LATROUPE Grand Place

This hostel is very central and acts as a great hub for seeing most of the sights, along the street a 5minute walk to get to the bars and shops and during night it is quite but like any major city there will be about. The room was great, the bunk bed had a locker and a privacy screen so you can be completely immersed in your bubble. It’s 24/7 so constantly people sitting in the common area relaxing or socialising with a bar and 24/7 pizza. Luggage storage was cheap for checking out and had constant access to it throughout the day even though check out was 11am. Most of the staff were friendly and quite helpful with recommendations and any small queries you may have during your stay. I would book this place again if ever in Brussels and on a budget, although cheap it’s one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in!

Some staff not as friendly as others but doesn’t mean they ruined the experience, at the end of the day they are working and we all have jobs so you have to understand some days can be longer then others. I struggle to think of anything I didn’t like about this hostel, I lean more towards what could be at offer, Instant coffee or tea but they do have a bar/cafe menu so you can buy refreshments whenever at reasonable prices. Some nights there were rough sleeps outside but this is at no fault of the hostel and would be the same in most major cities and likely an issue with other places you may book.

The hostel is clean and modern. The rooms are quite nice and the beds are very comfortable and big for 6'4" person like me. The bathrooms are very clean and attached with in a dorm room.

First of all it doesn't feel like a hostel. The vibes are good hotel with dorm rooms which was a mood killer for me. I stayed 8 days and couldn't connect properly with anyone. They had AC in the dorm but it seems like not effective at all. I just had desperate late night sleeps for 2-3 hours and would wake up because of the hot environment. My bed and pillow would be all wet because of sweat. I asked reception many times to change the settings of the AC as it is hot there. They said ok we will do it but never do it. There was a table fan in the room, I captured it and somehow put it on luggage so that it can face me. After that I didnt had much problem with heat. But 3 days out of 8 were terrible for me. I was wondering what if I didnt had lower bed or someone else have already got this table fan? I requested for extra pillow while booking and reminded many times and everytime I was ensured I will get it. For 4 days I didnt got it. They always say we will give you later as the pillow is on different floor. We will send to your bed, dont worry but never got it. Than finally after 4 days I said I need it now. I can wait here on reception till you dont give me. Than they said sorry we dont provide extra pillows. I reminded them I was always told I will be given. Even while booking. He checked on booking and said yes we have written that, my colleague didnt know about the rule so he made mistake but as we already promised, I will give you. Than he went up and got the pillow. One incident i dont know if it is worth mentioning, one morning I went to use toilet and to my surprise there is no toilet paper. It was horrible experience. How can they run out of it? If the previous day, the cleaning staff could see it will run out, they should have changed the roll or kept a backup.

Mattress comfortable, great room and space, with air con and quiet.

Top bunk lader and side supports were brocken and my small 9 year old did not feel comfortable sleeping in it. The Lobby smelled of bad drainage. (poor warm water down the drains)

One of the best hostels iv seen. Very comfortable, everything was superb.
