Almost nothing. Great location and apartment was clean.
So many flights of stairs to get to the top floor apartment. The stairs were narrow and dangerous, especially when carrying luggage. The apartment is a death trap, with no means of escape if there is a fire on the lower floor. Our car was damaged in the poorly lit garage and repairs will be £800. Although the check-in staff member contributed to the accident, no compensation was forthcoming.
We could not recommend this apartment to anybody. After 2 days, we booked into a hotel despite having paid for 4 nights. Things were that bad.

The stairs were steep but not a deal breaker. The toilet is seperate from the bathroom and perhaps could use a hand basin. You'll need a torch to see the numbers on the keysafe.

A 4pm check in is ridiculous late and nowhere to leave luggage, in the end we just got the keys at 2pm and let ourselves in but we could have got in earlier if someone had called us to let us know

Conveniently close to town centre, well equipped kitchen, comfortable bedding, comfortable sitting room.
Also the local rep of the apartment's agency in St Malo was very efficient, handled our difficulty in accessing the apartment (see below)within minutes of being alerted by Booking.com and solved my problem immediately.
1. STAIRS: I saw no warning that the apt was up a flight of 50+ stairs - it mattered because we are 79 and 80 years resp. We would not have chosen this apartment if we had known.
2. KEYBOX TO APT: Confusing/ambiguous instructions for finding the apartment door. It is described as on the 3rd floor but I erroneously counted the Rez de chaussee (ground floor) as number 1 meaning that I tried to put the code into a key box one floor below the correct floor. As a precaution I climbed up to the next floor (i.e. what was in fact the correct floor) where there was a single door to an apartment (see photo). I ignored it because no key box was visible anywhere. What I failed to do was climb right up to the door - with my nose just a few inches from the door the key box becomes visible behind a wooden post to the right of the door. IT WILL HELP TO LABEL THE DOOR SHOWING THE NAME OF THE APARTMENT ALSO TO DESCRIBE THE APARTMENT AS BEING ON THE TOP FLOOR (SOME CULTURES DO REGARD THE GROUND FLOOR AS NUMBER 1)
3 BOOKING.COM HELPLINE: I could not get through to the local phone number given on the booking.com printout (ah yes - another problem) so rang the Booking.com number in UK for help in this matter. A bot dealt with the call and repeatedly failed to recognise the 10 digit number of my booking regardless of whether given by voice or by keypad. Eventually it accepted the keypad input but that wasted many many minutes and aggravated our anxiety. A.I. may be very fashionable but it was not fit for the task in this instance. Owners have often told me what a large commission Booking.com charge so please spend some money on using real humans to help your customers when they are in trouble.

The apartment was stunning. Really clean and comfortable.. gorgeous decor. Beds were like clouds to sleep in. Huge bonus was having private carpark. Highly recommend. Location was ideal. Right beside ramparts and few mins walk to shops and restaurants.

A fantastic apartment in a perfect location inside the cities walls. Close to everything including the beach. Comfortable with great beds and view of the sea.
The stairs but no there is nothing that can be done about that in this building. It did work on our fitness over the 8 days we stayed.

Die Lage ist phänomenal: in der großartigen Altstadt von Saint-Malo! Mit dieser Tatsache sind sicher aber auch die Dinge verbunden, die man nicht so toll findet… Und es war trotz zentraler Lage sehr ruhig! Und auch wichtig für Reisende mit dem Pkw: es gibt eine zugehörige Garage, denn Parkmöglichkeiten sind rar!
Die Wohnung liegt im 3. Stock - das Treppenhaus ist eng und der Gepäcktransport mühsam. Der Schlüsseltresor zum Selbst-Check-in war nicht leicht zu finden - da wären etwas detailliertere Informationen für die Ankunft hilfreich gewesen.
