Fell in love with Newport. The property has fabulous views and excellent location, walking distance from main downtown attractions. Clean comfortable and very nice property

We booked about 8 months ago for a wedding. My wife was a part in the wedding. We booked this place for the location (1/4 mile from St Mary's Church, the downtown, food etc). That was fantastic. The owner isn't near by. We arrive, check in was supposed to be at 4pm. Our room wasn't ready at 4:15. It wasn't ready until just minutes before 5. We had to shower, change and be at the rehearsal by 6. When they said the room was still being cleaned, then said ready, I went up to the floor, where my door was open, and there were 6 housekeeping staff all lounged around on my living room furniture, laughing, playing with phones, feet up etc. I startled them by walking in with a large trolley of luggage and a family of 5. Then they got up, collected their stuff and a trash bag and left. Later that evening, we found in the 'kids' bedroom cheerios on the floor stepped on.. Potato chips on the floor of the smaller bathroom, and when we pulled the couch out for my adult daughter and her +1, there were crushed and empty water bottles under and in the bed. Still not worst part. Outdoor pool CLOSED. It will be for some time for anyone planning on staying here. Was not disclosed. They've torn the old one out and completely building a new one. It's a 90 degree July weekend. That's what the kids were going to do while we were doing the pre-wedding things. Owner said it was an 'emergency' Not a chance. Ripped out completely. It didn't just happen that day or even week. Owner didn't know of it.
