Zucchero Apartment Brugge

Location was excellent, just 2 or 3 minute walk to the main Markt Square and the Belfry. Close to restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. Kitchen was spacious and plenty of everything needed. Plenty of space, all the rooms were big with lots of wardrobe and cupboard space. Nicely decorated and the bathrooms and kitchen were both modern and fairly newly refurbed.

The property is an old house and the stairs are very steep. This is not something that is identified anywhere and is quite important if you have someone in your group who is less mobile. There are a steep set of stairs as soon as you enter the property to carry your luggage up and they get steeper and steeper as you go up the floors! The last set are particularly narrow and high. This is fine, but some warning would be beneficial. The top floor has a wonderful bathroom which has obviously been renovated recently. A nice shower, a separate bath and two gorgeous sinks - but no toilet! So you have to walk down the steepest set of stairs to get to a toilet. We couldn't understand why on earth they wouldn't just put a toilet up there! It was also advertised as 2 double bedrooms and a sofa bed. However, when I asked for bedding for the sofa bed as we were a group of 3 friends, I was advised that the sofa bed was classed as an extra bed and I would be charged €30 PER NIGHT for the use of a couple of sheets and a pillow. This would have been €120 for our 4 night stay which is absolutely disgusting and quite frankly, greedy. To us, if the sofa bed is advertised as part of the property this is not an extra bed. An extra bed would be asking them for an actual extra bed for an extra person! (We went and bought a sheet for €15 - an expense we weren't happy about but still cheaper than what they were asking) So if you are 2 couples then this is a great property, with a bathroom for each room (minus a toilet upstairs!) but if you want the use of the sofa bed, then take your own bedding! This in itself brought our rating down to a 7 rather than an 8 that the property probably is. It is also quite noisy. You have to expect some noise when you are so close to the main tourist area, but what you don't realise is that the streets are cobbled which amplifies the noise by quite a bit!

Spacious superb flat in the heart of Brugge. Clean, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The host had been in regular contact and available throughout our stay.

The checkout time could be extended.

A few more utensils would have been handy. No tongs etc.

Location was great, the stairs are pretty unsafe, very steep and narrow for getting luggage to bedrooms. Towels were very tired. One bed very uncomfortable. Didn’t expect to pay tourism tax in cash before we left.

As above and would have been nice to be supplied with kitchen basics.
