Beautiful stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Batavia Boutique Hotel. The hotel has a lovely, relaxed vibe that immediately makes you feel comfortable and welcome. The room was amazing, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was beautiful. Breakfast was fantastic, highly recommend the eggs Benedict! We would definitely come back and can warmly recommend this hotel.

A little guest house with big warmth & kindness

Tucked away down a leafy street right in the heart of Stellenbosch. Batavia is a family operated establishment and is a very special place. My 80 year old father stayed here and was welcomed with smiles, opened arms and warm, kind hospitality. Like many guests he will return! His room was large with a separate kitchen and full bathroom (free standing bath) and close to both of Batavias pools. This little gem of a guest house is a minute’s walk from Dorp street where you’ll find many excellent shops, bars and restaurants catering to all tastes and budgets. Also, museums, churches & gardens which Dad enjoyed walking to and exploring on his own. Till next time! X

The wifi is exceptionally poor. Most of the time we had no to very little wifi access. For an establishment at the upper end of the market this is no longer a luxury but a necessity and so easy to implement

Characterful and lovely small boutique hotel with some design flaws with rooms that diminished the overall experience.

Convenience to Stellenbosch town, restaurants and facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Out room involved climbing stairs and the design meant a very tight space in the bedroom. There was a small sitting area downstairs that was not used.

Luxurious gem in the heart of Stellenbosch.

We were traveling as a family of 7 adults. Batavia's location was walking distance to shops and restaurants. Individual family members could do their own thing or we could do activities together. Themba, the Front of House Manager, was extremely hospitable. The breakfast was outstanding. Batavia Boutique Hotel is perfect for a business or holiday trip.

The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to assist. My daughter enjoyed the swimming pool on a hot Saturday. This was the best of all the accommodation we enjoyed on this holiday

It wasnt possible to open 2 suitcases at the same time. One piece of furniture was large but I couldnt balance my suitcase on it as it was narrow.

Only one night, which is ok as I wasn't settled.

Very friendly and helpful service and staff. comfortable bedding. Fresh bed linen and towels.

My room : No. 5 had a very strong "musty" smell. Not sure if it was from the antiques in the room or the Ostrich Skin furniture. It was so strong it gave me a headache. The main room had very little to no natural light and the room was over furnished, very cluttered. I guess this comes down to personal taste though.

Just Divine

A beautiful stay in the heart of Stellenbosch. The property is divine. Traditional Stellenbosch exterior with stylish, eclectic interior. The art, furniture and finishings are all quality. Staff were outstanding, attentive and warm. Bertie picked us up from Cape Town and dropped us back, as well as organised a really great wine tour. I could not recommend this boutique hotel more highly.

Beautiful Place!

This boutique hotel was spectacular. The attention to detail was amazing. It is impeccably decorated. The room was spacious, and had everything you need. We even had a small balcony. We had bathrobes slippers, electric plugs on both sides of the bed, mini bar, Nespresso, machine with milk included, toiletries, blow dryer,Safe. The soaking tub was amazing, and they even had bad salts so you could use them. You would get fresh vanity kits every day. The Wi-Fi wasn’t very good, and the TV wasn’t very good either. That is the only bad thing we have to say. The staff was amazing.Tembo was very attentive to anything we needed. The breakfast was amazing, and we probably had the best Egg Benedict we’ve ever had. you would get in and out of the property with a keypad code. The location couldn’t be perfect, a block away from all restaurants and everything else. The area was very quiet.

Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Stellenbosch. Walking distance to some great restaurants. Bed extremely comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. This is however not a 5 star hotel. It is 4 star at best.

Towels in the room were small and thin. Certainly not 5 star quality.
