Okawati is the essence of Balinese charm and hospitality

The room was so beautifully decorated with traditional carvings and four-poster Balinese bed. The bathroom was spacious with good shower facilities. The balcony was a delightful place to sit, overlooking the lush garden.

All in all a good, clean hotel in a fantastic area. Great staff, good breakfast and lovely pool.

Location is perfect, walking distance to major attractions, rice paddys, ridge walk, shops, bars, restaurants. Just off the main road but quiet. A nice relief from the busy atmosphere Ubud has become. The staff are very helpful and happy! The pool is a refreshing and welcome sight at the end of the day.

The hotel is looking a little 'tired' however very clean and has everything you need. Some window screens had minor holes but if you are an insect phobe, this could be problematic. Some doors were not closing properly. The entry doors have had multiple locks installed and now down to a big key and padlock. The hotel could do with a little tlc. Pool area could do with some repairs to coping etc.

I enjoyed my stay and would absolutely come back again.

The breakfast was ok but I don’t care for pancakes or eggs. Most people seemed to really like them. I ended up eating toast and yogurt. The yogurt with honey was excellent and the toast was good. The location was convenient to everything and I was able to walk to everything I wanted to do. The staff was amazing and very kind and helpful.

I had to walk in from the bigger road. It is not far and it was safe, it was just a surprise and I wish I had known ahead of time that the car could not get to the actual hotel.

Traditional boutique hotel in central Ubud

Location was good, walking distance to the centre of Ubud, but no street noise once inside the room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice outdoor seating area with very comfortable sunbed. Thick bathtowels. Bful traditional Balinese furniture and bed.

Bathroom outdated and too dark. Torn curtain in front of window and very old bathmat. Loose toilet seat. Torn mosquito net. No safety box as advertised.

Conveniently located in central Ubud, near the sights, the shops and the restaurants, yet very serene and relaxing ambiance, with a lovely courtyard featuring lush tropical vegetation. The rooms are beautifully decorated in the traditional Balinese style and the staff is always polite and helpful

The bathrooms need some updating, especially the showers. The location in a side alley means that you can’t drive directly to the hotel, and suitcases need to be carried for a stretch of the road. The water in the pool could have been cleaner

Great spot!

Staff were incredibly kind during my stay, they assisted me with my luggage to the room and looked after all questions I had. The breakfast was really tasty every morning and I recommend anyone to order the pancakes! The pool area was great also for cooling off after the hot days. The hotel is very centrally located in the town of Ubud so you can easily walk everywhere but you're off the main street to avoid any noise at night.

It's my second ( or third ) return . I've been coming to Bali for 20 years with , family , mate or solo . Mrs Okawati and staff provide genuine and sincere Balinese hospitality . The property has old School Dutch Indonesian Craftsmen built buildings and outside kitchen area ( option to eat breakfast on your spacious balcony or in your room .) The location is superb and a 2 minute stroll along heritage buildings via a small market area to Monkey Forest road and the amazing Ibu Rai Warung ( restaurant ) which I rate 10/10 for meals ( I'm a foodie ), atmosphere and engaged service . The property is close to nature and the river ( can't see) and far enough to give you silence unlike many properties this close to the action . Bathrooms are spacious . Customer service - because it's a host operated business the team are on top of everything . I've never experienced urgent attention to the smallest issue . Mrs Okawati has a kind nature and is seen at breakfast with her beaming smile and then at around 10.00 am you can notice her praying after placing the offerings around the property and a quick chat at breakfast offers a personal and caring vibe . The location again is the best close to the Palace, Markets , restaurants and spas . I was going to give up in Ubud as it's got busier and I couldn't get in here last year and stayed elsewhere and all I got was exhaust carbon smells . You are in nature with no odours at Okawati . I've fallen many in love with UBUD again and some days I rarely left the complex . Bathrooms are big with modern shower multi fittings . There are racks to dry clothes inside and out . The furniture makes you feel like royalty and the carves 4 poster has a perfect undamaged mosquito net ( no mossies on this trip ). The pool is clean and perfectly positioned with many outdoor lounges ( you will always get a lounge ). Mrs Okawati flower arrangements are next level .

