Good value for money for a big group.

Good value for money for a big group. Plenty of beds and space.

A Parking space was included in the booking but eventually we needed to find one in the street. Hairdryer was under the bottles of shower gel.. Water spilt on the dryer. I needed to dry the plug thoroughly before using it. It could be dangerous if we plugged it in with water. A little suggestion : putting a tag on the door of the dining room. Some of us tried to open another locked room instead and didn't have breakfast. Those who got up later could enjoy breakfast as the door of the dining room was opened.

Quirky property in central location near the ferry port.

Typical French breakfast of croisant and pain au chocolate with coffee. It is what I really like but not to everyone's taste' Good central location close to ferry terminal in relatively quiet side street. Quirky decoration in a large house with new and old features.

Parking was offered in the ad but it was in fact street parking which was not available when I arrived in the early evening as all the street parking within a reasonable distance of the hotel was occupied. Was offer a garage parking space in a very narrow difficult to access garage at the cost of 15Euros per night. I was in effect left with no alternative but to accept. So i believe that this property cannot offer guaranteed 'parking'.

An unpleasant welcome. A substandard stay overall.

The shower was okay.

The host was unwelcoming. The staff inflexible. The check-in time was inconvenient and check out time was miscommunicated, which caused confusion. We didn’t feel very welcome and don’t recommend anyone stay there until the property and hospitality is brought up to standard.

we arrived after 22.00 and they didnt let us check-in anymore. Didnt know about that so lost the reservation and had to book another one in the middle of the night.

Just right for our needs.

Spacious and beautifully decorated. Secure parking for the bicycle in garage (though they hadn’t informed us of the extra €5 charge). Communal breakfast table, was nice to meet the other guests.

Didn’t realise that we needed to let the owners know an actual arrival time so that they could be there to give us the keys. The information was there, but wasn’t quite clear. We could hear our upstairs neighbours walking as the floorboards creaked. But they didn’t move around too much or stay up late so it was ok.

Great place if travelling for Le shuttle or the ferry

Very competitive price. The entire building was beautifully decorated and well maintained. Our room had lots of dried flowers inside which gave it a beautiful smell. Good shower, clean bathroom. Convenient location with a great 24 hour multistory car park next door. A fabulous boulangerie round the corner! Very lovely and pleasant staff. We sadly didn't get to have the free breakfast as we left so early but so excellent that it was included in the price!

A beautiful, artsy spot close to the old town

Loved the decor and atmosphere of this beautiful home. Our room and bathroom were clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The common rooms and garden were also lovely. A plentiful breakfast including meat and cheese as well as the usual bread and pastry. We found plenty of places to eat nearby, and it was very easy to walk to the Hotel de Ville, the World War II museum, and downtown restaurants. Even to the ferry terminal if you're ambitious (although I'd probably take the shuttle)

Never again

It was run down. The bed were full of hair (cats??) we parked in the garage (extra cost) and walked through the kitchen to get to the rooms, the food was piled up in the corner of the room on the floor. This put us off. The area is run down with derelict building opposite. He said it was t safe to leave our bikes in the street.

Perfect

This is a wonderful place to stay. We were here for one night but will definitely stay longer next time. The hosts were so friendly and helpful- nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The property is just a couple of minutes walk away from bars, restaurants and shops. Definitely the best croissant and pain au chocolate since moving to France nearly 20 years ago!

Old building with bad soundproofing

Good location in Calais, walking distance to Grand Theater, town hall and Tour du Guet. Nice price and including breakfast. Big room with two beds and one sofa, bathroom with bathtub is also big space. Parking in front of building is safe and owner will reserve the parking space for you.

Too noisy outside from the street because of bad soundproofing. Also very noisy in the morning from floor above the room when people were walking. The staff (or someone) were talking during evening (22:30-23:30) with big volume and very distracting people.

Good comfortable stay for a short trip

Nice homely place with a heritage feeling. Artefacts are preserved and on display.

On arrival, we had to wait for 20 mins outside the property as the door bell wasn’t working and there wasn’t anyone around to open the main door. On street parking available but difficult to find space if you arrive late.

Great place to stay in Calais

I arrived very late with my young family and the owner stayed up to let us in. He was clearly tired and not very friendly but that's ok. The rooms were lovely and they prepared an extra bed and cot for me. Beds were comfortable and rooms were large. The breakfast was lovely; dining room beautiful and there was juice, coffee and teas set out, with pastries, cereal, ham and cheese. There was a games room part with a pool table too. Wish we had more time to stay and enjoy the place! It was also 10mins from the Eurotunnel and there was free on street parking in front of the apartment. I would totally stay again.

The motion sensor light in the bath was annoying as the lights kept going off during my shower as it could not detect enough motion

Great place, in central Calais

The décor in the house is fabulous. The host was friendly and professional. Breakfast included delicious fresh croissants, pain au chocolate, baguette, hams, cheeses and jams etc. all you could need. Parking was on the street outside, it's easy to pull outside to unload as there is a garage door at No. 16 with no parking in front and then find a space (we were lucky as a space became available right behind us as we were unloading), but we saw lots of spaces not too far away. Shops and restaurants are at the top of the road.

What a lovely old town house! Beautiful bedrooms, palatial dining room, excellent facilities, lovely buffet breakfast. Josef could not have been more kind and welcoming, including help with parking, bag carrying, coffee, pastis, chips, AND a tour round Calais! If you want a taste of genuinely lovely French hospitality, look no further! This is the place! Merci, Josef!

Exquisite. Luxe, Calme et Volupté

Exquisite place. I wish I had booked for longer, is is a destination in itself. It is so beautiful and comfortable. The host was most generous, welcoming us to ‘be at home’. The garden is dream-like, the rooms are jewels. My children. (10 and 13) adored it- the atmosphere of beauty and calm, and the pool table and musical instruments. Breakfast was delicious and candles lined our way back on the night of my daughter’s birthday. What a treat

The road is a bit dingy, litter etc. Parking is free outside and there always seems to be Gendame nearby so very safe for parking.

Breakfast was not special, fruit squash not juice, cornflakes were soft and stale, adequate at best

The lighting in the room was hardly adequate with strange cloth light shades, the shower had a full length mirror next to the toilet which was at best strange and some may have found it alarming - depending on their body shape. Only one full sized towel. No drink making facilities in the room. Overall, poor value for money.

Big rooms, nice dining area, The Bar and the Beer ,and most importantly the hospitality ,the customer service even though they speak little english they seem to understand our needs, so we will definitely come back in the future as its in a brilliant location
