Lovely, spacious cottage tastefully decorated with everything we needed for our 4 nights. Peaceful and quiet location surrounded by farms and looking out to a mini orchard and horse paddocks, but still a very short drive to town and to the Jurassic Coast sites. Friendly and helpful hosts. A great base to use for exploring the surrounding areas, but equally nice to relax in and enjoy the cottage and surrounds itself. Kids loved the large loft/mezzanine shared bedroom. Well equipped kitchen to easily cook meals in. Would recommend for a family or couple.

The kitchen/diner is an excellent space and the upstairs bedroom is enormous and the kids loved it!

Beautiful location, rural but only 15 minutes into village walking. Cottage overlooked paddock with ponies and horses. The pheasants were always around, sound sleep had by all. Evenings were peaceful, owls could be heard clearly, and a lush starry sky uninterrupted by lights. Property was in good order, spacious for my teens to hang out and me to relax. Kitchen well equipped and roomy. Personally, I liked the split level, and my children did too. Lovely outside space, overlooking the hills and paddocks, just a shame the weather didn't allow us to utilise these fully. We all slept soundly only a local Cockerell crowing in the morning. No other noise. Idyllic location and cottageđź’›
Local walks to be explored if your hiking. 15 minutes to the beach by car if you enjoy the coast.
Nothing in particular. I am fussy. Bathroom bin could do with a bleach but that's it. I cleaned out the kitchen bin.

PLEASE NOTE the house has 5 beds max, not the 7 stated in 2 places by Booking.com, which the owner tells us is difficult to get corrected.
Old Orchard Cottage, its surroundings and farm setting couldn’t be nicer. Lots of beach options, along with places to visit and keep the kids occupied. Ours (4, 6 & 12) loved Crealy theme park, Pecorama and eating at the Cow and Bean in Axminster.
We love the high ceiling in the kitchen and the grand fireplace gives the sitting room real character. Everything we needed was there and having the master bedroom away from the upstairs one was ideal for a bit of peace and quiet from children/teenagers wanting to sleep in.
Beware Devon’s roads might be narrower and more worn than you’re used to in places, so take them with a little caution.

Gorgeous cottage set within idyllic Devonshire countryside including a babbling river and miles of footpaths for walking the dog. Much bigger than looks in the photos and the double height space in the kitchen is a lovely space. Stocked with everything you need for a self-catered stay including a super comfy bed.
Extremely dog friendly owners and the cottage has a private (very pretty) garden (though it is not fully enclosed for a dog who likes to explore)

The cottage exceeded our expectations. Our dog, Ecco, thoroughly enjoyed his stay including swimming in the river Coly that is 150 yds down a lane from the cottage. The cottage provides a safe environment for children and pets with outside eating area. There are walks directly from the cottage.

cosy vibes, lovely comfortable bed in the master room. great kitchen with everything you need, loved the children’s room above the kitchen. great to see horses from the windows. great location for lots of beautiful walks and a 15 min drive from the stunning Lyme Regis, which we fell in love with. lovely hosts too, very attentive and left lovely welcome treats for us. The place was spotless. The photos on booking.com really don’t do the place justice, a lot has changed since they were taken.
A very small critique, the bathroom could do with a little tlc and the single beds were a little hard in the children’s room.

We loved the location on the East Down’s Way with many lovely local walks. Our favourite from Beer to Branscome with a lovely cafe and pub - The Mason’s Arms. Very friendly and helpful owners.

Very good host. We had a great organic apple juice produced at the farm. Great clean cottage. Perfect for a family to enjoy farm life.

It had a lovely farmhouse style but with all mod cons
The open staircase to the upstairs bedroom which didn’t have a toilet or en-suite wouldn’t be suitable for less mobile people.

The property is ten to fifteen minutes walk (a rather blissful one) from Colyton, a vibrant village with a selection of fantastic pubs and cafes. There are horses and ponies that will visit you each morning as you enjoy breakfast on the patio. The barnhouse is clean and fully equipped. Will absolutely come again.
No comment! If you are happy with looking after yourself it is perfect.

Quiet rural location, comfortable accomodation, big hallway, terrace to sit on, spacious lounge, flowers on kitchen table on arrival
Would have been easier if there had been another toilet room.
More kitchen equipment would have been appreciated e.g. mixing bowl, microwavable dishes, serving utensils

Great location. River walks, either into the Devon countryside or into Colyton, and a few minutes drive from the Jurassic coast and SW coastal path. Very comfortable both indoors and on the patio. Peaceful and relaxing, and the sun was shining.
