Adequate but let down by being too cramped and poor decor.

The bed was very comfortable and the shower was good..

The driveway to carport was very steep and not easy to negotiate. Plywood walls could be improved with some white paint or wallpaper. Under bed was very dusty. There wasn’t enough cutlery. The room was pretty cramped but it was fine for one night.

Great Find

The bed was so comfortable. Walking distance to a few restaurants/takeaways/bakeries. Owner was very helpful and friendly too. A great start to our trip.

Relaxing stay

It is a beautiful cabin, very clean and comfortable. Phil was very welcoming and we had an really relaxed stay.

The only downside about the location was the mainroad which was quite loud during the day and in the morning, but okay at night.

The owners were very friendly and accommodating. I stayed in a separate studio from the house and it was warm and had everything I needed. Excellent shower! Also a very easy walk to the shops and restaurants in Mangawhai township.

The service of the owners. As a person with prosthetic, I have issues my gear. These two loaded and unloaded for me, checked on me and were so helpful. I had an awesome stay!

Uncomfortable, Noisy, not worth the money

Wouldn't recommend this accommodation, it didn't have aircon, was about 15x10 in size, made of plywood, was next to a main highway, so noisy! Our experience was awful, this type of stay shouldn't be listed.

Philip's Italian Café

Philip was a super friendly host, who offers the best Coffee every in a New Zealand b & b. Room was clean, the bathroom also. Breakfast was gorgous. He gave me good informations about the surrounding (chocolate company and skate competition). Easy going

It was very hot, when I stayed there and the ventilator did a lot of noise during the night. Beneath I switched it off.

awkward

The bedroom was nice.

I messed up and showed up early, after being told where to find the key if they weren’t home. I couldn’t find a garbage and the fridge was so cramped it was hard to find room for 3 items. NOTE check-in isn’t until 3:30. He was freaked out that I was there before he returned and kept on repeating that I was early, and telling me about how I should leave and check this and that out - despite telling him I had work to do. I went for a walk because I felt so awkward and when I came back music was blaring and could be heard down the street. Then I went for a drive and tried to find alternative accommodation for that night, but had no luck. After traveling the world for most of the last few years (pre & post covid), this was the most awkward and unwanted I’ve ever felt.

Friendly hosts. Clean and comfy bathroom and bedroom.

I missed some bread, butter, or something else for a continental breakfast. There was just cereal and milk and she also made a really nice flat white. The bedroom does not have a garden view (it was a driveway) and no tea or coffee maker. Overall it was just small details and did not affect my experience.
