About this bed and breakfast

With rural and sea views, on the hill between Waipu Cove and Langs Beach, our private guest house is an ideal place to rest and restore. A spa on the patio, with access to a large garden and a labyrinth path, a 12m pool, a gym, 3 hectares of bush walks, swimming hole, and a few minutes drive to beaches it has all the options for a wonderful holiday. It is 2 mins drive to the The Cove Restaurant, 10 mins to Waipu town, with cafes and museum and 15 mins to Mangawhai with cafes and markets.

A gorgeous Bach in a beautiful setting. Very high spec and clean. Gill was lovely to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble. Our kids and dog loved the huge lawn and maze. We loved it

We loved our stay at this property. The garden, spa and fire pit were our highlights but everything else was amazing too. Beautiful bathrooms, comfy beds, a fully stocked kitchen with all the latest gadgets. Snacks on arrival. A perfect stay thank you.

This is our second stay at Langs Beach. This time we had our baby - Kylee - who turned 1 the day of check in. We celebrated with an intimate Moana themed dinner which she loved so much!! Since our last visit in April 2023, the outdoor/entertainment area has been renovated making it an even more beautiful and cosy space for a large family on holiday during the colder months. The gardens boasting new art. We brought all 4 of our dogs along and they all had an absolute blast exploring and lounging with us all. Again both houses had everything you could need, so clean and comfortable. Great to see caretaker Pye again who is always so welcoming and does an amazing job looking after this haven. We will 100% be coming back!! Ruru Way - our perfect Annual Holiday Destination :)

This guest house is a rare find - immaculate accommodation with an amazing view. Everything has been thought of: Gill makes sure you want for nothing during your stay. The gardens were so well cared for too - the live-in groundskeeper is doing a stellar job! Comfortable, huge beds and air con in every room was a bonus in the heat of summer. Cleanliness was second-to-none. Great location too - only a few minutes from both Waipu Cove and Langs, but quiet and serene after a busy day's adventuring. Thank you - we will be back!

A retreat it was - gorgeous rooms (each with cooling / heating units) with picturesque outlook and gorgeous decor. Bedrooms (private from each other, being separated by living space), with comfy huge beds and with its own large luxurious bathroom each. To top it all off - so many small accommodating details, such as fridge and kitchen treats and the outdoor area offering every seated comfort. And we really appreciate our pups being welcomed! So much outdoor space, which felt safe and private. We are now booking a return trip with parents. Thanks for looking after us, Gill.

Thank you very much Gill, what an absolute gem of a property. For us it was a great space too sit relax and do sweet fanny adams. We tackled the 6minute drive down the hill to ‘The Cove’ restaurant for breakfast and dinner without breaking a sweat or the speed limit. PERFECT

We have just returned from a wonderful week of relaxation at this special property. From the moment you walk in, we were wowed by the beauty of the cottage and it's spectacular views out towards the islands and Bream Head, along with the beautiful gardens. Gill, our host had thought of everything and it was always a lovely surprise to find her thoughtful touches throughout the cottage. A very caring and thoughtful host! Overall I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. A great location close to so many activities and beautiful beaches. Throw in a good coffee down at The Cove and you can't miss with this one!

This house was so awesome. The views are incredible. We visited with our two little ones and they loved it. Perfect summer getaway - the outdoor living space is awesome. Gill was an amazing host, so welcoming and helpful. All the furnishings in the house were high quality and we literally had everything we needed. There wasn't anything that could have been better! Ruru on the Hill is absolutely beautiful and is the perfect place to unwind, relax and recharge. Gill has thought of absolutely everything in the house including things you may have forgotten. The house has been fitted out and decorated exceptionally well. Lush bathrooms, gorgeous beds and linen plus a fab kitchen. The views are spectacular especially from the pool or spa! Beautiful gardens and bush to explore and the robot lawnmower is so clever. Fab communication from Gill. Will definitely be back and couldn’t recommend Ruru highly enough!
