Fabulous stay, loved it. Great start to 2026.

We had a wonderful stay the cottage. So welcoming, comfortable and cosy. We loved every minute of being there, it’s a proper home from home, kitchen is so well equipped, Beds are comfortable as is the living area. Bathroom awesome, with choice of bath or shower, toilet upstairs was very handy. The garden is a bonus, completely secure for my Sisters dog, he totally loved it. Thank you Jo & Luke for a lovely stay.

Always a lovely stay

We have returned to the property numerous times and every time it has been a lovely stay. Location is great for walks and very quiet. The house is very welcoming with a lovely feel to it. Shops and restaurants for food deliveries/collections are all within easy reach.

Review of Bowkett Cottage

Fantastic cottage, very clean, spacious and really well equipped. It has everything you need as a home from home. Light airy rooms and really comfy beds. In fact I can honestly say that in many years of renting holiday cottages all over the UK, none of them have surpassed this one. So many times I have arrived at a cottage to find one toilet roll, no washing or dishwasher tabs or kitchen spray. Not Bowkett, the owners left enough consumables for a weeks stay. We did bring some, anticipating the usual, so we left what we did not use. The owners even deal with the rubbish, all we had to do was to use the various recycling boxes/bins and leave them for them to deal with. The owners themselves a young couple, live next door and were very helpful. There is enough parking within the property for at least two cars behind a gate. The cottage itself is situated on the very edge of the small town of Cinderford on a quiet lane with countryside a stones throw away. It is convenient for the Forest of Dean and Wye valley. Thank you for providing such a lovely cottage.

The only criticism was that the chair and sofa in the lounge could do with updating. They were OK but not the most comfortable.

Absolute gem of a find made the perfect long weekend away with the family.

Off road parking for two cars. Enclosed garden for the children and dog. Everything was provided even the little night torches, so thoughtful. The cottage has been upgraded to a wonderful standard. The beds are so comfortable. It is in a very peaceful spot and ideal location for exploring.

Absolutely perfect

Bowkett Cottage provided everything we needed and more for our 7 night stay. Really spacious and homely, it is in a great location for exploring the beautiful surrounding area. Lovely peaceful garden and easy parking too. Our teen sons really appreciated the selection of board games, me the books and my husband the bbq. This is by far the best holiday cottage we have stayed in.

A very welcoming cottage to enjoy doing as much exploring or as little as wish during a stay.

This was our third stay and the cottage always feels very welcoming, very clean and has everything we need for a lovely stay. The location is great and perfect to explore the surrounding areas or equelly as great to just relax and do as little as wish, Overall a very pleasant stay and would be a very easy recommendation to any others considering staying here.

Quirky cottage with good baby facilities

Cosy and inviting, tastefully furnished. Worked well for us having a double bedroom slightly further away from the main room & twin room, so there was less disturbance for grandparents. Baby/toddler equipment provided which really helped with what we had to bring and blackout blinds were another useful detail.

Some evidence of pets having been there but as it was pet friendly we expected that, it was no great issue.

Peaceful and relaxing break

Great communication, beautiful cottage, good parking, comfortable beds and pet friendly. Lots of information in the welcome pack with walks and things to do. Gorgeous location, so peaceful and quiet. The Forest of Dean is a beautiful place. We could come back to this property. We chose the best week for the weather.

Lovely, spacious and clean property.

Great find! Friendly hosts. Easy check in. Well equipped kitchen, convenient location for exploring nearby tourist attractions. Lots of parking. Great secure garden (will be gorgeous in the spring and summer). Beds are comfy. Lots of cupboard space and draws to use. If my partner had work in or around the area again we’d certainly stay again. We recommend the miners arms in Sling for food (host recommendation), fresh, home cooked, locally produced menu.

A wonderful family break.

The accommodation exceeded my expectations. We had all that was required for our pre christmas mother, daughter, and grandchildren children get together. The christmas tree was a welcomed addition. The location was easily accessible with fab views of the countryside. All needed amenities within a mile to make our stay stress free. The owners live next door and were available for any issues if they were to arise. Free WiFi made communication with the outside world easier as our network coverage across 3 providers was inadequate.

We loved everything once settled. However, I had not prepared for our arrival and had to walk back to the main road to get a phone signal to access my booking for check-in details. The owners were present sorting out my family as I returned 5 mins later. This is more a helpful tip.

I highly recommend this cottage for both its location and facilities

The owners of the cottage are welcoming and friendly. The cottage on arrival was clean and well equipped and the beds are comfortable. The garden is enclosed so safe for both children and dogs. The surrounding area is great for walking and cycling as the there are plenty of walks / cycle paths direct from there cottage.

Excellent cottage with very accommodating hosts.

Lovely cottage, attractive decor, well-fitted out kitchen, very quiet, near walking paths. We were five senior citizens and it was a good place for us to have many discussions and laughs.

a great place to get away from it all and enjoy the Forest of Dean

We loved the cottage. It was comfortable and a lovely chance to get away from it all. We used it as a base to explore the Forest of Dean, enjoying the trails and visiting Symonds Yat for a canoe trip on the Wye. The younger members of our party enjoyed Go Ape and mountain biking. The hosts had left a useful booklet detailing local walks from the cottage that were useful for the early morning dog walks. Altogether we had a great time and I would highly recommend this cottage.
