Owner upgraded us to the larger room since it was empty.
Very comfortable futons, and well kept tatami room. Great location right next to the river, and nice common room.

The house is ideally located in Matsumoto, near a big AEON mall, temples and shrines, and the famous Nawate Shopping Street and the Matsumoto Castle.
We initially wanted to just pass by Matsumoto but thanks to the location of the house, we eneded up discovering interesting things that made us stay for the whole day before leaving for Kanazawa.
The house has everything you can need.
The host was very helpful and teached us the good manners with such traditionnal house.
And the room itself was very lovely.
So, I have only 1 thing to say BUT! it's part of the experience: the futons.
We wanted to test this traditionnal bed at least one time during our trip (we will also have that soon when sleeping in Koyasan though, so bear with me).
We are used to comfy and soft beds.
Futons are bnot that.
If you're ok with hard mattress, you'll probably love it.
If your body is weak and fragile as ours, then they probably won't be very adapted to you hahaha, but I encourage you to try at least once while you're in Japan. It's part of the whole package for me.

Good location and authentic cosy shared style Tatami house with well equipped kitchen and nice sitting area. Good access to free carpark nearby.
The shared room for 4 was pretty tight.
