keys worked
Noisy road with a broken manhole which made a horrible noise every time a vehicle went over it, which was often. The house smelt and was not clean. The property is a bit shabby which is fine but it was grimy and dirty which was not fine. The kitchen cupboards and microwave were dirty on the inside. The chain to open/close roller blinds were literally held together with thread. Plus there was mould on some of the windows.

My family and I loved the house - it was spacious and really comfortable .The owner has clearly really thought about how to make the property work whatever the weather having so many areas where you can enjoy the stunning view of the mountains . My family and I stayed for 5 days and were blessed with gorgeous weather so spent most of our time either in the conservatory, the terrace or the kitchen . If we had stayed in the winter I am sure we would have loved cosying up in the ground floor sitting room with the woodburner. My teenagers used it though as it had two comfy sofas and a big tv! I especially loved the very well equipped and stylish open plan kitchen/ diner / sitting room as it was such a bright sunny room where I could look out onto the mountains as I cooked. The owner left very generous welcome gifts which was really lovely too . Our son loved the huge, sunny attic room which contained two double beds. We were not sure what Blaenau Ffestiniogg would be like but we really liked it . The town has recently become a Unesco Heritage site because of the slate mines. Admittedly its not as pretty as places like Betws y Coed but we liked being in a real Welsh town plus it had 3 small supermarkets, a bakery, a great fish and chip shop, an indoor swimming pool ( useful if wet ) and a tardis like old book shop. Parking is great - on the loading and unloading days we parked on the road just outside the garden gate but the rest of the time because we had a largeish van it was easier to park in the free car park just 50m from the house.
Nothing.

Beautiful house, literally home from home. It was a hidden gem. My husband and teenage boys just loved the house, which was a perfect base for exploring. We all loved it and would definitely return.
The pictures do not do it justice.
The only issue was the parking, and that was because the weather was so bad and it was dark we didn't know where we was going on the first night but in the daylight things made sense

Beautiful, spacious property, great place to rest after a day out, great views. Just be careful if you are going to park on the back road as it's pretty narrow and steep, still perfectly manageable as long as you feel confident behind the wheel.
Little let down by the cleaning team,

Beautiful views of the mountains and an easy walk to the local shops, chipper and rail station, Such a lovely, well-stocked kitchen for prepping family meals at the ample island and a large dining table with a view of the mountains. The house was well appointed with comfy places to sit with a cuppa outdoors and enjoy the sunrise.
Parking was a bit of a fiddle, both because there is limited on-street parking, but also due to extensive roadworks taking place that week. However, there is parking available down the road (walk left from the front door towards the co-op) in the local lot if you can snag a spot. Unfortunately, there were no food recycling bags available at the local co-op so we could only recycle paper, glass, and cans. It was unseasonably warm and it got quite stuffy upstairs at night, but were able to buy a couple of nice portable fans to cool the bedrooms at the local hardware for a very reasonable price.

We had a wonderful stay at Hendre. Loved the stunning views and the spacious living areas in the beautifully decorated cottage. It's walking distance from the village shops and a local waterfall is just 5 minutes away. Really appreciated lots of great tips from the owners and comprehensive directions. We will hopefully be back again.

The views were fabulous from the rear of the house
No toilet on the ground floor for our 94 year old father - my fault I should have checked that house was disabled friendly. We managed but it’s something that I will check out before booking again.
Also double yellow lines outside on the narrow road so difficult unloading.

Location wise the property was central to a lot of activities and places. The cottage was lovely, spacious, very homely and warm. There were a couple of issues within the property on arrival but the owners were very responsive and fixed the issues we reported straight away! The beds were very comfortable and always had a good night sleep. Would definitely recommend staying here. Excellent value for money and an amazing space in the middle of Wales!

View and very well appointed. 4 TV's good cooking excellent equipment over all.
PARKING! Yellow lines at front door. Rear parking IMPOSSIBLE, locals used any spaces there and on a very steep gradient. Car park near but full by 17:00 ! Real shame!! Road noise in front bed rooms, it is on the A470 and close.
