The room was extremely clean and big. It was a nice room and very comfortable bed.

Our car broke down and we had to get trains and check in late. The listing noted check in between 15.00 to 22.00 which was fine but on talking to staff in the Inn they said they wanted to close at 21.00. I pointed out that check in was till 22.00 but they argued that it wasn't and initially said there was nothing they could do. After saying we would call booking.com they offered to give a code for a key box but said they couldn't message clear instructions. We asked them to recommend another pub so we could a least have a drink and they recommended something a 30 minutes walk away. Which again felt like we were being fobbed off. We contacted the owner who eventually got back to us but wasn't particularly helpful saying they didn't check messages as they weren't a hotel. Given that we paid hotel prices I didn't think that comment was appropriate. I also mentioned that closing early should be in the listing giving us the option to book somewhere else. Later on the owner sent key drop instructions via booking.com by which time we were at a friends house for a drink, given the pub was closed. I understand pubs being quiet and wanting to close early but guests need this information before they book. And staff should be made aware of check in times rather than doing what suits their personal timetable. We werr not impressed by the customer service and patronising tone of the staff.
