Mill Studio A - Self contained one bed studio flat

Its location in proximity to Oxford town centre

The general state of the place was run down and in need of some TLC.

Very convenient geographically in close proximity to the train station for my travel arrangements. Easy to find. The communication provided by the host was both timely, helpful and informative for my stay.

The furniture is basic and functional.

It is a good and quiet location close to the centre of oxford, easily walkable

It was renovated some time ago, but rather cheap and plasticky, lots of marks and dents on the walls and partially on the furniture, although the apartment itself was clean. So it isn't really giving off a "cozy" vibe overall, but it is good for a city stay and a good nights sleep.

Just about everything. It promotes itself as a self contained studio flat, it does not have a washing facility, it’s so called kitchen is a microwave, the microwave is placed about 2/3rds of a metre from a smoke alarm so every time you open the microwave the smoke alarm goes off. There is a sign on the bathroom door that states you need to keep it shut as steam will trigger the smoke alarm. As the hot water in the shower did not work, that would tell me there was a history of events here. The hot water in the shower didn’t actually work, although it did in the sink. I’ll invite you to draw your own conclusions as to whether the shower’s hot water worked or it had been cut off, when I did notify the landlord no action was taken. There was insufficient plates and cutlery for two people, a tea towel was only supplied after we requested it, they don’t supply a toaster, (is this fire alarm related?) When we turned up there was a wet towel on the back of the bathroom door. The food preparation area can be seen in the photos, it is a small area with the ceiling sloping at about 45 degrees above it, to prepare your food at first you hit your head and after a while your neck gets affected by not being able to stand up and food preparation is done with your neck at 45degrees, days after leaving my wife and I are still both suffering. They appear to market it as as a self contained flat when it is not, they probably do this to be able to charge more money. It is a poor set up, study the photos before you consider booking this place, I wouldn’t go there again. I also question some of the light installations as to whether they are legitimate.

Reasonable price, quiet

We needed to purchase a spoon, fork, and knife set because while there were two knives, there was only one spoon and fork. As I recall there was also only one bowl. So check the room to make sure there’s at least two of everything, please.

Close to the station

We have traveled to many countries, stayed in excellent hotels, as well as three-star hotels, hostels—basically, we've experienced all kinds of tourism. No place has seemed as bad as this one. It’s the third floor of a house, with a narrow staircase, and it was completely impossible for us to carry our luggage up. We had to leave it in the hallway for fear of falling. I suffer from back problems, so I had to crawl on all fours and stay that way until I finally exited the place. The bed had an excessively soft mattress, and the sheets smelled musty. There is no air conditioning. The room costs the same as a hotel, yet the place is extremely uncomfortable. I rate this place below zero. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
