About this house rental
Come enjoy the spectacular ocean and mountain vistas sitting on the sun deck or in the spacious, comfortable, living room after exploring the many beautiful beaches and trails near by. Our home was lovingly constructed by my husband John, who is a custom home builder and designer, using natural materials from our local area and a considerable amount of repurposed wood and brick.
We are fortunate to live in a quiet, spacious and serene place, surrounded by nine acres and beauty in the form of wildlife, trees, the Pacific Ocean, the Olympic mountains and an endless sky that lights up with countless stars on clear nights.
Cairn, where you will stay, is attached to our house but completely separate and private. We are available if needed but we give guests complete privacy. Guests have their own private entry, parking space and deck.
Off seasons rates in effect from October to March.

Very nice location and the host was very accommodating & a very pleasant & interesting man.House & yard very clean, organized and obviously always well kept.2 very comfortable & large bedrooms; one very small bedroom with no windows for fresh air.The kitchen supplies a bit lacking - ie: no steak knives, short on cooking tools ( such as spatula, etc.) and it would be handy to have an air fryer, (especially in this day & age) to cook foods quickly and more easily. (It's not as if there are dining out options nearby - that is not the case) But overall, the kitchen situation is more than adequate.The BBQ on the deck is not really of much use. After one attempt I decided I would not try to cook on that grill again, (and I am a full time grill guy.) I'd recommend the owners replace the grill with a higher quality unit.Overall I was quite pleased with the accommodations & the location and if/when I return to this area (which is highly likely) I would stay at this site again with no second thoughts.

We had an amazing weekend at this place. Everything was clean and the view of the ocean from the windows was breathtaking. There were rabbits everywhere and we saw deer too.

The place is nice and spacious with an ocean view and short drives to Sooke and nearby trails. It is very quiet and was well cleaned. The hosts were friendly and left nice fresh flowers and baked good which was a welcome surprise. We had a bit of trouble finding the entrance after arriving in the dark (stay right after entering the driveway) due to signs being small and hard to find. Our only complaints about the house are that the bedroom on the first floor has no door latch or handle so the door was hard to keep closed, some of the windows were cracked and could not be opened (hosts let us know ahead of time and say they are fixing this), and the hot water takes a long time to reach the second floor, making the shower experience somewhat frustrating.
