This is a really nice family run hotel near the centre of Oakham. The town has a lot of history, is well worth visiting and is next to Rutland Water which is England's largest reservoir.
Nothing at all.

Very clean and well looked after hotel set in the middle of the town. Staff very friendly and helpful. Comfortable room with a lovely bed.
Breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked but a few more options would be great.

Comfortable room, good sized bath and hot water in ensuite.
Warm room.
Bed was a bit short in length for me.

Always get a good sleep here, staff in the morning are great.
1) I find it annoying that there are no plug sockets by the bedside.
2) Would be nice to have some decent "non-pork" options for breakfast i.e. chicken/beef sausages and/pr turkey rashers

I was so impressed with this hotel. It had a warm, friendly vibe about it, the rooms were well decorated and the bed really comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and the staff really friendly and helpful. Such good value for money.
Absolutely nothing. Couldn't fault it.

The Wisteria is a very welcoming hotel with friendly staff. Good breakfast and large comfy able rooms.
Unfortunately I was disappointed with the condition of the windows in our bedroom , soaking wet and very mouldy due to non cleaning. The same in the breakfast room. Also the duvet on the spare bed was not thick enough for the time of year ( minus temp )

We have stayed at the Wisteria a couple of times now; this time it was our 25th anniversary celebration. They went out of their way and left a congratulations card in the room with complimentary drinks. We also had dinner at the restaurant and the service, and staff are always amazing. The owner of the restaurant even remembered us from the last visit. The chef did something really special by writing Happy Anniversary on a plate with chocolate and two macaroons it was amazing. The food has been exceptional every time we eat there. The food is top quality taste and presentation.

The hotel dates back to 1604 so was a mix of the very old (low ceilings, exposed beams etc) and the new but it all blended in well. The staff were very welcoming and the food was excellent both for an evening meal and for breakfast.
Nothing to report on the dislike front

The room was comfy and the bathroom was a good size.
The doors/walls were quite thin, so we were woken up by other guests being in the hallway very early in the morning.

Lovely family run hotel. The location in Oakham is near to shops. I liked everything about The Wisteria hotel even the Wisteria patterned carpet. The staff were lovely, the food was excellent, we were kindly greeted at breakfast and there was a great choice of food. The restaurant food was also excellent There was always help from the freindly receptionists. Housekeeping were kind and brought our cases down in the morning with the receptionist taking them up for us when we arrived. The rooms were beautifully decorated and clean with excellent en suite, comfy bed, kettle, tea and coffee, hairdryer.I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
It was all good.

Bright, large room, very clean, and very friendly and helpful staff...Really pleased there was a parking space available with good directions for finding the car park.
The bed was not very comfortable but acceptable... However, the room was cold and even with the radiator turned to full, it never really warmed up... I had my coat on the bed for extra warmth

The facilities were lovely. The room was configured as requested and spacious. Staff were friendly and helpful. We were visiting with two other family couples, who were also pleased with their accommodations. Breakfast was very nice indeed, with plenty of choice through pain chocolat, toast, yoghurts, fruits, cereals to lovely menu choices for cooked breakfast.
Signage to the Hotel entrance could be more prominent. In the dark, it took two drive-by attempts to locate the access point. Parking was indeed very limited. Fortunately, we were able to acquire the last two spaces for our party, as we checked in reasonably early. The hotel recommends a Pay to Park private car park opposite, with a limited stay of 2 hours (only?). Not sure how we would have managed if we hadn't been able to park at the Wisteria. Guests need to investigate alternative parking options.

Location was good for me as I was attending a function hundred yards away.
Disappointed that the advertised car park was full luckily could park in the public car park next door.
The room is pretty average quite bland really. Bathroom was average virtually their toiletries.
Excellent breakfast served by extremely friendly lady.
When I first arrived, the reception staff very grumpy.
They mellowed after a while.
Lack of proper stair rail going up the first flight of stairs as I have a bit of difficulty going upstairs

Very clean, well kept provincial, business-suitable oriented hotel in v good condition throughout. On site, off street parking also a bonus
No complaints though note that breakfast is not included in the base price.

Nothing memorable about this hotel.
Paper thin walls and therefore a lot of noise carrying through to the rooms. At 5.30am I was woken by a water tank pump and then by staff putting waste in the bins in the car park below my room

8.0 / 10.0
Extremy friendly and helpful staff, both at breakfast and on reception.
Sadly, the boilers failed in a large part of the hotel, which had no hot water. However, the really helpful person on reception gave me access to another room that did have hot water, so I was able to have a shower, very appreciative of that gesture.

The Wisteria Hotel in Oakham is an absolute delight. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality that make you feel right at home. The hotel itself is full of charm and character, with a cosy, welcoming atmosphere that perfectly blends comfort and style.
The real highlight, however, is the restaurant. The food is outstanding — beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with care and passion. Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted, and the menu offers a wonderful balance of classic favourites and creative twists.
What truly sets the Wisteria apart is the staff. They’re attentive, professional, and incredibly friendly, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience from start to finish.
Whether you’re visiting Oakham or just looking for a memorable meal in a lovely setting, the Wisteria Hotel is not to be missed. Highly recommended!
Amenities in the room could include a bottle of water

Friendly staff. Central location. Evening meal in Hunters was faultless. Later I learnt this is a separate company. Lady on reception was lovely and dealt with our complaints in a speedy and professional manner.
Room too hot. Couldn't open window. No ventilation. Couldn't sleep. Engagement party in a separate part of the hotel, extremely raucous.
Breakfast was diabolical and gave me food poisoning as black pudding was not cooked properly.

Easy booking system. Hotel was almost fully booked.
Suite was lovely, clean and provided everything you could want.
Reception staff booking us in were very friendly and helpful. Good impression.
Bed on the soft side but overall impression was excellent.
Quite a lot of noise from children running up and down stairs outside our room but didn’t affect us- they seemed very happy!
Breakfast was buffet style as hotel was full and wasn’t very hot. Good quality bacon though 👌🏼
Door in and out of kitchen banged loudly every time staff came and went which was annoying first thing in the morning.

Twin Room large enough, with good space between beds. Ground floor, so no stairs to navigate with luggage. All lights worked. Good location for Oakham and Rutland.
Generally a bit shabby round the edges. Old dark pine wardrobe in room, completely incongruous with decor and had a handle missing. Bathroom was big and shower good but sink very small in comparison. Breakfast was mediocre ( although waitress very pleasant and helpful). The most expensive stay I've had over the summer and the least value for money.
