Amazing place

An incredible atmosphere in a 15th-century house, with a very convenient location for exploring the city. The breakfasts and hospitality of Bert and Hilde are simply wonderful - delicious, home-style, prepared with love and genuine care. The atmosphere of the hall and breakfast room makes you feel as if you’ve truly stepped into a small palace. One small note: if you arrive by car, pay close attention to the traffic signs, as driving directly up to the house may result in a fine. The same applies to taxis - our taxi picked us up not directly from the entrance, but from Hoogstraat.

The location of the B&B was excellent….easy to walk to everything around. The cottage was charming!

Only snag was the taxi didn’t show when we were departing so we called an Uber instead.

Warm luxury for a family friendly stay!

Wow! This was by far one of the best places I’ve stayed. First of all the location is quintessential, easy walking distance to everything and very quiet. We stayed on the private top floor which included two full sized separate rooms. Everything was so clean and updated! It was like a luxury hotel without the price tag. We enjoyed spending our evenings in the common room downstairs around the fire. Also the breakfast each morning was outstanding!! The staff were some of the most kind and accommodating people we have encountered. Will stay again 100% if we are ever back in the area.

Breakfast was okay. All of the reviews raved and I did not think they were accurate. Spread on table was nice. Host asked what we wanted for breakfast without indicating what was available (eggs? pancakes? something else?)

Directions to the room could have been clearer. You needed to take the two flights of steps - to get to the room. And they should indicaate that to access the one bathroom in the suite, you need to walk through the second bedroom. No problem, but potential guests should be informed. Mostly - I have never stayed at a hotel or inn at this price in which there was no hair conditioner (just shampoo and soap) and no tissues (I asked, and received a box) - I don't know if they were trying to save money or what, but this was a negative.

A magical stay in Bruges.

This B&B is exceptional. The location is central and the suites are spacious and beautifully decorated. Bert is a fantastic host, breakfast is delicious, made with high quality ingredients and served in the most beautiful room. I would highly recommend staying here, you won’t be disappointed.

So much missed potential. Truly good elements mixed with neglect. We ended our stay after 1 night.

The location and the "idea" of this stay was good. The main house seemed overall good. The breakfast was excellent.

The cottage was listed as fully renovated in 2024. The upstairs bathroom seemed legitimately remodeled and nothing else. The stair treads heading upstairs to the bedroom were about 5 inches deep - meaning that adult size feet were more off than on the tread - making it feel unsafe. Coming down the narrow staircase with those treads felt precarious and I did in fact slip and hurt my back. We couldn't take our bags upstairs because of the narrowness and treads on the staircase and therefore had to make more than average trips up and down to retrieve items. The cleanliness of the cottage was significantly lacking. The overall feel was that of an owner on a budget. Dirty old sponges in the kitchen, miss matched glassware, missing tiles in the kitchen and at the fireplace, 1/2 roll of toilet paper in the bathroom upon arrival.

Amazing and cozy place

The place is really nice, clean and cozy. The room was excellent for our family and the breakfast was delicious. The owner was always in close communication and willing to support. The instructions to find the place and come into the room were clear. This B&B it is really close to the city center, so this is a big plus. In general it was fantastic and if we come back to Brugge will be definitely our place to stay.

Perfect Location on the Canal

The breakfast was incredible. The setting was beautiful and the host made us feel well taken care of. The food was delicious with eggs/bacon & salmon all offered as well as espresso drinks and housemade yogurt.

Little gem in the center of Brugge with stylish rooms & a beautiful garden!

Wonderful place in the middle of Brugge. Everything is walkable. The host Bert is very nice and the backyard and the breakfast are awesome! The rooms are very stylish. We can 100% recommend this B&B and will definitley come back next time in Brugge.

Since it is an old house, it can be a bit noisey, which dind't bother us, but if you are sensitiv to that, you habe to be aware of it.

Beautiful B&B in stunning location, we loved it 🥰

Fabulous location in Bruges. Good communication with owner. Breakfast lovely. Enjoyed homemade yogurt with view of beautiful canal. Friendly staff. Stayed in the two separate Attic rooms upstairs, we thought they were connected but they are separate, which was fine for us. Stairs steep if carrying a lot of luggage, but worth it as attic rooms are stunning and very tastefully refurbished. The washing machine is communal and in use mostly by the B&B, but staff were helpful in folding my laundry when it was finished. Would love to come back and see it fully finished. There were workmen onsite, so probably won’t take long to finish.

We only booked one night 😏 Although the rooms are beautifully modernised they weren’t quite finished. My kids room didn’t have lighting in the shower or toilet, just wires sticking out. In our room there was a terrible smell coming from the drain in the shower that smelt like cabbage. Owner kindly offered to let us change room, but it was late, we had already taken all of our luggage up the steep stairs and settled in. We ran the shower and the smell got a little better. The overhead shower head had virtually no water coming from it, it was a trickle so used the hand shower which was lovely and powerful. (Probably just teething problems.) The air con unit had all exposed wiring, not yet finished and some skirting board off. Probably shouldn’t allow anyone to stay here until it’s finished, but glad they did as it’s still beautiful. We blocked that of the room off with our bags so our dog couldn’t hurt herself.

We loved it at B&B Barabas. It made our stay in Bruges that much more enjoyable.

The breakfasts by the canal were a highlight. Bert and all the staff were terrific. Overlooking the garden from our room was delightful. And the location couldn't have been better.

The main thing is that the housekeeping was not thorough. The floors in our room were sandy and not very clean. But that didn't detract much from our excellent experience.

Perfect trip in a stunning B+B with a wonderful location.

Barabas is stunning and it's location could not be more perfect. Bert, the host, was wonderful. We stayed in the attic rooms (six adults across two rooms- one sleeping four people and one sleeping two people). These rooms have been recently refurbished. We were made aware before arrival that some finishing touches were still left to do so although the rooms were not fully completed for our stay we found the rooms to be large enough and comfy enough for our stay. As we were celebrating a birthday, Bert was able to arrange balloons and decorations for breakfast and we had the same table each morning. Breakfast was out of this world and nothing was too much trouble for Bert and Hilda. I would stay again.

More mirrors and more clothes hanging spaces would have been prefered but I assume these are the things that will be completed soon. The room for four adults only had tea and coffee facilties for two people (two didn't drink coffee so it wasn't an issue for our group). The toilet layout for both rooms is quirky and as long as you are travelling with close friends/ family, it shouldn't be an issue. Toilet cubicles in both rooms open into the room and have grey frosted glass doors which become slightly more transparent with the light on. They also have a gap around the doors so they aren't a 'sealed' room. The four person room has the sink in a separate bathroom so if someone is in the shower you have to enter the bathroom to wash your hands. The two person room has sinks in the room and the shower cubilcle also opens into the room, with same frosted glass door as the toilet. We are a close group of friends so it was fine for us and we all agreed we would 100% stay there again. These were just the quirks we noticed and we would highly recommend this accommodation!
