Short but nice one !

Stay was OK but some of the basic facilities can be improved

Decent size room that we got with side sea view. Very clean and close to the beach.

Facilities in the room could have been better. There was no tea, coffee facility in the room, not even glasses for water. There was no drawer in the cupboard. There was a strong sewage smell coming from the bathroom. We were only provided two small bottles of water during our welcome. Breakfast could have been improved a lot. Breakfast options were limited. Nobody would like to eat cold breakfast specially the omelettes and poach. There was no bus stop near the hotel. So you have to walk up/down to go to the Saranda embarkment.

Great modern comfortable clean hotel.

Clean. Modern. Cool. Comfortable. Can change the ring tone on your doorbell. Had a fridge. Good shower. Staff were great. Close to the beach. Lovely little balcony.

Had to be careful with the shower otherwise the water went all over the bathroom (the pressure was great!) Shower could use a shelf. Tea and coffee making facilities would be excellent.

Small, family business hotel in a quiet location

A new hotel in the family business. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. The rooms were well equipped and we had a beautiful view of the sea. The hotel is located in a quiet area of Sarandae. The center is within walking distance 15-20min. Our stay included breakfast, sun bed and parking slot.

The breakfast could have been more varied.

The breakfast was lovely with a great selection. The location is fantastic located close to the beach and a short stroll in to the centre. The family that owns this are wonderful people and made us so welcome.

A holiday to forget !!

I must say, this hotel was an absolute disaster. Every morning, we had to wait for a frustrating 10 minutes just to get our breakfast since there were barely 4 tables to sit down, and the outdoor area was cramped and tiny – definitely not what you'd expect from a supposed 4-star hotel. To add to the disappointment, there was no private parking available on the property. They parked our car far away, leaving us feeling anxious, especially since we had an expensive car to worry about. What truly troubled us during our stay was the presence of a few of the owners' friends, who showed up daily and occupied the tables, being incredibly loud and disrespectful towards us, especially my wife. Despite appearing friendly at first, the owners were utterly unhelpful and ignored any requests we made. The hotel was always noisy, and during breakfast, neighboring cars stirred up so much dust that it made eating a truly unpleasant experience. The hotel's location was a complete disaster – far away from the center. Even worse, the sunbeds were not included, and the owners directed us to a beach that charged a ridiculous 20 euros per umbrella, while other beaches closer by were much cheaper. All in all, our stay at this hotel was nothing short of a major letdown.

This hotel doesn't deserve 4 stars

Room is modern.

-We were not happy in this hotel. When I was reading a review from 15 days ago it said that sunbeds were included but apparently that was an exception. The only reason why we booked this hotel is because the beach is near and because supposedly sunbeds were included but only if you pay 15€ per day because this hotel doesn't have a beach. In case you want to use public beach you'll have to walk 25min in one direction because this hotel is almost at the end of Sarande. -Access to the hotel is terrible (around 45° slope). Parking is not near hotel either. -Eggs were burnt pretty much every morning and breakfast is always the same (there are not many options either). -Hotel didn't respond to booking support messages after the complaint. Basically in case you have a problem don't expect a hotel to respond in time. -We didn't have access to hot water all the time. I'm not even sure if I said everything but this hotel definitely doesn't deserve 4 stars.

Definitely recommend!

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It’s brand new, quite stylish and modern. Room has enough space and we had quite a large balcony. Staff is super friendly. Breakfast is a good value for money. Location is also nice: not a center, but quite and close to nice private beach. Definitely recommend!

Look no further - this is a gem in Sarande

Hotel Portanova far exceeded our expectations. This accommodation is located in a central location - literally a 2min walk from the beach. It is also close to the city center, but not too close - a perfect balance of a nice evening walk and not being too busy. The hotel itself is super clean and modern. This was one stop on our multi-week trip and was easily the most comfortable bed we slept on. The pillows were great - we especially loved the heavy pillows - fantastic! The bathroom was also super modern, everything worked as expected. WiFi was great, very fast, you can tell that the owners did not skimp on internet speed. Parking was great - the hotel staff helped us out and we felt very safe leaving our car. Breakfast was great as well. Now to the main highlight of the hotel - the hosts! This is a family run business and the owners are some of the most wonderful people we've ever met and that can be felt throughout the hotel and the entire stay! They were there for our every need. We will definitely be staying here again when we next visit Sarande and the area. We will be recommending this hotel to all of our family and friends.

Terrible Experience

It has been an utter disaster. The hotel description had promised parking at the property, but to our dismay, there was no parking whatsoever. They audaciously took our car and parked it somewhere far away from the property. It gets worse. The police were frequent visitors at the hotel due to the owners being so aggressive, especially the tall one, engaging in constant fights with another individual over the parking situation. The police was there all the time. This happens cause they lie about the parking, and I remember them having fights with other guests about this issue. This individual recklessly sped through the property, narrowly missing the tables where we were seated. He shouted at them for obstructing his path and rushed in the reception to start fighting, adding to the multitude of problems they faced. To top it off, the there was constant noise from the nearby construction zone only added to our woeful experience. Overall, it was an exceedingly disappointing and disheartening ordeal.

Bad Hotel Experience

I had a really hard time finding the hotel, and it was really disappointing after searching around Saranda for almost two hours. When we got to the room, we found out it was on the ground floor, where the car lights kept flashing, loud music was playing, and the people sitting at the nearby tables were being really loud and annoying. We tried to find a quiet place outside the room to relax and get some fresh air, but there wasn't any. Everything around the hotel was just concrete. We couldn't wait for morning to come so we could leave because this whole situation made us even more tired. The owners of the hotel were pretending to be friendly, but it annoyed us because they didn't do anything to make us feel better. It was a really terrible experience, just like our first day in Saranda.

Amazing hotel and staff

The hotel had the nicest staff, which makas very friendly atmosphere. The view on the sea was amazing the bed is comfortable, breakfast was tasty. We asked them if they could prepare small breakfast for the last day because we were leaving early and it was no problem to do so.

In front of the hotel there were some construction works so that kind of ruin the view but it is not the hotels fault

Flawless service and friendly staff

The hotel is very clean, modern and the rooms are well furnished with everything you need for your stay. The highlight of our stay was absolutely the staff - they were extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. They even (totally unprompted) organised a cake for my birthday which fell during our trip! Cannot fault the service at all. We also liked the location - although it’s not totally central, and there’s quite a bit of building work going on around it (which is happening all over the city) the main promenade is just a short walk away, and the walk is very safe, well-lit and lined with local shops and cafes etc. Thank you Hotel Portanova for a great first experience in Albania.

The access road was a bit of a challenge due to building works, but this seems to be the case for most of Saranda as it’s in a big period of growth!

Superb

Brand new hotel & the rooms are great. The owner & employees are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Would definitely recommend.

It's about a 15 min walk from the port/main area but it's easily walkable & means it's much quieter at night. There are also beaches and restaurants nearby so no need to walk into town if you don't want to.
