Comfortable, reasonably equipped great location

Cottage location is incredible. It’s cozy inside and has most of what you need

It’s partly our fault for running a little late but owner or cleaner came at 10am prompt and we were in the process of loading two kids a dog and all our stuff into the car, rather than waiting a few minutes the cleaner (or owner) entered and started upstairs: one of the most bizarre experiences I’ve encountered

Time for a little update

This was our second stay at the cottage. Almost a year ago in March. It seems a little tired now. There was a stale smell on entry. It’s a pretty little cottage with all amenities but the cleaning wasn’t as thorough as before. I emptied the cutlery drawer and gave everything a good clean as it was greasy with crumbs and dust. I don’t think the cleaner had vacuumed either. The lounge still has very uncomfortable sofas, but then I knew that from previous visit. We were out practically every day so only needed in the evening but not a sofa to look forward to… The shower has deteriorated too. It’s not attached to the hook properly and there is no pressure at all. I’m far from fussy but this needs addressing. Also, a blind or curtain that actually covers the window would be great! I did mention this last year but it’s not been changed. We’ve had a lovely week because we do love Porlock and visit at least twice yearly, but I think we’re done with this cottage until it’s updated.

Delightful cottage full of Character

A very comfortable stay. Warm and cosy. Very close to the village. Lots of little quirky ornaments dotted around the rooms and enough space for the two of us with our little dog. The double is a smaller room at the back of the cottage with the sound of the stream. The twin at the front benefits from a view of the recreation park. I would have swapped these rooms if it were mine but that’s just me. Bed was lovely and comfy with good linen. Very important. Instructions left on how to use heating, TV etc. Kitchen has everything you would need to prepare meals whilst on holiday. Washing machine and dryer in a separate cupboard with dog towels nearby. Very handy. There’s a small dishwasher and sink in the lovely little conservatory area with pretty lights and a sliding door to rear overlooking stream. There’s another area just to the side which houses bins, gas bottles and some pots of mimosa. (Muddy boots and dog drying area) Small Piece has a lovely welcoming feel to it and we would certainly stay again.

The shower head isn’t great but serves a purpose. The curtain in the bathroom, I would suggest, needs replacing with a blind as it doesn’t cover the window properly and there are gaps.

Full of character

Located in quiet village but lots to explore and plenty of local pubs and shops

Toilet shower being down stairs was a bit of an inconvenience buy it was manageable
