Comfortable and cozy cottage- we loved it!

Beautiful location, lovely countryside and nice walks to the nearest village. Nice easy drive into Durham. Bed was so comfortable and kitchen well stocked of equipment.
Wifi was a little touch and go on a couple of occasions but didn't affect us too much.

We were upgraded to Cross Cottage which was beautifully decorated, warm, inviting and cozy. Lovely peaceful countryside and would have liked to have stayed longer. Country cottage close to all attractions.
Perfect in every way

The cottage had been decorated and furnished to a really high standard and was extremely comfortable. We enjoyed the view from the seating outside. The hosts had thoughtfully left biscuits and milk for us. There was also a supply of tea, coffee and sugar. It made a perfect base for a long weekend of sightseeing and relaxing. Even though it was on an active farm, it felt very private and peaceful.
A basket or shelf in the shower would have been helpful to hold shower gel, etc. Also, perhaps a thought to add grab-rails for anyone who appreciates a bit of help with balance. But those are minor comments - we were so pleased with the cottage overall and how comfortable and well-equipped it was.

Amazing little cottage, very warm and cosy AND clean.
Great facilities. Didn't actually meet up with hosts, but communicated several times by email, very hospitable. Def recommend and stay again if ever back in the UK.

An absolute gem ❤️ the location is beautiful and perfect for exploring Durham. Inside is beautifully decorated and furnished really thoughtfully - I can't believe they have a washing machine and a dishwasher! Everything was really well stocked, it was a really enjoyable stay.
Our only personal issue, was the beds were really hard and for us, it caused disruptive sleep. Obviously, mattresses are a really personal thing so this would not stop me from recommending this place! However, for us, the comfort was just not right.

Tranquil location, just a short drive from Durham. The accomodation itself is well furnished; the beds were firm and very comfortable. The hosts can be easily reached and are approachable!
Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

Space and quality of furnishings were great and location was perfect. The kitchen was well designed and had everything needed.
Bedrooms and bathrooms were hilariously small, but it’s a farm so not surprising, and not too bad for one or two people. The bedroom curtains didn’t close fully which allowed some light in and lacked privacy. The bedroom door had to be closed at night because the bed could be seen from the window in the front door which also wasn’t great for privacy.

Everything, cottage and location great.
Only problem was the en-suite doors, very noisy to open and close.

We were so happy with our stay here. The cottage was in a quiet location (close enough to Durham for us) and so close to the lovely little village of Brancepeth and its golf course. It had everything we needed, was super comfy, and it was lovelier still than the photos. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend and will stay here again when we next pass through Durham. Thank you!

nothing, but we were moved from hayloft cottage to sheep pen. don't know what hayloft would have been like.
everything. We were a small group of 3 girls. The cottage had everything we could have needed and was in a beautiful, scenic and quiet location, but in walking distance of pubs and cafes for food and drink. with CCTV outside, the whole place was amazing and wish we'd have stayed longer than 2 nights. with everything from a bath robes to netflix. was the perfect weekend. would definitely go back here anytime. the staff were so accommodating but also left us to it to enjoy our weekend. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for a relaxing girly weekend.

Beautiful, peaceful location. We stayed in Brooksides Byre - a change made by the host and one we were quite happy with. Very comfy beds, huge sitting room/diner/kitchen area. Host was quick to respond when we needed anything and gave useful advice about nearby sights. Big sky full of stars. Pretty walks right from the doorstep. Charming outside area with a table. Great powerful showers. Impressive huge castle just a few minutes walk away. Supermarket and chippy a short drive away. Location is wonderful for City of Durham and the moors. We loved returning from Durham to a secluded sanctuary. Highly recommend the owner's choice of Indian restaurant in Chester Le Street.
Dusty. Hard to cope with on a farm but someone should have popped in for a final dust before we arrived. I'm sure if we had asked we could have had a change of bedding but it would be useful if this was provided for a stay of nine nights. Strange rattling noise in the attic which apparently is due to the heating system. The pots and pans need to be replaced - non-stick surfaces worn away and some pans bashed out of shape. Luckily I only cooked once. Unheated towel rails mean towels stay damp for longer. The village of Brancepeth is pretty but has no heart - no pub, no shop. The modern pub in Brandon on the housing estate is pretty uninspiring. If you plan to explore Northumberland as well be prepared for long journeys and heavy traffic even during the day.

The standard of decor and furnishings and linens was very high. Everything looked new and clean. Lovely views and very peaceful.
Only thing that could be improved would be less noisy fans in en suites and some smaller microwave proof dishes and some local ordnance survey maps.
