean.hosts were super helpful and sent lots of helpful tips before hand. Well equipped facilities. There were lovely personal touches in the room including home made shortbread!!
The breakfasts were excellent quality
Important to note patchy mobile signal and that postcode doesn’t accurately get you to property though hosts do send multiple reminders about this

It was very homey and comfortable and plenty of space for us to spread out . The adjacent farm animals were fun. Also great to have washer and dryer and host was prompt and extremely helpful with my questions
If was in the country but still pretty convenient to Castle Urquhart and Lock Ness

We had only two days on the isle of skye, and Achalochan house was the perfect stay. Except for having a lovely family suite with a complete bathroom equipped with all the necessities. The best thing at our stay were the hosts, i don't believe we ever had such perfect hosts attending to our needs and showing us the best places that we can go and see and which especially the kids would enjoy, and cooking the most delicious of breakfast as per our liking. Thank you so much Sara and Simon :)
Nothing to comment on..everything was perfect

What a wonderful place to stay. Simon and Sara are wonderful hosts and made us feel right at home. Sara cooks breakfast every morning, and it is the best breakfast in all of Scotland. The house is situated in a beautiful area, offering a lovely view of the ocean, hills, and adorable sheep. I loved being out of the busy city of Portree. Our room was comfortable and we had everything we needed. Simon and Sara go out of their way to make their guests feel welcome.
We look forward to revisiting the Isle of Skye and staying at Achalochan House.

Our hosts, Simon and Sara are amazing. We had a fabulous 2 days on Skye. Their local knowledge is priceless and we appreciated the emails they sent leading up to our trip, reminding us what we needed to do, I.e. booking restaurants and ferry crossings! By the end of the 2 days we had become friends and we are looking forward to a future visit. Thank you both for an excellent stay!

The apartment had everything we needed and more. We were unfortunate enough to encounter storm Floris during our stay. The hosts, Simon and Sara, offered us the use of their kitchen stove as the electrical supply to the island was cut for hours. Sara even baked some yummy scones for our tea. The hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and comfortable.
The views from the apartment were amazing. A short walk to the beach but we weren’t lucky enough to spot any seals.
Ose is about 10 mins’ drive from Dunvegan where we had a very enjoyable meal at The Old House.

We stayed at Achalochan House for three nights as a family of four and were absolutely delighted with every aspect of our visit. The house is incredibly cozy and beautifully decorated with great style and attention to detail. It radiates warmth and character, making you feel at home from the moment you arrive.
What made our stay especially memorable were our wonderful hosts, Simon and Sarah. They are incredibly kind, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a dram of whisky and a piece of Sarah’s homemade shortbread - a thoughtful touch that made us feel immediately cared for and truly welcome.
We were lucky to stay in the family suite, which was spotlessly clean and absolutely stunning: spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully furnished. It truly felt like a home away from home.
Simon and Sarah also shared fantastic local tips and insider knowledge that helped us discover the beauty of the Isle of Skye in a way we never could have on our own. Their recommendations led us to some unforgettable experiences.
A special highlight was the breakfast: Sarah’s cooking is simply outstanding. Every single dish was delicious and made with such care. It was a real pleasure to start each day with such a lovingly prepared meal. And
we absolutely loved Simon’s homemade chili sauce!
We truly had an unforgettable stay and can’t recommend Achalochan House enough. Thank you, Simon and Sarah, for your incredible hospitality. We hope to return one day!
Nothing to complain about. Everything was absolutely perfect.

Everything was absolutely perfect. Simon and Sara are not only an incredibly friendly, helpful and funny couple but also keep the house neat and tidy, well stocked with great food and make you feel as welcome as family.
The breakfast options and also presentation is on par with a high-end restaurant, the helpful little titbits about the various places to visit and even some honest opinions about things you can miss out on just gave us the best experience on the Isle of Skye.
We would highly recommend Achalochan House to anyone who relishes a warm house, friendly hosts and a culinary experience.
Nothing comes to mind that wasn't 10/10!

Wonderful warm welcome from hosts Simon & Sarah. Home from home experience and their breakfasts are simply world class! First time I have ever had a tot of whisky and home made shortbread as a start to any stay!

