The apartment worked well for us, except for the chemical smells.

Very comfortable and well equipped with distance sea view. Short walk to the coast. Amazing wave show. Chané the manager was very pleasant and helpful.

Property is in an industrial area and near a large informal township. Nasty chemical fumes were occasionally in evidence. If South Africa has any clean air legislation is is not being adhered to in the surrounding industrial area.

Truly relaxing stay.

Loved the location. We could partly see the sea from the lounge. Sea was literally on our doorstep. Chane was really very kind and a great host, she even got us a small braai when we requested one. We loved every moment there

All in all, a good, comfortable stay to use as a base for exploring the area.

The unit has a beautiful view of the sea and is also a short stroll to the rocks. It clean and comfortable and the host was extremely helpful.

Plug points are quite limited so extension plugs would be useful. Although we had access to a gas braai, it was challenge to use in the windy conditions we experienced.

Very nice unit however the pictures can be a bit decieving as to the reality.

Everything was extremely clean

When you advertise that there is coffee, sugar etc, it is polite to include a complimentary sample milk. There was only half a roll of toiletpaper which is not courteous either. When making the booking a additional fee is added without notification and at the very last part of the booking. This fee should be declared in the initial ad.

The only real issue is it’s a little out of Hermanus and next to an industrial Abalone farm, but this was a small blemish.

The cleanest place I have ever been! The property was light and airy. It had everything we needed for a great stay without being cluttered. The area was quiet, with a short stroll to the rocks.

The complex was very ecstatic in terms of the view and the set up.

FIRST OF ALL @29 Whalerock was our Apartment and we were four Ladies and the only time during our stay at the facility was to to sleep ,never used ,wi-fi ,stoves , absolutely nothing besides their beds ,Linen and Towels because the whole weekend we stayed out where we felt welcomed not being watched as prisoners nor criminals. The Treatment that we had received was very inhumane to such an extent that we were not allowed even use the "POOL" nor the "BRAAI"i place and restricted to bring a visitor to chill with and when we raised the matter we were told visitors are not allowed and nothing was written down about that and I asked to specifically speak with (Chanei the Host) and she replied by saying I should speak/enquire that with Booking.com about that. We were being Monitored 24/7 and even Told by the Guards that they must specifically Monitor our Apartment mainly because we are BLACK and we couldn't what have we done or because it was our skin colour ... Wow we couldn't believe there were places with so much RACISM in South Africa . WE WERE EVEN TOLD THAT WE WERE IN THE LAND OF HERMANUS NOT CAPE TOWN ,WE NOT SURE WHAT WAS THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN .I GUESS OUR CAR WAS NOT EXPECTED TO BE DRIVEN BY US,SOME OF THEM AROUND THOUGHT WE WERE CRIMINALS,EVEN GOT A SEARCH FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT. IF YOU BLACK AND HOPE OR LOOKING FORWARD TO RESIDE OR GO ON HOLIDAY IN WHALEROCK ESTATE ....DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK🤦. THERE IS SO MUCH TO WRITE ABOUT THE HORRIBLE HOSPITALITY WE RECEIVED MAINLY FROM THE HOST . AND ALL THANKS TO THE HOST (Chanei)HOPE WE GOT HER NAME RIGHT...she indeed made our stay feel like hell on earth.WHAT AND EMBARRASMENT . SHE EVEN ASKED THE SUPERVISERS TO COME MONITOR US AFTER OUR DRIVER/FRIEND DROPPED US .

Facilities and location. View of the ocean was amazing. Good security. Kitchen was good though the stove wasn’t working properly.

One complaint. Washing was listed in facilities but they didn’t have it. Offered to let me use their common washing machine but hostess was quite insistent that I pay for use. Had power trips about 4 times in two days.

Whale Rock Estate

Location very close to sea and quiet. Apartment was well equipped and very clean. Also close to coastal path so you could actually walk into Hermanus.

The immediate surroundings were a bit grim but once inside estate didn't matter. The pool area could have had some decent sunbeds which would be a definite improvement. An upstairs property would have improved view considerably.

My family loved the apartment. It's a very safe complex close to the ocean, short drive to all the main restaurants and beaches. The flat is spotless, very clean and well decorated. It also had a great view. We will definitely come back again and will recommend all our friends this location.

The apartment was spotless, clean, , tastefully decorated, chane was incredible, met every need of ours. The apartment was spacious for my family, we had access to all the amenities, and the view was great. The complex was safe as was the area it is located in. Thank you for the incredible stay, i certainly look forward to booking here again soon.

Great and spacious self catering

Friendly staff, 24 hour security, close to great restaurants (area not suitable for walking to restaurants or shops), Kitchen well equipped. Lamps to use when there’s loadshedding. Worth the effort and great for self catering. We’ll return.

Hints: Remember that the laundry with washing machine is in an outside building next to the public/complex swimming pool. Take loadshedding schedule, if applicable, in mind before using washing machine or dryer (pay per wash which was not too expensive). Take an extra roll of toilet paper if staying a couple of nights. Area/neighbourhood did not feel safe however we felt well protected with the 24 hour security. Remember shoes with white soles for playing squash.
