The property is beautiful, so welcoming and homely. The owners live in the house next door and we’re so friendly.

Fantastic setting behind beautiful old rectory. so tranquil and surrounded by fields, walks and wildlife, yet only 10 minutes to Chard. Comfortable, spacious rooms with everything I needed. Perfect garden and two new friends for my spaniel to play with and a lovely host who was attentive in all the right ways - thank you for the greenhouse nectarines and the outdoor seat cushions which just magically appeared! I loved every minute.
Absolutely nothing.

The hosts were wonderful, friendly and helpful, both in communicating before I arrived and during my stay (during Easter holidays). Directions to the property were brilliant but I'd still advise a satnav as the roads to the village can be a bit confusing (and sometimes a bit remote) if unfamiliar to the area or country driving. I was greeted on arrival and made to feel welcome - hosts were relaxed and happy to help as much or as little as needed, recognising that many people use the property to seek peace and quiet in the countryside; no fuss but ready to help in any way.
The property is just next to the family home which was great if I had any questions or advice but not at all intrusive. I had my own private garden area and the loft isn't overlooked, rather there are wonderful views of an open field and wooded area.
The interior is comfortable and beautifully eclectic. One of the electrical kitchen items wasn't working but it was no trouble for the hosts to offer an immediate replacement. I had a pet bird with me and this was no problem at all for these animal-loving hosts. Car parking available on the lawn driveway just in front of the rental property.
Great location for country walks, bird watching, trips (by car) to all sites in that part of Somerset and nearby Devon and Dorset - I enjoyed visiting several coastal areas between 30-45 minutes drive away.
Worth being aware that access to the property is via a set of stairs on the outside of the building (not unsurprising since it's a loft!). The internet and phone signal was a bit weak but still able to cope with a bit of online TV/movie viewing, emails, etc. There's a little church next door and a converted red telephone box providing lots of local information and walks but no other amenities nearby - all of these are small inconveniences for such a lovely countryside location, ideal for a retreat. I prefer a shower, rather than a bath - but, although a bit awkward to use, the fab free-standing rolltop bath did have an extended shower from the taps.

We liked the serenity of the accommodation, very private from the owners. However, Heather and Angus were on hand if we required anything, and were very keen to ensure we made the most of our stay and had everything we required. We realized that we were in a rural setting but we were so impressed by the surrounding countryside, and also by the fact that we were only a short drive from some beautiful coastal villages.
We enjoyed some lovely walks, and had some lovely meals in local pubs, recommended by Heather and Angus.
After very tiring day walking returned to very comfortable setting.
My husband being six foot seven, would have preferred shower rather than the rolled top bath.

Location was amazing - such a quiet and relaxing place to spend time. Great walks from the door. Everything you need to have a relaxing break. Hosts lovely and the bread that was left by Heather was a welcome bonus.

The room sizes were good, the kitchen was well stocked, fresh home made loaf was a nice touch. The setting was tranquil and relaxing. The keys were left in the door for us although we were welcomed on arrival.

Tranquil setting yet only 2 miles away from civilization :) Central to beaches and places of interest...Forde Abbey was glorious!
Stables is nestled in the owners pretty garden yet very private with beautiful and relaxing views. Spotlessly clean, delightful eclectic furnishings and very friendly, considerate hosts.
Thank you for such a lovely holiday🙏

It was self catering
A bit more attention to detail such as a shaver power point and a mirror with light.
Maybe a washing machine as its self catering

Gorgeous property in a fantastic location. We were made to feel very welcome and our dogs absolutely loved Pip! The kitchen was well equipped for us to self cater if needed and there were a few supermarkets within easy driving distance, however there were also plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from. There was lots to do in the local area in terms of walking and there were lots of famous sights within driving distance. Property was very spacious for our two dogs who also loved their stay! Highly recommend, great value for money.

My wife and eldest son spent a week here and had an amazing time in a beautiful and peaceful setting with an exceptional host. They needed to be close to Ilminster for compassionate family reasons and this idyllic rural retreat provided centre for their mission. we plan to return soon...

Fantastic quiet & secluded place to stay, nice central location that's perfect for exploring Somerset (a little under an hour and a half from Monkey World and about an hour to get to Weymouth). Additionally, there are some highly enjoyable foot paths in Chaffcombe to go for a stroll, Owners are helpful and friendly; on arrival they greeted us and there's a well prepared pack explaining things like WiFI code, how to work the log burner, etc. Property itself is spacious and pleasant with a nicely kitted out kitchen (numerous pots and pans, oven, hobs, coffee machine, etc) so you have all the tools to knock up a tasty meal in the evening.
There isn't anything to dislike in my opinion but just in case people aren't aware; there are a few fair spiders (it's the countryside so this IS to be expected), also the lanes are narrow so do drive carefully. As I say, these aren't things that bothered us but if you are an arachnophobe or haven't experienced driving down a 1 car road before, it could be a surprise.
