A well located cottage in Kirkwall

This cottage is very well located in Kirkwall, within easy walking distance of shops and small supermarkets. It was well kitted out for two people. I think it would be a lot less comfortable if there were four adults staying. It was great to find a basket full of brochures of places of interest in the area.

It would be very helpful if there was an information folder on how to operate the heating and appliances. The hosts offered to come over to help turn on the heating, but it wouldn't be necessary if instructions were provided.

Ideal for two couples wanting easy access to Kirkwall, but NOT good value for money.

Location ideal for visiting Kirkwall, although car parking 75-150m from house. Unloading car possible at door. Food shopping within 50m. House cosy and very compact but with limited space. Secluded, somewhat overgrown very small garden.

Kitchen very small and with minimal equipment and no instruction manuals for anything. No information provided for the premesis, e.g. emergency contacts, local doctor, etc. Heating system was malfunctioning and had to call host several times to rectify the situation. The smaller bedroom was claustrophobic. Tourist Information brochures for Kirkwall and environs scattered through boxes of those for Scotland.

Much enjoyed and a property well suited to our needs for the week

Very good central location and easy for both Kirkwall and trips further afield. The property was well equipped and had all that we needed. Bed very comfortable.

Busy and relaxing at the same time.

The cottage was lovely and very well furnished. The location is excellent enabling the Main Street of Kirkwall readily accessible. The host (John) was very attentive in ensuring our comfort and checking the heating. Thoroughly recommend this property as a must to other island visitors.

Great cottage for a stay in Kirkwall

Lovely cottage in a perfect location for staying in Kirkwall and accessing the town and the ferries. It is large for a two bed house and the beds are huge and really comfortable. In fact, we took down the name of the pillows so we could buy some! There is plenty of storage for all your clothes etc. The kitchen is equipped for everything you need to self cater and there's a little seating area in the garden that gets the sun in the evenings for pre dinner drinks. Parking is on the road but we never had a problem finding a space.

The 10am checkout was quite early but I guess they need time to clean for the next guests.

Great location, friendly landlords, and a home from home.

Victoria Cottage was quiet, comfortable, clean, well equipped and in a great location. The owners were very responsive to any questions. There is convenient car parking nearby, and shops at the bottom of the road (less than 100 metres from the property). Overall, a great place to stay.

Comfortable, decent value self-catering cottage in the heart of Kirkwall

A very comfortable self-catering cottage right in the heart of Kirkwall, but in a quiet side street. Our hosts live only a few doors down and were most friendly and helpful. One of the sets of keys did not work, but was immediately replaced when I drew the matter to their attention. We did not use the cooking facilities or the washing machine, but they seemed entirely satisfactory. I would thoroughly recommend this place. Not overpriced either. A ten minute walk to the harbour and the very helpful Visit Scotland Travel Centre by the bus station.

Apart from a badly cut door key which was at once replaced really I had no issues at all with Victoria Cottage. A very satisfied guest.

Well situated base for discovering Orkney

The house was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay on Orkney. It was lovely and clean. Hazel was very helpful in answering my questions about the heating (a different system than at home).

Comfortable House in a Good Location

Great location ,. New well equipped kitchen. Comfortable lounge room. Good shower. Owner was helpful when I had to ring him a number of times.

Stairs. No toilet downstairs. No instructions about anything. Quite a cold house, the heating was set very low and went off. No throw rugs or extra blankets. Some staples but no milk, salt or matches for the fire.

This house has a super location in Kirkwall. It is warm and comfortable. The owners left us some local produce which was a lovely touch.

Beautiful house, perfect location, excellent host

Loved the house everything you need in kitchen excellent shower super comfy beds clean and well decorated nicely furnished throughout garden area aswell, cant fault it at all, will be booking up to stay again next year, much more homely than hotels , host left us a nice welcome pack of orkney goodies and milk for that much needed cuppa after long journey.

A centrally based location in the centre of Kirkwall. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped.

On arrival, the property owners had very kindly left us a small bottle of milk in the fridge and some biscuits, cheese and fudge. As we were arriving very late in the evening the property owners had been very clear about where to find the keys to the property; where we could off load our bags and park our car; and had also left the heating on to warm the property before our arrival. It is a very comfortable, well equipped and nicely decorated cottage. If wanting to stay in Kirkwall, we would certainly recommend 8 Victoria Road, Kirkwall.

Not much really. The cottage is well equipped, nicely decorated and comfortable. Maybe some instructions left in the property on how to operate the oven and central heating would have been useful. Otherwise, we were very happy staying there and the property owners were very easy to contact if we had any queries. They are very friendly and helpful.

Deze locatie ligt aan de rand van het rustige centrum van Kirkwall. Parkeren was gratis, winkels restaurants en de kathedraal alles op korte loopafstand. Toch een rustige straat en de tuin was een extra bonus.
