A gorgeous snug cottage that had everything we needed on a rainy weekend.
The beds were massive and very comfy, there were books and games to enjoy and plenty of shops and cafes in Matlock.
Lovely trip
Being from Norfolk the hill! Not much Jo can do about it though and to be fair it wasn't as bad walking up as it looks from the bottom and made for some gorgeous views.
Google took us to the back door which caused some confusion but it was late, dark and raining when we arrived and didn't take us long to figure out that the front was just round the corner 😅

It was perfect for a 2 night stay for visiting Bakewell and the Christmas markets, house and gardens at Chatsworth.
Nothing it was lovely

A lovely clean old cottage skillfully renovated with a caring empathetic owner.
The only point of caution is for anyone with mobility issues. There are steps to different levels and staircases are steep, but then it is an old cottage.
Parking is provided but even with a smallish car access to the designated space is very very tight.
Parking on-street is preferable.

I could not find the property to start with. I had to ring the owner who was very helpful.

What not to like?! A great property with two double bedrooms, nice lounge and well equipped kitchen and bathroom
My car was just a bit too long for the provided parking space. But no realise as there was plenty of parking on the street.

Everything was fantastic, convenient, clean and well presented - thank you. Location was excellent and the guy opposite from the newsroom bar was also really helpful and friendly in helping us park and find venues for dinner and breakfast- we were three motor bikers on tour and didn't fancy the sloped parking area at the rear ( although perfect for cars) so we parked outside of his bar on the road !
Absolutely no complaints at all - it was lovely thanks - ps a small sofa bed might have worked better for us as a group of 3 rather than two large double beds between three of us but it was still fab tks.

Very clean.
Lovely comfortable beds
Excellent communication with the host who provided lots of info on the area.
Would recommend for short stays
Nothing major but worth noting..
Parking very tight
Up a long hill from Matlock town centre.
Cottage on 3 levels with steep stairs between and little storage space

A beautifully decorated cottage with very comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen.
We love it all, but be prepared for the hill climb from the town if on foot.

situation in Matlock.
We had great problems getting our car in & out. the washing powder or conditioner was very strong as I have problems with certain smells. Couldn't sleep downstairs in the very cool room because of the smell.

Lovely, cosy cottage in great location. Really comfy beds and the place was spotless. Close to the shops, cafes and restaurants. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and only wish we’d booked for 2 nights instead of 1. Beautiful surrounding countryside.

Beautiful, clean, cosy cottage. The interior was full of original features and decorated and renovated to a high standard. Enjoyed the tea, coffee, and biscuits. Beds comfortable and linen and towels smelled lovely. Fan in bedroom was useful and enjoyed having a spot to sit outside
Struggled to find it as you as the property is side on to the road, I probably could have done better preparation to check before arrival. Parking for the cottage was awkward, so I only parked there one night and used on road parking the other evening. The other cottage parking was a bit easier to manoeuvre in and out of.
Stairs a bit steep for my parents but it's what you expect in cottages like these.

Superbly clean. Tastefully decorated. VERY comfy large beds. Spacious bedrooms. Fab shower. Cute terrace area. Towels were included (essential for us as we were on bikes). Complimentary coffee/tea/hot choc/sugar/milk/biscuits. Host checked that we were happy with everything.
Just an alert to anyone with mobility issues - internal steps are steep. The bedrooms are beautifully spacious but be aware that one of them is the basement so if you need the loo at night make sure you bag the upstairs room! There was a cute little terrace for an outside cuppa but it overlooked the road so it would be even better if there was seating in the front garden (which doesn't overlook the road). Matlock centre is down a long hill and the nearby pub doesn't sell food BUT....there is a fab takeaway pizza place next door to the pub and the pub owner lets you eat it in the pub if you buy a drink which was PERFECT.

The cottage felt very homely and was clean, the bed was incredibly comfy and the property was very well equipped.
The pillows were a little hard and the wifi was very poor upstairs.

The cottage was absolutely stunning, beautifully kept and in a fantastic location. Absolutely shedloads to see and do right on your doorstep. Jo was brilliant and unbelievably helpful getting us situated and giving us some fantastic tips on the local area.
Nothing at all!

Cottage is cosy with good central heating, kitchen and bathroom facilities and a high level of cleanliness. Well furnished and has spacious and comfortable beds. Host was helpful and easily contacted.
We were lucky in that the attached cottage was empty so could park. But parking would be extremely difficult for two cars as mentioned in the cottage details. There is however on street parking nearby. The cottage is in the higher part of Matlock so a steep hill if walking back from the town. Some noise from local venues on Friday night.

Cosy cottage with nice little garden at front and terrace at side set above the street. Warm when we arrived. Bathroom basic, and more traffic noise than I expected, seems the double glazing doesn't keep it out for some reason. Good value for one night stay. Parking on street much easier than the tight allocated space up the narrow drive.

Heating and hot water was on when we arrived - how nice, such a considerate welcome. Great beds. All amenities we required. Good information from host on places to see, we followed the day trip it was exceptional but we were lucky to get spring sun! A cosy, comfortable cottage.
Parking - it is offered but it is impossible to get two SUVs side by side. For us, we decided to park one road away where there are no restrictions allowing the other holidaymakers next door to have the full use of the narrow drive. It was not a problem.

Such a lovely beautiful cottage. We had complimentary bubbles and treats which was amazing!!! The rooms were huge and the beds were sooooo comfortable!!!!
The postcode didn’t match up perfectly on Google maps so it took us about an extra 30 minutes to find it. Had to stop in a pub and ask for help.

The cottage is lovely and in a great location. Great to have the use of a wood burner . Pop in to the News room across the road .
The bed was damp which meant putting towels on top of the sheet

Everything - very clean and cosy cottage, all the amenities needed and a great location - walking distance to the shops and a bar across the road! Jo mentioned that she bought a new mattress for the bedroom upstairs and honestly, one of the best night's sleeps we've had - tempted to get one for our own home! Can't fault the cottage at all and we'll definitely be back.
That we didn't stay for longer.

Easy to collect keys, owner prompt and clear with information about the property. Good sized rooms and beds with nice bathroom giving option for bath or shower. Kitchen decently equipped. Excellent water pressure.
Kitchen sink is very inconvenient - the tap is stiff and you cannot control the water well, which combined with the strong water pressure makes it difficult to get a steady stream of water and the water often comes out in considerable force, spraying the whole counter (and your own face!) with water. The sink is also small and round making it difficult to wash may items easily. There is a dishwasher but certain items need to be washed by hand and if you need to do a lot o washing upo by hand, the kitchen is not suited to this.

Jo is super helpful and responsive. Cottage is beautiful, lovely little outdoor terrace area too and so well equipped. It's also in the perfect location, close to some lovely bars and a short walk down the hill into the centre. Our second time staying at the cottages and we'll definitely be returning.
Nothing really, only small thing to mention is that the mattress on upstairs bed dipped and a little uncomfortable. Also a steep hill back up from the town but we just jumped in a taxi :)

Parking was not easily accessible

well equipped - extra comfy beds!
The stairs are extremely steep even for the most mobile but it didn’t detract from our enjoyment of the property. There were also a few chipped pieces of crockery that need replacing.

Cosy and beautiful cottage. Loved the quirky features. Gorgeous bathroom. Short walk down to the town centre.
The parking space was a bit awkward for our car so parked on the street nearby.
