The house was beautiful. It had just been done up beautifully with wonderful muted natural tones. It had a fenced back garden perfect for my family as my some is a flight risk. Lovely kitchen and huge utility. Loved it. Location was ideal. Shop just across the road and bunratty folk park and restaurants on our doorstep. Perfection.
The only thing that really affected the trip was the hospitality from our host or complete lack of.
We weren't so much welcomed as provided with warnings and rules. Which must be done of course but a welcome goes a long way. From the moment we parked, we were being corrected and told what rules to follow.
Now youd kinda get over that really, however, what took the biscuit was when we had family back for dinner after a lovely day in bunratty and we recieved a visit from the owner stating we are not to have them stay over.shed spotted the car in the estate.
It honestly never crossed my mind. We just wanted to have dinner together and couldn't go to a restaurant cos my son is autistic. She stated insurance issues to my brother at the door and left. We though, that's odd but fair enough. Thats that. Let's enjoy our meal. But I received further texts from her. Sending me terms and conditions and warning me not to have my family stay. Again. Never was gonna happen. Wed have just rented a bigger house if we wanted to do that and had done in previous years.
On leaving she didn't even come and say goodbye.
So sadly, as kindness and hospitality are something i hold dear. i can't recommend this place and we are not going back. Unfortunately. And otherwise I'd have said it was a perfect place. And a perfect week that I'm so grateful for. And my little boy did so well all week I will always cherish those memories.
