Exceptional

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Kleine Zalze Lodge. The entire property is beautifully maintained, very safe, and set within a peaceful golf estate that made our time there truly relaxing. The pool area and hotel facilities were excellent, and the staff were consistently friendly, helpful, and attentive. Breakfast was delicious every morning, and our fridge was stocked with water. The complementary wine tasting was an extra treat. We also really appreciated the convenient shuttle service to the nearby Restaurant in the evenings — spectacular Sunsets great food a lovely touch that made our stay even more enjoyable. Stellenboosh was a short Taxi ride away and the Vineyards were all easy reached . Everything was of a very high standard. The only small area with room for improvement would be the laundry service, but this did not affect our overall experience in any way. Overall, we felt extremely well looked after and would gladly return. Highly recommended!

An Incredibly Relaxing Weekend Away!

Such a stunning place! Firstly, complimentary wine tasting vouchers (yes please) which we took advantage of whilst our room was being prepared. The room was perfect, equipped with all the basic amenities you'd expect, and the bed was huge! The breakfast at the restaurant was delicious - they had a hot menu option with several dishes to choose from, as well as a continental breakfast option. Then the absolute HIGHLIGHT of the stay was the pool. Lots of space to relax, umbrellas, and even complimentary towels to use. You're also able to order drinks and snacks which will be brought to you while you're there (they provide a WhatsApp number for guests so if you don't see any staff around, pop them a message - it's as easy as that). It was fantastic. The views were breathtaking and it just gave you a whole tranquil, I'm-really-on-holiday type vibe.

Maybe the shower head in the bathroom could have been better? But even then I'm reaching to find something. It was honestly all great, and we had a wonderful time.

Awesome two nights, loved the breakfasts with awesome views. Excellent security. Close to Stellies university. Fun wine tasting, ordered some more wine for home. Lovely supper at the Club house.

Good location and facilities but with significant room for improvement.

The property location is excellent and the views are to die for.

The room was smelling of sewage for some reason. We asked them to clean the room and there was an improvement but the stench came back. They changed us to another room . The room was ok initially but developed the same issue. The restaurant at the lodge closes at 5 pm and so you cannot have dinner on the premises. There is a restaurant at the golf club but it’s quite some distance which means you need a car, which we didn’t have.

Charming room

The environment in the middle of a vineyard, despite the winter, is really very charming.

Of course it was winter, but it was still very cold, despite the reversible air-conditioning, the room was cold and the soundproofing was really inadequate. And don't forget to clean the air vents in the bathroom.

The location is great, very clean and a great stay.

The included breakfast was not edible at all. Ended up paying at the clubhouse for better food than the included breakfast. Recommend having golf cart throughout the day to drives guests to the clubhouse and not just at night

A nice stay

The location is stunning, with beautiful views of the golf course and mountains, and a particularly lovely vineyard. We also enjoyed the pleasant breakfast setting, just a short walk away. The wine tasting included in our stay was a highlight, and the staff at both the tasting and breakfast were excellent.

However, the rooms themselves need improvement. While they appeared adequate, the bathroom was dated, featuring a shower head with poor water pressure and slow hot water.

Been disturbed by arrival in neighbouring unit of drunk woman , screeming , laughting and shouting and arrival of males inviting the ladies to still go out . This all after 11.00 pm and till late

Great Location Spoilt by Age and Smell

Shiraz 3 is located on the lower floor. Felt like going to a dungeon to reach the front door. The view from the room looked onto the pool (20m away) and a splendid 180 degree mountain scenery views. The king size bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a reasonable size. The breakfast room is a distance from the room but a buggy service is provided without charge. The breakfast has a cold section and a hot menu that provides ample food to eat. An onsite restaurant is being built and is expected to be completed in late 2025 so there is no evening onsite dinning available at present. The old settee was surprisingly comfortable to sit on.

The room and bathroom are typical of an age gone by and sadly wear and tear is very evident. Several sections of the white grout between the shower 1 inch square (25mm) tiles are grey black. There are no spare power points in the main room and only one in the bedroom under the luggage stool. There is refuse (garbage) odour just outside the room door leading to the entrance stairs.

Friendly, professional service and comfortable stay

Welcoming warm and friendly reception. Beautiful view, balcony, functional room with fridge. Breakfast was served in a beautiful area, and complimentary wine tasting a welcome surprise. The building is designed in an interesting way to keep rooms private and avoid the usual long hotel corridors.

We enjoyed our stay at De Zalze, it provided a good base to tour Stellenbosch and the wine lands.

It’s very much a golfers place. The only Kleine Zalze restaurant does not open for dinner so only eating option on site is the golf club - great food but quite functional
