I had to move rooms twice because the tv and internet didn’t work and every room I saw was shabby and unkempt. The sign out front says full continental breakfast which they don’t offer.

The room stunk of smoke, had holes in the bathroom walls, the shower was mucky and shower curtain broken. The doors were peeling, and the door wouldn't lock from the inside. The man on reception tried to move us to a single room instead (there was two of us) and finally got put in a family room with 4 single beds. The location wasn't great either. Said we could have a partial refund... but still waiting. Avoid.

Served a purpose, better than a Hostel

The hotel was a good value budget friendly option. A comfortable 20 min walk into town down a long straight road.

Having a fire alarm test for approx 2 hours on a Tuesday morning wasn't ideal, but understandably necessary. There are virtually no facilities in the hotel so be warned

Okay - good location for SJP

Room was okay, no 2 and downstairs so heard every little noise with people coming and going. Bed comfortable, working tv, coffee and tea making facilities and car park all positives.

The hotel was not overly welcoming and when arriving with my 5 year old daughter for the NUFC v THFC match I was asked if I had ID to prove she was my child.

Not a great experience to be honest

Staff seemed friendly enough.

Bed was extremely uncomfortable, not only could you feel the mattress springs but you could pretty much see them too, the bathroom door was hanging off, the vending machine downstairs was empty and there was no other facility/bar to get a drink. Location was a bit far out

Absolutely nothing to like.. old, worn, tired accommodation. No facilities whatsoever! Staff lacked customer service skills. The photos shown are nothing like the reality....

Staff were really friendly, the social area was comfy although could have used the sofa space better, price was great for Newcastle and location is good for access to the town.

No bar (although bringing your own drinks in is acceptable), no drawers for clothes.

There wasn’t much to like to be honest.

The area is horrendous. Genuinely. Horrendous. I get you don’t spend much time at the hotel, somewhere to crash. But, wow. The rooms are seriously dated. There was so much noise from other people staying in to the early hours. The walls are paper thin. The beds were so uncomfortable. If you were to pay me, I wouldn’t go back.

It was DISGUSTING. I think if I showered I would’ve came out dirtier than I went in. There was dark marks on the wall that looked like blood!!! The room had a horrible smoke and tobacco smell and was extremely stuffy. Had the windows open the full time and the smell was still there. Could hear everything outside the door and above us which would’ve been fine if we weren’t right next to the stairs and common area.

Comfortable Hotel in a Great Location

The staff were very welcoming, the room was spotless, and the hotel is in a perfect location near the Newcastle city center. Also, it has a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Outstanding value for money.

They left a good luck note for my great north run. The lady at reception was very friendly. Beddington clean.

Tiny room. Shower looked as though it hadn’t been used in years. Towel on a shelf so high up a five foot high person can’t reach. No breakfast.

Mediocre at best

Staff went above and beyond to have our room ready early for us and was clean and bed was comfy for our stay.

No breakfast option, vending machine had nothing in, went outside in the morning and saw 3 rats around the streets surrounding the hotel. Location was in a convenient place for us ,but after speaking with locals we were at event they said we were brave to me staying in that area. No decent food places around and as a coeliac person really struggled to eat at the weekend. Would also suggest putting some outside seating on the grass out the front to allow smokers somewhere to go instead of standing at the entrance. It’s a very noisy hotel and we could hear people walking about most of the night. Was it the worst hotel no, was it the best also no and I wouldn’t return unfortunately. It could be a real gem of a place with some love and tlc.

Easy city centre access as long as it’s not a summer night

Uncomfortable and basic.

The location was ok, and a good supply of tea, coffee and biscuits.

Twin room with 2 single beds, one mattress was very uncomfortable as I could feel the springs and I don't think the mattress was hotel standard.The ensuite shower room was far too small to move to towel dry yourself. Car parking was £5.00 per night but was advertised as free parking on Booking.com. No hairdryer was provided and had to leave with wet hair. Also no shower gel supplied, we had to use own gel, forunately we had sense to bring our own provisions. Not very impressed as the main areas of comfort were not addressed or supplied.

A real disappointment, would almost have been comical it was so bad

Several times we couldn’t get into the property as the reception was on a break so had to wait outside until they returned The room was so small you had to clamber over a bed to get to the bathroom The sliding bathroom door kept coming off it’s hinges so we had to fix it 8 times The room was so hot , yes I know the weather was really good however the windows only opened a tiny bit, the reception gave us a fan which we had to assemble ourselves but this didn’t affect the temperature at all, neither of us slept in the beds just on top of it The cold tap stopped working several times

Worse than abysmal

Other than parking around the back (which you have to pay for) - there is nothing to remotely like about this hotel. It's a dive.

The list could be as long as my arm. To name a few: - Grotty interior - walls, doors and facilities damaged in multiple areas - Beds were incredibly uncomfortable - if you like acupuncture then you'd enjoy these beds as you are being needled by springs all night - Our room was not structurally level - the floor was uneven, you had to hold yourself up to go to the toilet for example - One room didn't have a cold tap - 2 hot water taps instead - Shower door didn't shut in our room so water spilled out into the bathroom - Neon flashing lights outside the room created a strobe effect in the room with the blinds - it was like being in a club when trying to sleep - No aircon so got extremely hot at night, had to open windows which meant the road seemed quite loud - Staff had no grasp on who was booked in each room - one room was interrupted after check in "to see if anyone else was checked into the room". This created unease as occupants were worried someone might rock up in the middle of the night - Only accept cash for room key deposits - very backward setup - Strange smell throughout the property. Carpet was sticky in places. - 23 pound per person might seem cheap, but when given such a bad experience, it felt like a rip off. I never usually leave reviews but had to for this place. It's rough and you need to be aware about what you're booking before you choose to stay here. We were only there for 1 night so struggled through - if we'd booked for more nights we'd have left early.

Perfectly adequate for our needs. I would recommend the Persian grill ‘The Rose’ that is directly opposite.

Dated, but clean! Tbh for the rate value it was an acceptable price. The staff were very helpful. Mattress wasnt as comfy as I would have liked! But I still slept, and the sheets were fresh & clean! For my daughter and I, as an overnight stay was more than adequate!

A few minor things, but all were sorted when told..(kettle didn’t work, it was replaced within 10 minutes of me telling them! Tbh fair it was the socket not the kettle. But was sorted. The shower did close properly , we only found out in the morning so nothing could have been done. It certainly wasn’t a complaint more of a ‘letting them know’ good shower pressure, nice and hot.
