Beautiful hotel stay, relaxing atmosphere, would love to return once minor issues resolved
We loved the feel and the renovations were done with incredible detail. The pool bar is a lovely touch and being able to venture up for a wine tasting is fantastic. The staff were really friendly and overall we felt very relaxed during our stay. The restaurant has a great variety of offerings and the room was really comfortable.
There are a few basic issues that at that price point aren’t really great. -TV in our room did not work or connect to anything so was pretty pointless to have. - we required a phone call to reception and the phone did not work and stated no service. - there is no welcome book/information about basics such as restaurant times, the vineyard itself, breakfast times etc. -no iron available in room - the description on bookings.com unfortunately doesn’t match the actual room, we had a balcony but certainly no Mountain View as advertised (it’s around the corner) and isn’t currently great overlooking the building site- I fully understand there’s no control on that but not having that in the advert description removes that expectation.

Did not meet expectation and was not worth the money.
The property itself is undeniably beautiful. The building has been thoughtfully restored to a high standard and the rooms are spacious and stylishly finished. The pool area, is immaculate and location/setting is excellent. I have no doubt that if we were to visit in a years’ time then we would have had a 5-star stay. However, on this occasion the stay was a long way from that standard and disappointed for several reasons:
The room itself had a number of problems: the TV wasn’t programmed, the air conditioning pushed around warm air rather than cooling the room, and several lights simply didn’t work. The staff we encountered were friendly and earnest, however, it was also clear that they hadn’t been fully briefed on their roles, which resulted in service that fell well below what you would expect from a hotel of this standard. At the pool, there were no towels available, nor was any bar service operating. Some of the food we ordered - paid for in addition to the room rate - was inedible. Only after we arrived did we learn that the hotel had been open for just a few days. This certainly explains the number of teething problems, but it was disappointing to realise we had effectively become test guests, without any communication beforehand or any test-guest prices to reflect the unfinished level of service. Another surprising inconvenience was the complete lack of luggage storage after checkout. For a hotel positioning itself as five-star, this is a basic expectation, and not having it meant we had to completely rearrange our plans for the day. What made these issues more disheartening was the response when we raised them. Despite addressing several concerns directly with the manageress on multiple occasions, she showed no interest in what we had to say and was noticeably unhelpful. Had we felt listened to - even if fixes weren’t immediate - many of the shortcomings would have been easier to forgive. In summary, this hotel has enormous potential thanks to its beautiful renovation and prime location, but it opened far too early and guests are bearing the brunt of the growing pains. With major improvements to service, communication, and basic operational readiness, it could become a truly excellent place to stay. As it stands, however, it fell well short of expectations.

Not worth £300 a night. Not worth £150.
The architecture is beautiful and the room was nicely decorated.
Shower didn’t work after one shower and took several hours for them to fix it, we were given one lavatory roll for a two day stay for 2 adults with no more given. The breakfast was like an airport lounge from a quality perspective and two orders of poached eggs took one hour to arrive. Having checked every ten minutes from the 30 minute point why it took so long I was told “our chef is very slow”.

Great place to stay - needs an evening restaurant
The estate itself is very pretty and exceptionally maintained. Hotel staff were very helpful and considerate. Overall facilities were great and quite up to the expectations we had.
The only real negative point I have is that there is no restaurant that is open after 18:00. This was unexpected and needs you to go into town which is not up to Newmark standards to be honest. Would only stay again if there would be a restaurant open in the evening.

Suitable as a one night layover.
Beautiful historic buildings and property is beautifully maintained. The room is nicely appointed albeit very small. We enjoyed a nice breakfast, very good coffee.
We found the fact that there is no restaurant or room service on a Sunday evening quite unfortunate. There was nothing open. There is nowhere to be on the property aside from our room, which was lovely but cramped. In terms of value for money there are other hotels in the area that offer much more for similar rates.
