Cannot recommend. Damp, cold and lowly maintained.

. The positive is that it is centrally located in the old town and accessible to lovely little bars however that's where the positives end I'm afraid.

I don't like writing negative reviews but for the benefit of other travellers this place is disappointing and I cannot recommend, especially at €113 per night. We arrived to no heating in the room and to what is a damp, cold and shabby room where the towels and bedding felt damp as a result. The room didn't heat up much despite us putting the heating on ourselves. In addition, very small bed wedged into the corner, terrible pillows with no structure to them, unclean areas, old dish sponge left out (despite them providing new one), old tea towel with hole in it,badly maintained areas with taps not attached, wobbly tables and lots of maintenance concerns. Very sad to see such a beautiful old building look like this. Could be lovely but lots more work and care is needed to make this an appropriate place for paying guests. Cannot recommend.

Great family stay

Great location in the old town, very clean and the host was welcoming and friendly. Comfortable beds, and well stocked kitchen. Perfect for a large family stay like ours. Thank you.

Just to be aware there are two steep flights of stairs up to the property and one flight within the flat up to the bedrooms. We stayed with elderly relatives who did struggle slightly with this.

The pictures didn’t match .. misleading , and yes parking can be free but you have to circle the city many times. The beach is disappointing . If you like only eating fries and moules .. many shops were closed. We left a day early. We weren’t met at the apparent as promised. It was very smelly

Phenomenal location and excellent facilities

The location was incredible, right in between the castle and cathedral! The owner was very accommodating with our lack of french!

Just beware if you have a big car, parking on street in front of Gite a bit tight. Smaller cars easier. Not a problem though as there is plentiful parking nearby. Just don't risk the street if you have a big car - Audi 8 etc

Great couple of nights to start of mini tour of Northern Framce

Great location in the old town, quirky old building with lots of character but with all the modern comforts. Great reliable fast wifi. So close to the best bits of the town with great bakery less than 2 minutes away where you could eat in for breakfast. Quite a lot of cafes bars and restaurants a very short stroll away.

Bit of a bad smell upon arrival, think it was something a previous occupant cooked but it was temporary. Only bathroom is on different floor to the bedrooms, and it’s down a twisting open staircase.

Great location, ok for one night but wouldn’t stay again

Location

It smelt musty and had a damp cold feel about it, as an asthmatic it’s produced chest irritation. It’s in need of repair eg loose fittings like hooks hanging off the wall and very loose wobbly kitchen tap. The door lock on the apartment door was very difficult to lock on exit - really not acceptable. Curtains difficult to close hanging loops were ripped! I particularly didn’t like the fact that the apartment we were given was nothing like what we expected from the photos on booking.com and feel conned.

The accommodation was fantastic, very cosy and just what we needed. Everything was spotlessly clean.

Fabulous location

This property is an excellent location and would definitely recommend. You really couldn’t get any closer to the old town. Bars and restaurants near by and felt they were all reasonably priced. There was good communication via what’s app and a friendly welcome. We stayed in the apartment and was in the ground floor

Don't be tricked into being given a tiny room instead of the one shown on Booking dot Com.

Good location in the heart of the old city.

We were given a different property than advertised or shown in the photos or description. The facilities were not as good as advertised: the room was small and uncomfortable, no sofa, desk or courtyard as promised, no view of the basilica. We give a low rating because we were dishonestly given an inferior room than we expected and therefore feel we were cheated and overcharged.

Fantastic city getaway in a historical house in the middle of the old town.

The three bedroom apartment at Maison 1747 is beautiful. It's in a 18th century house recently renovated by the owners who did a great job. Kitchen is well equipped and functional, bathroom is roomy with a great shower. The living area is spacious, furnished with nice taste and it even has wooden toys and puzzles for small kids. The sofa (which turns into a bed) could be more comfortable, but the arm chair is perfect for watching tv or reading. Upstairs, the 3 bedrooms are quite sizable, with plenty of storage for suitcases and clothes. We loved the mezzanine with the small writing table! Being an old house, the floor is quite squeaky which doesn't help sneaking out of the kids room when they just fell asleep, but you get used to it. Absolute best thing of the main bedroom is the stunning view of the cathedral's dome at night. Location is 10/10, right in the middle of the old town, in a quiet side street. Surprisingly, there's free street parking throughout the center. This is sometimes challenging due to the narrow street, but there's also plenty of parking space outside the old town gate, a mere 2 minutes walk away. Absolutely recommended.

Not much to mention here. Perhaps, if you're planning to spend most of your holiday inside, consider that the couch is not the most comfortable I've ever tried. Other than that, a great place!

Very nice holiday flat in an old, lovely renovated building from 1747 right in the old centre of Boulogne-Sur-Mer, 30m from the cathedral. Nice interieur, you have everything what you need for 1-2 persons. The owner is very nice and supportive, it was no problem to get the key or any needed support.

Superb, excellent

Great location and within 2 minutes walk of free parking at the Parking Esplanade Mariette. Maxime, met us at the apartment and provided all the details we needed. He gave is a very warm welcome. The décor is beautiful and the cleanliness superb. We would not hesitate to recommend this fantastic place.

We didn't want to leave we loved it. Please note, when travelling on a Monday in France it is always difficult to find restaurants that are open. That said we did find one in downtown Boulogne-Sur-Mer.

A delight!

We were three friends on a January weekend break and we were thrilled with our stay at Maison 1747. The location is wonderful - you can see the cathedral from some of the windows - and it is right in the old walled town, next to the street with lots of great restaurants. Despite that, it was very quiet. The main room is great - a well-equipped kitchen, large dining table for 6 people and a very comfortable sitting area with attractive decor. The bathroom is large and very clean with a great shower. We were greeted by the host, who gave us lots of great information about places to eat and visit - he could not have been more helpful.

The three lovely bedrooms are under the eaves, so there are a few challenges if you are very tall, and one room has steps, so be careful in the night. Very comfy beds, though and we slept well. We never found the wi-fi code if there was one.

Excellent venue for visiting Bologne-Sur-Mer

Communication both before and during our stay was great. We were met by our host at the property who gave us a very good introduction to the property with useful information on local restaurants, bars & shops. The property couldn't be in a better position right in the centre of the old town and although there is no private parking, there is plenty of free on-street parking around the area. The kitchen had everything we needed for a short stay and the wifi was excellent.

Very friendly and helpful owner who met us at the property at the agreed time. We were also given great recommendations to have a drink and something to eat nearby. We were also allowed to safely park our bicycles in the courtyard of the property.

It was quite hot up in our room so we slept with the windows open wide.

Excellent modernised character property right in the heart of old town.

We stayed in the studio which was very well equipped and well designed. The original features of the building had been kept and it had been modernised very sympathetically. The location of the property in the old part of Boulogne was excellent, having restaurants and cafes right on your doorstep, with shops very close by. The host Maxime was very friendly and helpful and met us at the property. He told us all about the renovation of the old property and was keen to make sure we had everything we wanted. There is limited parking available in the street outside the property, but we parked in the large car park, about a 7 minute walk away just outside of the city wall. Parking is free and you can park for as long as you want to. Overall, we had an excellent stay and would return if we visit Boulogne again.

Only slight thing for us was that the wi-if was a bit intermittent at times.
