Nether Onston Cottage

We are a family of 4 from London. We stayed 3 nights. The host left us fresh eggs (from their own chicken), milk, bread coffee and tea. Communication was very easy and clear. The location is awesome, you can see the Ring of Brodgar from the garden looking out over the salt water lake. The standing Stones of Stenness are 5min away, Stromness is good for food shopping, strolling through the pretty streets and has a nice pub (Ferry Inn). Sara Brea and the beach there, Marwick Nature Reserve and the Brough of Birsay are a must! Watched the eclipse from the garden!

Lovely owners who gave us fresh eggs twice, a working farm so captured the imagination of my son. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts. The cottage is always warm and was spotless on our arrival:)

Was a lovely quiet location with everything we needed close by. Cottage is very well appointed and we thoroughly enjoyed staying here.

There is nothing we could fault.

Location excellent. Property clean and well stocked. Log fire with enough wood for a burn. The complimentary bread, eggs and milk to tied us over was a god send. A comments book gave us some additional ideas of places to go. Lots of pamphlets of local interests and a few books and games for rainy days.

The prospect of having to add money to a pay meter if it had been cold enough to need to use the wall heaters. Wall heaters ineffective unless on a very high temperature and therefore very costly, the oil filled radiator we brought for our camp on the 2nd week was far more efficient. Strange drain smell from the bathroom. Some black out blinds in the bedroom for those of us not used to only 5 hrs of night.
