Location and cleanliness

Noise at night from all the pub music did not stop before 2 am. One of the beds was broken and dipped badly on one side. Only one toilet and shower in a house for 9 people

Disappointing Experience – Would Not Recommend

The location was central, which may be convenient for some travellers though it comes with a lot of noise late into the night.

Usually, when I have a bad experience, it takes a lot for me to leave a negative review, as I know reviews are subjective. But I believe this property absolutely warrants it due to the poor condition and misleading listing. I booked through Booking.com after reading the description and policies carefully. A few days before arrival, I received a call asking for exact check-in and check-out times. I explained check-in was from 3pm, as stated. The property uses automated check-in, so I found the call odd. Then I was asked to pay a €300 damage deposit, something I’ve never encountered in over 8 years of frequent travel. It wasn’t clearly listed under policies and was only mentioned in the “Other Information” section. I questioned why this wasn’t covered by insurance. On the day of arrival, I messaged twice asking for the code. I was told it would only be sent just before 3pm. I then received a payment link via text (not Booking.com), and they refused to release the code without payment. I felt forced to pay via a third party link I didn’t trust. I also tried calling several times via WhatsApp but was ignored, despite them messaging me at the same time saying they were “on another call.” Communication was evasive and frustrating. WhatsApp messages came from a +63 number (Philippines) and calls from +91 (India), which felt very odd considering the property is in Ireland. The property itself was dirty with stained carpets, scuffed walls, and paint damage. The bed was so uncomfortable it took me over 3 hours to fall asleep. It felt tilted, possibly a memory foam mattress that had worn down badly over time. Music played until 12:30 to 1am (didn't bother me, but it did affect other guests). There’s no parking, you have to use an unsecured paid car park 5 minutes away. The listing says there’s a living area, but there isn’t, just an outdoor sofa under a leaking plastic roof, surrounded by painted OSB board. Very poor standard overall.

Location was great in the main eyre square area

This property was NOTHING like advertised and is actually very misleading. This was not an apartment, but 4 rooms (each with separate keys) with a shared kitchen and bathroom. No living room, the outdoor area held together with painted plywood and non-working heating, and no Wi-Fi. The service staff were unresponsive to our concerns and despite offering to send someone to fix Wi-Fi, no one showed up and they stopped communicating entirely. Floors were dirty and the bathroom didn’t have even basic toiletries like most apartments offer these days, particularly for the enormous price we were paying.

Location was great and so central.

the manageress walked in without knocking. she was talking on the phone and was making her way upstairs and ignoring my son when he was asking who she was. The fire alarm was chirping in the front upstairs bedroom and my son reported it immediately and was told it would be fixed. He had to listen to it all night for the two nights of his stay. very little mirrors and no hooks to hang up anything in the bedrooms.

The property was totally misrepresented online. The only living room or seating area was outside under a roof that was leaking (and it rained while we were there). The description said nothing about the living area being outside. The upstairs bedroom that had a double bed and single bed had a horrible mattress for the double bed...it was more of a futon mattress.

Everything else. It smelled like animal urine, there was so many bugs, mold on the ceilings, dirty floors, only 1 roll of toilet paper upon check-in, a bar of used soap with a hair stuck to it in the shower, the TVs downstairs didn’t work until a tech came to fix them, but then they stopped working again…it was the dirtiest place I’ve ever stayed in.

A great space, especially for a group of us staying together! Very clean, great central location. Comfy beds! Great communication, very responsive. The hosts were lovely and allowed a late check out to accommodate my flight time. Would stay again!

There were a couple of small hiccups initially (additional key access and trouble with the hot water timer/me not knowing how to work this) but these were quickly addressed and remedied! Just to be aware the water requires you to set a timer boost which is easy enough - helpful for your hot showers!

This was a last minute booking but it turned out to be one of the best in our week long trip around Ireland in terms of location, cleanliness and value for money. The house is situated on a narrow lane just off Eyre Square, therefore within easy walking distance of Shop Street and all the pubs, hotels, restaurants and of course, the railway station. The house comes fully equipped with everything you'd need for a self-catering stay. The beds are comfortable (four bedrooms in all, each with a queen/double bed). There is a brilliant little outdoor area which is fully contained and covered and this can be kept warm with the outdoor heater. Great for entertaining. The heating was on during the night in the house and so it was cosy and inviting. Great shower! We were able to park right outside the door, but that may not always be the case as the lane is small and can get busy with vehicles parked there. Access to the property was via a key box at the front door. Would definitely use this property again when in Galway city and would recommend to others.

Would have loved to have had a blind on the upstairs shower room for privacy. These are inexpensive and would make such a difference (please consider owner!). There was a bit of street noise around pub closing time as the more exuberant patrons made their way home along the laneway......this isn't the house owners fault and only lasted around half an hour at most. The pros far outweigh any cons regarding noise at this property.

it was overall very good but a few things could do with work.

the outdoor setup was amazing and the the beds were very comfortable and it was very close to everything in the city centre.

when we arrived to the house we noticed there was damage already done to the house, walls were very dirty, there was a very big white patch on the grey wall that was obviously used to fix a hole but not finished and there was a hole in a wall behind a door in one of the bedrooms none of this was showed on the listing and so it was very miss leading. There was also very few supplies, toilet roll, towels, and there was no iron or sweeping brush for the price we paid these things definitely should have been included. We paid a €300 damage deposit and have not heard a word back about getting it back, I have called and texted numerous times and no answer this is very frustrating as we left the house in very good condition and cleaned up after ourselves.
