Lovely to see the lakes a shame about the cold night and the hot water problems.

The location was nice, & the views.

The response from Victoria is something I really did not like… I messaged on the first night to inform her that the heating wasn’t working. Victoria did not reply until the second night at 10pm this reply was after I had to contact her a second time to inform her that the hot water had then gone off. She made out like it was simple and “just needed boosting” but the thermostat was locked and we could not do it our end. She manually did it her end and so the second night was warmer (late evening 10pm onwards). All I did was inform her on exiting that the chopping boards really smelt of onion and she took extreme offence and sent me a rude message back. I only wanted to let her know because I personally was offended by it and I did not want her to think I had used it and not washed it. She said I was the first to complain and she was rude to me. Albeit even if I was the first to complain I should have been far more annoyed about not having heating or hot water but Victoria homed in on the chopping board comment. Unfortunately I feel that her response spoke volumes. See photos taken from the final day which shows how the accommodation was left and you can also see the back garden in the bedroom photos. I left the property immaculate as I appreciated the stay. We did use the log fire burner, so I am not sure why this woman is trying to be so defensive. At the end of the day the simple fact is that this woman was vile and she clearly cannot deal with any form of constructive criticism.

We stayed as a family of four—two adults, two children (11 and 14)—plus our hairless dog, and we couldn’t have been more impressed. After spending two nights in Yorkshire, this cottage completely exceeded our expectations. The location was ideal, the interior beautifully finished, and everything was spotlessly clean. The secure garden gave us peace of mind with the dog, and thoughtful touches like tea, coffee, and milk on arrival made us feel instantly welcome. As someone with severe allergies to pet fur, I usually struggle when staying in places that have hosted animals. But here, I didn’t experience a single symptom—not even a sniffle—which speaks volumes about the immaculate cleanliness. It was such a relief to be able to breathe easy and truly relax. This cottage is not only stunning, but clearly cared for with pride. It’s exceptional value and a real credit to the owners. We’re so glad we booked—it made our trip unforgettable.

Lovely little find

Lovely little property! It was clean and comfy and had so many nice finishing touches! Everything was provided from dog bowls to boards games - even milk! The views from the garden are amazing and it is so quiet!

Excellent property with great view

We loved the cottage, everything you'd need in a home from home, with a great private view, considering it is dog friendly we found not one single dog hair which is impressive! The sofa and bed were both very comfortable and great shower pressure too. We liked the extra little touches of milk, pan au chocolate, plenty of teas etc and although we didn't use them the books, games etc are a great idea! Briefly met the hosts who are super friendly lovely people (we visited Windermere, ambleside and keswick during our stay which are all easily accessible and there is a pub 1 mile away called punch bowl that does nice pub grub)

Personal preference but a black out blind in the bedroom would be a benefit to us

The location was superb. The property was well laid out and amenities were very comfortable. The property was in a good location to drive around and do day trips from. The bed was superb.

The shower was a little tight for my 6”2 husband but that was about it and we expect that in most properties.

A beautifully presented cottage in a beautiful part of the country

What didn't we like. Everything was so well thought of from the Bath and Shower to the cutlery. We couldn't fault the property or the way that the hosts presented everything,in any way at all.

We struggled to find something we didn't like, but if we had to scrape the barrel and find something which was marginally less than the perfect standard set by everything else.....the coffee sachets could do with updating

Weekend of bliss @ The Orchards

Everything was perfect! This was our first ever weekend away from our kids in 21 years and i honestly couldnt of asked for more! Victoria was brilliant right from the initial booking. The location of the property, facilities, and personal touches at The Orchards were so special, we literally wanted for nothing throughout our entire stay! Such a fantastic & comfortable place, myself, my husband & our dog Colin cannot wait to come back & stay again. Thank you Victoria x

Lovely peaceful cottage out of the way, was a great stay!

We really enjoyed the views, the space and decor of the cottage. The owners are lovely and there were plenty of complementaries. We really liked that there was access to WiFi and Netflix. Appreciated this being very dog friendly and accommodating.

The mattresses were very springy so was quite noisy but comfortable regardless. Shower was piping hot and changing the lever wouldn’t change the temperature. However, there is a bath as an alternative. Hadn’t realised when booking, the toilet is an en-suite so anyone staying on the sofa bed has to come through the bedroom to go toilet in the night.

A charming cottage that exceeded our expectations in every way.

Upon making a last-minute reservation, we were pleasantly surprised when we received a call from the cottage owner within an hour, letting us know that the place was ready for us. The cottage itself was a delightful find. It was just perfect for two people and our furry friend. The interior was cozy and well-furnished, making us feel right at home. The cottage's proximity to the Lake District made it an ideal base for exploration, and we found ourselves exploring different trails and enjoying the tranquility of the countryside. After a day of (rainy) outdoor adventures, returning to our comfortable cottage was a joy. During our stay we encountered an issue with the toaster provided in the cottage. Without hesitation, we contacted the owner to inform them of the problem. They responded immediately and, within a short span of time, arrived at the cottage with another toaster in hand. What a great service! In summary, a charming cottage that exceeded our expectations in every way.

A prefect little getaway that welcome and accommodate dogs

Absolutely lovely little cottage, the doorstep view was amazing with a secure garden for our dog. The cottage itself was very clean and well equipped for the weekend stay, even provided treats and dog bowls for our dog. We was welcomed by the hosts who are very friendly and really accommodating. Lots of places to go hiking / walking and most local places are dog friendly. A perfect little getaway if you have a furry friend.

Lovely cottage, big and spacious. Enclosed garden which is perfect for the dogs. Has lots of little touches which is nice. Log burner is lovely.

We couldn’t get hot water for a period of time even though it was on. We were left brioche rolls that were 10 days out of date.
