This was a very enjoyable break with good food in a friendly relaxed atmosphere.

The breakfasts were very good with a good choice. Coffee was also very good and the atmosphere very friendly and relaxed. Our evening meal was of a high standard.

Really nice staff and a very quiet and comfy overnight stop.

The location was very peaceful in a quiet village without much traffic. The room size was great with a good size wardrobe if it was needed. The bed was really comfortable with great pillows and bedding. TV on the wall was in a good place and had lots of channels. The bathroom is very big ... but the bath was very narrow which is odd. It has an electric power shower - which actually worked surprisingly well good news!

Bring a battery power bank - there were no free mains sockets near the bed. Sadly, the restaurant was closed on Mondays which meant a drive out of the village into Oakham itself.

The perfect pub with rooms - great beer, great food and great service all at a decent price.

The accommodation, food and service were all excellent. The rooms a re little on the small side but that is a minor inconvenience when the service and welcome is so very good. We hope to visit again and would highly recommend people to stay here.

Fabulous country pub

We had such a lovely stay! Yolanda and Chris are truly exceptional hosts—kind, thoughtful, and not afraid to go the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. Their wonderful team shares the same spirit of care and hospitality. The food was excellent, and our rooms were spotless, comfortable, and inviting. The atmosphere is cozy, friendly, and relaxed, with the genuine charm of a traditional village inn. Wonderful.

Cozy pub vibes

Arrived on a wet and windy day to a roaring long fire, a warm and welcoming ambience, truly excellent food and great service. We had a lovely overnight stay, a super breakfast and were well looked after throughout.

A little gem in the heart of Rutland

Much more about the people than the property. Chris and the team were lovely from start to finish…the food was great and the ambiance was wonderful. If you are looking for a B&B for a couple of nights then I couldn’t recommend the is enough

Autumn away day

Our second stay at the White Lion Inn and hopefully we'll be back for a third! Our room was exceptionally clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was well cooked with plenty of choice and service with a smile. Evening meals were also amazing - thoroughly recommend the pork chop with black pudding crumb.

Great location, rural but accessible and parking outside door. Very welcoming and rustic charm with high end service and facilities. Great evening meal and great breakfast, made to feel at home. Totally recommend to anyone needing or tempted to stay in this area.

Everything!!! Owners were very friendly and helpful. We had an evening meal and this was delicious. Also had a full English Breakfast (which was included in the price) This was also excellent. If we were in this area again would certainly return!!!

Very enjoyable one night stay

Lovely property in a gorgeous setting with beautiful hanging baskets all round it and seating area outside.It had a lovely feel to it as you entered. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and tastefully decorated. We had a very nice evening meal. The cheesecake was phenomenal! Breakfast was delicious with a good choice and I believe served by the lovely owner. Would definitely stay there again if in the area.

This pub with rooms was a really good find.

Very comfortable with a homely feel, the young lady who booked us on was friendly and helpful, she explained the layout of the bar, restaurant and showed us to a spacious and spotless room. Diner that evening was really tasty and breakfast the next morning was just as good. A very good overnight stay.

Nice to find a pub without loud music blaring. Good choice of drinks. Staff and locals were very friendly and helpful. Food was very good - although a little 'pricey' - and several items on the menu were not available! Room was clean, but rather small. Generally - it was a pleasant stay - and would go back.

Great food for both dinner and breakfast, nice choice of local beers and friendly couple running the place. Perfect for a stopover and some nice villages to visit nearby. A quiet night's sleep too.

A thoroughly enjoyable stay with delightful, friendly staff and comfortable rooms.

The White Lion is a beautiful inn in a delightful village. I stayed with my elderly mother. The landlords and the staff could not have been more accommodating, welcoming and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. I would definitely stay here again .

I could only get freezing cold or scalding hot water from my shower but to be fair this could have been down to my own stupidity.
