The quietness, the kitchen was fully equipped. The chalet heated up quickly and was quite cosy
The cleanliness. Under the sofa was dirty. The blinds had food splatterings next to the table where you eat. The sofa/bed was very uncomfortable. The bedding was faded and could do with updating. The view shown on the pictures was non existent unless you went up the bank in the garden area. Info on the chalet needed updating. We were looking for the coin machine for ages but apparently it is no longer there !!

The area is beautiful Welsh countryside
The property is very dilapidated and in need of upkeep and sadly is not at all as described on the booking. com website.
Facilities that the proprietor states are available just aren't there to begin with, the heating is non existent and is not helped by the kitchen patio doors not closing properly and as we were on a mountain side the wind was howling through them.
The whole chalet was in need of a serious clean, particularly the kitchen, oven was caked in foot remnants, cuttelery was filthy even crumbs still under the toaster like someone had just left.
The bedding had not been changed, black hairs and marks on the bedding?
The lounge floor was a trip hazard in areas and very old (rotten in places).
Remote for TV did not work (all it needed was new batteries) making the TV unusable.
Finally after leaving the property early and contacting the owner, they simply refused to admit any of the above.
Very disappointing for your sake avoid this sub standard property.

Nothing. It’s perfect.

Nice location.
The kitchen is been not very clean and no detergents to clean.

Location was and nicely fitted out
Could have been informed about some missing essentials. No toilet roll which isn't ideal after travelling 4 hrs, this wouldn't have been an issue if were informed in the pre check in notes. Wifi isn't working. Both of these issues are on going as been mentioned in the visitors book on several occasions

The property was lovely! We loved everything, from the decor to the cleanliness. Will definately book again
Very minor thing....the wifi password didn't work

I liked the location just what I was looking for high up in the mountain tops, peaceful and calm. With scenic views available from top.
The pictures on booking show you can see scenic views from garden but over time bushes have covered most, so little trim would be good.
The cleanliness of property was quite poor, animal hair all over sofa and bed. Updating of things in property desperately needed for moneys worth.
Extra blanket was located under bed not covered properly accumulating dust. Extra sheets old. Window blind in bedroom would not come down, stuck had to cover the window with our clothes.
Understand the water was not good enough to drink, but why it was running yellow continuously was pretty nasty looking, felt uncomfortable to even wash dishes aswell as take a shower.
Smell in property was awful.

We had a good stay – the place was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. Just keep in mind you’ll need a car, as it’s not walking distance to shops or town. Overall, great value!
The only thing we didn’t like was that the bed was a bit small for two tall adults, but apart from that, everything was fine.

The place hadn't been cleaned this was despite me contacting the host to confirm she was ok with a late booking. After contacting the host to say it hadn't been cleaned she replied to say the cleaners would be there ASAP however this was already 6:15 at night. We were ready to relax and didn't want to wait another hour or 2 for it to be cleaned. We requested a refund and was offered a partial. Booking.com won't get involved as it's not their policy. It turned out expensive for a cheap weekend away. Wouldn't take the risk, I am now trying to claim through visa as the host has stopped responding.

It is always such a great stay at Fox's Lair, it is secluded the view is wonderful & I love the accessibility of the amenities.
I would argue that the price is a little steep for what it is but I am happy to part with my money because I love it. This is not the the first time I have stayed & I don't mind paying.

Cute and compact place with everything you needed.
It was not ready at the suggested check in time and we had to wait around 15 minutes while cleaning was done meaning that floors were still very wet when we went in.

Nothing, the hut was shabby on the outside, smelly inside, water coming out, shower moldy, toilet, blind broken, leftover food in the fridge, dirt on the carpet, the vacuum cleaner is dirty, the plates are brown, the garden chairs are dirty, the location does not correspond to the information given. After I fell from the toilet, I left 3 days early.
To carry on. Neighbor left her car running for breakfast. Floor covered with extinguishers, carpet at risk of falling...Nobody should visit this accommodation.

Only to improve the quality of the beds mattress as very uncomfortable, a shame as everything else was great!

The location & the quietness of the location was wonderful. I wish I could stay here every time I travel for work.
I was disappointed to learn that I needed to pay for electricity which was not stated before I booked.

As stated in my email (6th Sept) I booked this chalet because it is advertised as having estuary views and a beautiful garden, in fact the views from the neglected garden are of the adjacent chalet, the overgrown hedge and next door’s garden. The estuary views & the photos on booking.com are misleading.
On entering the chalet there was an overwhelming smell of disinfectant, after opening all of the doors and windows we realised that this was to mask the unpleasant smell coming from inside the chalet.
We understood that the water wasn’t drinkable but what wasn’t stated was that the water was actually dark brown and therefore a simple wash was a very unpleasant experience and pointless to have a shower. Also black mould in the shower.
We did not stay the second night (left early on our second day, we would not have stayed the first night except we had arrived late in the day and it was difficult to find anywhere else to book for that evening)
I feel cheated and this unpleasant experience has cost so much money for a truncated stay.
I didn’t hear back from the owners after my last email and I hope that this information will reach them.

Very clean on arrival. Some essentials provided and electricity still in the meter. Bottled water also provided. Beautiful views and walks nearby. Will definitely be staying again.

Inside was very nice, outside in need of some refurbishment
The state of the garden and the fact that you could not easily access the beautiful views without climbing through some brambles which was quite risky, a couple of steps up and clear the space and put a bench there and it would have been perfect but sitting outside looking at weeds and overgrown bushes et. Not so good, also a lovely sun trap but no shade so need an umbrella. Lack of site map, was missing from download.

Had everything you needed and was comfortable
The drive up was too much, the bins were left full, the rug was curled up and frayed caused several trips and the outside patio area scruffy and overgrown

I loved the location. Property was clearn and tidy.
There was no drinking water as the source of water was a local spring and we were advised to bring our own drinking water.

Foxes lair is well equipped and in such a peaceful location, with fabulous views over the water to Aberystwyth. Aberdovey and Machynlleth are beautiful and the Talyllyn narrow gauge railway at Tywyn is lovely.
The bathroom sink plug broke so couldn't drain the water, which meant using kitchen sink for bathroom usage. One of the saucepan was filthy - looked like someone had cooked their dinner and just put it back in the cupboard.

kitted out fine
it’s has an uncomfortable bed. too much fabric conditioner on sheets. something could be done in the outdoor sitting area.

It's just the most beautiful setting with views out over the estuary. The accommodation was very clean and comfy.
Remember to take plenty of drinking water with you. The water is okay if boiled for tea and coffee, etc.
