I have done the trip between Helsinki and Stockholm on various ferries before, sometimes stopping in Aland. I wanted to splurge on a (admittedly pricey) Commodore Class cabin this time and it was excellent. In a private area toward the front of the ship on higher floors. The room was narrow, but the bathroom was large and there was a nice sitting area and enclosed balcony. We liked the Marimekko furnishings. The Commodore Lounge was steps away and beautiful, if a bit snug at peak times. Staff was great. Breakfast served in the Bon Vivant Restaurant was nice. We had dinner in the Grill steak Restaurant which was surprisingly excellent (not included in fare but good value by Scandinavian standards). The sunny morning through the Stockholm archipelago was magical.
We were not informed that we could check in and board at 1445 as Commodore passengers, 45 minutes before general boarding. That information would have been nice but it did not seriously impact our trip. The ferry terminal in Stockholm is a taxi mafia disaster. Cannot believe Stockholm authorities allow this. In Lagos or Moscow or Kinshasa I am prepared for the $50 non-negotiable 15 minute ride into the center. Not in Sweden...what's wrong? There are public transport options but the information is not clear. We took a pricey bus to the train station. Just be prepared.
