About this house rental
Araminta on Thames "Minty" is an updated and spacious vacation home located on Thames Street. Great spot for large groups (but no rowdy parties, sorry). 4 bedrooms + extra comfy twin cot for 9th guest. 1st floor master bedroom and bath. Kitchen table seats 8. Two family rooms. 2 1/2 bathrooms. Private backyard with fire pit, she shed and lighted gazebo. Enclosed front porch w/seating for morning coffee. Perfect location...Walking distance to shops, restaurants, parks & mansions.
Parking: Our guests park directly on Thames right in front of the house but if there are more than 2 cars then it will not be easy to find free parking. There are many lots that offer overnight and/or 24 hour parking. Newport is exceptionally busy in season and parking is limited so best to car pool whenever possible.

Karena was an incredible host from beginning to end!! She was super responsive before and during our stay. The house was super clean and close to all things Newport! Our group especially enjoyed the outdoor gazebo area where we gathered for meals when we chose to eat in. We hope to return someday soon!

We loved the location. It’s towards the end of the busy part of Thames so it is quieter and easy to find street parking. It’s an easy walk to town. We enjoyed the indoor and outdoor gathering spaces. You have to appreciate the quirks of an older building, but it’s charming and very clean. My family all thought the house and the location contributed to such a wonderful stay in Newport. Karen is a great communicator. We loved our stay here.

The pros:
-- The check-in process was easy
-- The Italian restaurant right next door is fantastic - highly recommend
-- About a 20 min walk to Cliff Walk.
-- The patio / backyard was nice.
The cons:
-- The house is a lot older than the pictures make it look.
-- Except for the bedroom downstairs the 3 bedrooms upstairs are super small, way smaller than pictures make them look.
-- The 1/2 bath downstairs is literally under the stairs in a cupboard.
-- We found several flies and a spider in the house.
Overall it was just o.k., it was livable'ish but just be aware of the much older house / furniture / small bedrooms.