We stayed in the loft area. It offered nice views of the bay, comfortable bedrooms each with an en-suite bathroom, and a nice kitchen which we used for breakfasts and dinners. The hosts were wonderful people with great recommendations about places to visit.
Honestly can’t think of anything to improve. Not everyone will like how remote it is, but that is our preference.

Our stay at Achalochan House on the Isle of Skye was a highlight of our month in Scotland. Sarah and Simon are gracious hosts, breakfast is extraordinary, the room is comfortable and immaculate, and the Highland Soap Company toiletries are wonderful. (Had to buy some before we left Scotland.) We loved being away from the crowds in Portree, yet centrally located to everything we wanted to see.
Nothing at all.

We would definitely recommend and hope to be back one day soon. Thank you! X

Simon and Sara provided an unforgettable experience that exceeded all expectations. Their warm hospitality made my husband and I feel like family from the moment we arrived—welcoming us with genuine smiles and thoughtful touches that created a cozy, home-away-from-home atmosphere. The food they prepared was nothing short of spectacular, with every dish bursting with flavor and crafted with care, showcasing Sara's passion for cooking and local ingredients. (The haggis was amazing!) Their sightseeing recommendations were spot-on, guiding us to breathtaking spots and hidden gems we’d have never found on our own. Every detail of our stay was seamless, thanks to their attentiveness and insider knowledge. We can’t recommend Simon and Sara highly enough for an exceptional, heartwarming experience!
I can't think of a single thing that was out of place during this stay.

We loved our hosts, the food, and location. We could come and go as we pleased. We were able to explore all points of the island from this centrally located point. The breakfast was incredible. Sara has a love and passion for food that you can taste in her breakfast. We had a late lunch everyday because she fed us so well.
Simon and Sara were a delight and ready to advise and link us to places on the island and off. If we get to come back, which we very much hope, we would stay here again!
That we wouldn't be there longer

This was our favourite b&b and Scotland by far because of Simon and Sarah who truly made it a fantastic stay. we are two Americans around 30 traveling through Scotland and it felt like staying with our parents
the overwhelming highlight was the homemade breakfast every day made by local ingredients from Sarah. the bed was also comfy and the facilities were incredibly clean and well designed. they Incorporated a lot of local artists and even made homemade tablet and granola. At first I was hesitant to stay on this side of the island so far away from Portree but I really think it was worth the stay given how well Simon and Sarah have designed the guest experience. I would recommend this b&b to anyone going to Isle of sky
I wouldn't say it's a downside but just something to keep in mind is if you book the king room you won't have any lounging area outside of the bed in the evenings. The main area is Simon & sarahs personal home which means they use it outside of the breakfast times for themselves. Just a consideration if you're looking for a place to decompress that isn't a bed. Another small note is that there was only shower gel and not shampoo and conditioner. Once again these are not factors that would prevent me from booking with them again just good to know what you're in for. Once again would say that this property was one of the favorite places I've ever booked on booking.com

The hosts were friendly and made us feel at home. The property is located in a rural area with a majestic 360 view. Once I got the knack of single track roads, I loved the 9 mile cross country drive into Portree.

This was definitely the best place we have been staying at on our round trip through Scotland. The apartment is modern, spacious and decorated with lots of love and taste. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are exceptionally comfortable and the whole place was perfectly clean. In addition, Achalochan House is a great starting point for various trips on the Isle of Skye. We can definetely recommend Achalochan House! Thank you, Simon and Sara, for being such exceptional and warm hearted hosts.

Our stay at Achalochan House was outstanding. Sara and Simon are wonderful hosts. They welcomed us warmly, assisted us to find great restaurants, recommended places to visit, and discussed some of the history of The Isle of Skye and Scotland (and one evening after a walk to the Fairy Pools warmed us up with a sample of the local whiskey). They also prepared and attentively served us a gourmet breakfast, tailored to everyone's taste. Two of us cannot eat gluten, so they provided us with many tasty gluten-free options. The gluten-free pancakes were amazing, more flavourful than any pancakes we have had before, with or without gluten. The rooms themselves were very comfortable: large bathtub and shower; comfortable bed; views of the neighbour's field of sheep, and even of three wild deer one morning; and blissfully peaceful and quiet. Sara and Simon love what they are doing, and they demonstrated it in every aspect of our stay, with humour, conversation and attentiveness to our needs. We would return in a heartbeat.
We loved everything.
