The Cotton Rooms is a superbly renovated and furnished apartment right in the heart of the popular Peak District town of Matlock, sleeping up to three people in two bedrooms. It provides perfect accommodation for couples, young families or single travellers wanting to stay in style and enjoy all that the Peak District has to offer.

The luxurious apartment tastefully mixes the characterful features of the old building with new and modern interior styling. Every detail is thought of with high quality cotton sheets and mattresses making for a cosy and relaxing stay. In the living room, the huge windows with wooden blinds allow light to stream in to the open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge areas. While Matlock offers many fantastic restaurants, The Cotton Rooms' kitchen is fully equipped to cook up a feast should guests prefer a night in.

A reserved parking space is available for guests' use and is included in the price.

The Cotton Rooms is right in the heart of the popular village of Matlock - there are numerous pubs, cafes and independently run shops in easy walking distance from the front door. Once famed for its hydro and spa treatments, Matlock's central location, scenic surroundings and public transport links make it a popular base for exploring the best of the Peak District and Derbyshire. The Cotton Rooms is therefore the perfect base for walkers with many circular walks starting and ending in the town.

Crown Square and the river Derwent lie at the heart of Matlock, and the gateway to award-winning Hall Leys Park with its boating lake, riverside walks, tennis courts and skateboard park. For a trip back in time, hop on a steam or diesel train operated by Peak Rail from Matlock to Rowsley, or head for nearby Crich Tramway Village and pay an old penny to ride on a vintage tram. Guests can alternatively head for the Heights of Abraham and take a cable car ride between spectacular limestone cliffs and wooded slopes for panoramic views of the Derwent Valley.

We liked the apartment itself, it’s very nicely furnished. However there are blinds but no curtains. Blackout curtains are needed. The door needs some attention, as it looks like people have been slamming it to close. The wood post on the outside was loose. Unfortunately we had extremely heavy rain, which resulted in a leaking ceiling. We reported the leak and was told the owners would be contacted and see if maintenance was available. No one checked to see if we were ok. We really feel that for the price we paid, and it could have been handled better. We shouldn’t have to be worrying about it the whole time. Spoilt our stay.

The apartment was comfortable and spotless and in an ideal location for all local areas. Only fault a little noisy at nighttime but that can be expected on a main road. Suggest you take earplugs.

The apartment was beautiful. Made us very comfortable. Everything you could possibly want was in the apartment. Excellent home furnishings and decor. Nice style. The location was excellent if you drove, as Matlock baths was 25 minutes walkrely on public transport. The property is situated on a main town road with heavy traffic.

Lovely apartment in a great location, everything we needed. Easy to park with the Rover pass around the back of the apartment. Very neat, clean, tidy and comfortable. Highly recommend a visit to the Viva Italian restaurant a few doors down.

location The kitchen is not well equipped: no lids on scratched saucepans, no cafetiere, no complimentary shower gel etc, loo seat loose, no manuals apart from Henry, fire extinguisher inaccessible, bathroom towel rail didn't work - again, no manual. And the mortice lock needs attention - we were almost locked out one of the days. We booked it when it said that there was a fridge freezer - in fact there is a fridge, but no freezer box, which is inconvenient. There were a variety of issues: please refer to emails sent to Olivers Travels. ( We do not make a habit of complaining! But this property did not live up to expectations.)

We agree with other reviews that say the bar across from us was quite noisy with music but we got used to it (and found it quite amusing!) and it didn’t go on too late into the night. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Decor was simple and pleasing, rooms had everythng you needed, for example, hairdryer, cleaning products and cooking implements It was cold and wet, checkin was 4pm, there was no heating on. It would have been more welcoming if it was cosy. We also had no hot water. I spoke to Ian, who was charming, but couldn"t solve it straight away, so, no hot shower! As there was hot water the next day, I feel the boiler had not been on long, adding to the chill on arrival. We did get the radiators on and it warmed up nicely.

The location, the decor, the communication was all superb! Easily found as the address was clearly given to us beforehand with details to retrieve the key. Council parking behind the place was great and very good value. Details were sent to us to get a permit but we didn't bother with this. Lovely bars and restaurants right outside the door. We absolutely loved it and will definitely book again.

