Mews with garden views, a place of the heart

To call the Mews a lovely place would be an understatement: the place is enchanted, this little house is sorrounded by such beautiful colors and sights of nature that is impossibile not to feel peace, feel at home and feel like you reached a place you don't want to leave soon. Martina the host warmed us with kindness and efficiency, she showed to us the entire beautiful property and the amazing 2 acre garden, and we felt her love for nature and we bonded with it immediately. The house is clean, bright and extremely funcional: from washing-machine to microwave owen to traditional owen to dry-fryer, and we loved the many ecofriendly solutions adopted because many times nature comes after tourism: not in this case, here the blend was perfect. My son picked this place up from the map to be in position to visit the Wicklow region ("the Garden of Ireland") and he couldn't have done a better job: the town where the Mews is situatued (Rathvilly, a Gold Medal Tidy Town in the past) is less than one (amazing) hour drive from Gleandalough and a similar distance to Dublin, so it turned out to be a great base camp for our journeys. If life will bring us back to Ireland one day we will certainly look again for this beautiful place!

I would have loved to spend more time there and really enjoy the Garden.,but i only had 2 days

No breakfast supplied .however Martina had left many essential food items and some extra surprises also The Garden was magnificent .the bed so comfy ,facilities totally excellent .And i really loved the FRESH hens eggs .Matina went to no end of trouble to ensure satisfaction .I couldent recommend this beautiful Mews more highly

Heartwarming, comfortable, felt like home.

Martina and family were delightful. They spent time to chat and shared a lot about their family, Ireland, nature and everything else. I felt like I was with family. They were available for any questions or recommendations. The house is immaculate, very neat, clean, fully stocked with utensils and anything else you would need. There were welcoming eggs, water, tomatoes, bread, coffee, tea , chips, granola bars and more. I wish I had more time to spend in the area. Their hospitality went a far way into elevating my experience here in Ireland. Her husband is warm and engaging and full of information on bees, birds, nature and current affairs. I could spend hours and hours listening to him. The location is excellent as a base to visit places on the east side of Ireland. Already miss it.

Mews is an excellent, quiet hidden gem hosted by wonderful, friendly people!

Mews is in a quiet location just outside of the picturesque village of Rathvilly. With just a short stroll, you can hang out at the excellent Lawlor's Bar or grab some coffee and breakfast at The Green Lemon. However, don't feel like you will need to leave the property to enjoy your stay! The apartment is equipped with a kitchen and laundry facilities, and the garden and orchard are varied and well-maintained, with areas for activity and leisure. Furthermore, Martina and Mervyn were lovely and more than accommodating, even surprising us with fresh pastries and groceries! If you need a break from the busy cities of Ireland, or simply want to experience the full charm of small town life in Ireland, look no further than Mews! P.S.: We traveled in a party of three, and the space (one bedroom and one living space with kitchen) was plenty big. The pull-out bed in the sofa was comfortable, if a little short for a 5'11" individual.

The most perfect retreat - thank you

The beautiful gardens, the quiet, the birds, the bees and the lovely hosts combine to make the Mews the perfect place to stay. The cottage is gorgeous and has everything you need. We loved staying here and can’t speak too highly of this sanctuary.

Having to leave was sad - we hope to return when next visiting beautiful Ireland.

Lovely accommodation and a warm welcome

We stayed at the Mews for nearly a month before our wedding and loved every moment. It was perfectly located as a base for us to make all our pre-wedding preparations and Martina and Mervyn were the perfect hosts, providing us with their own produce (eggs, honey, tomatoes and delicious scones). They were also very helpful advising us on local attractions, even taking us on country walks up into the Wicklow Mountains. The Mews was a perfect size and lovingly decorated and fitted out. The kitchen/living/diner was very comfortable and warm on the occasional damp day. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. Everything was spotlessly clean. The view from the windows was over our hosts' beautifully tended garden which we enjoyed on sunny days. Local amenities such as the supermarket, pub and post office were a few minutes walk away and we enjoyed the welcome at the pub a few times. It is an 80 minute drive to Dublin past the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. As well as doing our pre-wedding administration, we took the opportunity to explore this beautiful corner of Ireland with which we fell in love. We have never felt more welcomed. We thoroughly recommend the Mews for a short or long stay and we look forward to returning.