Pleasant few days

Very nice person at the checkout reception and whenever I needed a new water bottle they were there. Room and bathroom were surprisingly big.

The breakfast you need to select daily it seems as I only got breakfast the first morning, they seemed to forget on the second day so I just left early and ate outside. The room smelt like mold, like they didn't spend enough time airing out the place before my arrival. The window and the door has some slight gaps in them so bring bug spray or end up covered in bites like one of my legs.

Central, rustic hotel

Property is centrally located near bars, restaurants and shops. Staff very friendly. Hotel garden grounds were exquisitely charming. We were busy and so didn’t use the pool. Hotel has a rustic charm, with traditional carvings in the rooms and around the grounds.

Breakfast was good - especially the banana pancake however was a little limited choice wise and it was also necessary to order the night before and specify the time required.

Great location for central Ubud

Great quiet location down a track and off the busy roads but still close enough to walk to all central Ubud restaurants, markets, temples, etc. Breakfast is timed but very nice, especially the pancakes. Family property - owners and staff all very helpful and friendly. Rapid, cheap laundry service.

We had a room with a metal roof which was noisy during the heavy rain we had. Most do not so depends on your room.

Quiet, relaxing oasis within walking distance of center of town, great value!

The hotel was a quiet, relaxing oasis in the center of town. Walking distance from major attractions, loads of restaurants and shopping, and yet a place to retreat in the afternoon / evening to refresh. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and it was a pleasure to chat with the owner herself. A note for those travelers who have a lot of luggage / limited mobility - the hotel is a short walk from the main road, which is where the car will drop you off.

Lovely central oasis for perfect stay in Ubud

Booked this place to be in the centre of Ubud and it didn’t disappoint. Despite its position it’s surprisingly quiet. Nice pool. Breakfast was good - can choose omelette/eggs on toast plus fruit or yoghurt. Nice pool. It’s owned and run by an old lady called Okawati who is lovely. She obviously takes a lot of pride in the trees and plants as you are constantly surrounded by greenery. Nice patios outside each villa nice for a beer in the evening. We had two bungalows one of them was a bit tired but both clean and comfortable. Very traditional in style which was nice too. Definitely recommend a stay if you’re looking for a central, relaxed, green and traditional accommodation. Also there’s a fridge where you help yourself to beers and write down your room number which was great and not expensive. Plus fridge in each room.

Okawati & her family & staff are really wonderful. The hotel grounds are kept very tidy & I loved Okawati's fresh flowers all around the hotel & on our outdoor table. The hotel feels very Balinese. Breakfast is very simple but adequate. We really appreciated Okawati keeping our luggage safely in her house when we checked out but went adventuring. The location is right in the heart of Ubud, but 2 mins walk down a walking lane so it was very peaceful & quiet. The pool looked lovely & clean but we didn't use it. The room was very large & well furnished & the bed comfortable by Asian standards. The safe did not work. Yes, we would recommend okawati. 😁

Our Downstairs room smelled of damp & mould. (we were in 10b). okawati"s son was proud to show us the original upstairs rooms, build by his father in early 90s (guests had not yet checked in) which did not smell & had beautiful balinese features. Book far ahead & request an upstairs room. 😁

Location was great: central, yet tucked away and quiet. Not too big. We really liked the pool and the decorations everywhere.

The breakfast was not very varied. You could really only choose the egg dishes. The other options where really not enough. We also did not enjoy having to fix the time every evening.

Good for a short stay

Great location just a 10 minute walk from the monkey forest or even less. Waking up and opening your door to a lovely garden was great. Staff was so nice and accommodating.

Old rooms musty smell, shower location in bathroom to toilet didn’t make much sense. Would not stop me from staying for a short time as the staff was great.

The room and facility were old. Breakfast was sub par. The curtains were white and all the light came in. Could hear the neighbors talking though the walls.
