Edinburgh Travel Guest House

The staff was nice, the room was really spacious for two people, it had everything we needed, and everything looked new.

The location isn’t the best; you have to walk a bit to get to the main part of Edinburgh.

Friendly host. Good location.

Tiny room. Even with borrowed fan, rather warm and a bit airless.

It's a lovely guest house - great location, easy to get to. We didn't drive but the car park looked fine. The room was spotlessly clean and the welcome we received was great. I'd been a little nervous having read the somewhat variable reviews but was really pleased we chose to stay here. The reception desk isn't staffed but there is someone on call all the time - with a number you can ring. We requested more milk (by text, as it wasn't urgent) and it was in the room when we got back from our day out. When checking out we rang the doorbell and someone was there in a couple of moments. The room was a nice size and the bed was really comfortable.

The rooms are, as the photos show, quite dated in style. I've put this in the negative section, but honestly as long as you are expecting a particular genre of British guest house, where the wallpaper is extremely 80s, but the welcome is warm and genuine you won't have an issue. For example - The washbasin was inexplicably the other side of the room from the bathroom with the shower and toilet in, so you had to walk past the bed to wash your hands. Quirky, but perfectly functional and didn't stop us enjoying our stay.

The location is very convent to public transportation. Large rooms.

Don’t let them give you one of the basement rooms - musty and substandard. I was able to switch rooms after my first night and had a very nice room on the first floor. It was somewhat difficult to find a host or hostess if any questions or needs arose. It would be nice if they would provide soap.