Good location in Matlock, handy for bars and food. Supermarkets close by. Free parking, which was in an odd place, but I had no problems. The apartment was spotless, the beds were comfy, plenty of hot water from the shower. A really good choice, and at a very fair price. Two separate bedrooms, one double, one single bed. The extract fan in the shower/toilet didn't seem to work, and it could get quite funky in there. The entrance door was a challenge when we arrived, the owner warned us there was a knack to it, and we soon got used to it but maybe it should be fixed. couple of things you would expect to find, like bottle opener/corkscrew, and toilet brush were not there, also, there were no instructions for any of the machinesthe heating. worst thing was the noise from the bar across the road which kept us awake till 1:30. I am sure this wouldn't be a problem during the week, but we went Friday and Saturday, and it was crazy.

Location, high quality furnishings with homely touches. The apartment had everything we needed, and more, for a wonderfully relaxing, luxurious break. Bathroom could have done with an extractor fan and the sensor light in the hall took some heating used to but these were absolutely MINOR complared to how much we loved the place.

Comfortable, spacious apartment, perfect for three people. Decor was modern and stylish. Although it was self-catering I had expected basics like salt & pepper. This is what is usually provided in properties like this and would be really helpful. The noise from the bar opposite was loud on the Saturday night but finished at a reasonable hour Otherwise the property was excellent.

The property was beautiful and very comfortable, had a cozy vibe to it and was lovely and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was nice and big. The windows were single glazed which meant it was a little noisy as there are bars outside the apartment and then the sound of vehicles on the main road, but it wasn’t unbearable.

Beautifully decorated and well equipped apartment with everything you could need. Great attention to detail. Bed comfortable and clean. Stayed over a weekend, so on the Saturday night was very noisy with bar opposite (music and people outside smoking). Sunday was abit better (bank holiday so still very busy) Ear plugs provided were definitely needed.

Great central location if you want to have restaurants and bars on your doorstep. Not so great if you don't want to be in the heart of it. Very close walking to other areas and park to rear with river and close to car park, nice little coffee shop to rear. Fitted out nicely, nice and clean. Really the only downside was there should be blackout curtains on the bedroom windows. The light comes in early through the slatted blinds and if you want to grab a lie-in the rooms are flooded with light. A few tea bags and/or coffee would\ve also been a bonus.

Overall the apartment is very nicely and decorated and finished to a high standard, and the bedding is extremely comfortable. For the price it cost, I would’ve appreciated some items such as tea/coffee. And the private car parking provided was in an area I didn’t feel 100% comfortable leaving my car due to it being surrounded by abandoned buildings with broken windows.

The Cotton Rooms was perfectly located for everything in Matlock, plus lots of walks nearby. Spotlessly clean and with lots of added touches, including a lovely Christmas tree! Just a bit noisy on the road at night but it was New Year and we were next to a few pubs so was as expected. Great stay, would definitely go back!

Lovely stylish and comfortable apartment with luxury touches . Very comfortable pillows and beds. Perhaps there could be a few more general cleaning products. Washing up liquid , disposable cloths for wiping sides and toilet brush and air freshener would have been useful. Also a visitor book for recommendations and more Info on local attractions and walks etc

This is a very stylish uber uber clean pad in the heart of Matlock. There is some road noise but that is to be expected in central locations. it is next door to coffee shops and opposite nice cocktail bars. The kitchen is spotless with a fridge ( no freezer) & all amenities including a dishwasher. We loved our stay. Thank you

Really lovely place to stay, super easy check-in with parking nearby. All amenities you need. A little cold with single glazed windows, but good heaters to warm you up. No boot room if you are hiking, but loads of space throughout the flat. Smart TV and fast internet is perfect for those rainy afternoons.

Matlock is a perfect base with lovely cafes and bars in the town. Having a car space was perfect as we were able to explore places like Chatsworth and Chee dale with ease. The flat was spotless and apart from the hum of traffic at busy times it was nice and quiet. Great bonus having a music speaker and TV with Netflix etc when we had one rainy day!

This is a fantastic apartment, very well located and great for using as a base to explore Derbyshire. Parking is around the corner and there are some great cafés, bars and restaurants nearby. The apartmentwas spotless and well equipped. Would definitely stay again.

The decor, the location, the small touches and amenities. The keys safe was tricky to get into and the locks on the internal apartment door a little stiff, probably because they’re still very new. We loved the blinds which allowed us to wake up to natural light but not all will like this.
