charming, centrally located Parisian apartment that feels like a step back into the 1800s. The furnishings seems to be authentic antiques, and walking through the space offers a unique glimpse into the past It is a bit rough around the edges and somewhat outdated, but that is exactly why we chose it. and it made for a nice experience during our stay in Paris. We were able to check in after check in times and were greeted and shown around the apartment

One thing we didn’t like was that the owner (or someone working for them) entered the apartment through one of the other locked doors when we were only about 10 minutes late for check-out. This caught us off guard and made us (but maybe particularly me as a woman) feel quite uncomfortable, especially since we hadn’t been told that there were other ways to access the apartment besides the front door which we had been locking day and night. We were staying as a couple, but if I had been traveling alone, this would have felt much more unsettling. A bit more transparency about access to the apartment would have made a big difference already to be honest

I read the mixed reviews of this place and took a chance. I'm SO glad I did! This was like staying in your rich late great-aunt's apartment where the family has left it just like it was. Like going back in time to dwell in a quiet corner of Paris where you'd otherwise never get to visit. Yes, the flat has obviously seen better days, but it still has a character and a history and a soul that is nothing like anywhere else we've ever stayed in Paris, and is far nicer than the homes of friends living in Paris! (The full-sized kitchen alone!) There are rooms that are locked off and private doors you can't open that only add to the mystique and wonder of this faded beauty. And the location -- short walking distance to the Luxembourg Gardens -- is sublime. I almost don't want to talk it up too much, because we don't want it to be unavailable the next time we return to Paris. We loved it!

Don't forget to bring soap and shampoo! (It isn't listed as an amenity, so don't go looking for it.) If you're a prissy little entitled prima donna, this isn't the place for you. Yes, the paint is peeling in spots, the carpets are a bit frayed, and some of the floorboards need refinishing, etc. Who cares? It's so large, and you have so much space, you almost have TOO much space! You will NEVER find another place like this at this price, in an area like this. Everything was quite clean, and there's a washing machine in the bathroom and a drying rack. If I have to complain about something, a hand towel would've been nice, but we just used the kitchen towels, so even that isn't much of a complaint. If you want a pristine, sparkling new environment, spent $1,000/night for a 5-star hotel. If you want an unforgettable experience staying in faded splendor, ignore the naysayers, book this place, and smile at the view of the top of the Eiffel Tower out of the window of your grand salon.

It’s in a great area, everything at hand for eating drinking and people watching, walking distance to popular sights. It’s fascinating, the apartment and the splendid building give your imagination chance to run riot. You would pay an enormous amount more for this apartment if it were up to scratch. If you like an adventure go for it !

Where to start ! Read all the reviews carefully. It’s both fascinating and grim. You could spend all your holiday examining the 1000s of items in the apartment. My partner wanted to move out as soon as we arrived, it’s shabby, neglected, huge, even a trip to the loo in the night is a mission. It needs a major clear out and deep clean and even a basic renovation of the toilet and shower room would improve things. No kettle, not enough towels and the pillows desperately need replacing .
