Lovely local stay and super convenient for our onward plans

Zum Franziskaner is situated in Grainau, a short distance from Zugspitze, which we visited the morning after our one night's stay. The room was a good size, clean and modern. The bed side table was equipped with a wireless charger built in which I have personally never seen before! Continental breakfast was lovely with fresh bread and hot drink pre-ordered when we arrived. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Parking is on the street, which was fine for us as we only had a small car, but if you're driving something bigger/longer like an estate you might have issues. Cash was required for the tourism tax which wasn't ideal as we try to stay cashless when travelling these days, but fair enough, we stopped and got some when we were in town anyway.

Very friendly staff, warm and comfortable room, simple but good breakfast

The staff was very friendly and welcoming! In autumn, the room was warm with the heating working well. Upon request, we were provided with a kettle, tea, and a hairdryer. Breakfast was simple European style, but enough to start the day. On a rainy day, they kindly lent us an umbrella. The location is convenient, with a bus stop, pizzerias, and coffee shops nearby.

All good. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would happily come back again.

Stunning, traditional, cosy!

I absolutely loved my stay there! Very cosy, it felt like home since the start. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Breakfast is delicious with traditional Bavarian bread! From the windows you can be surprised by stunning views to the Zugspitz! Wow! It’s very close to the Eibsee, offering breathtaking lake scenery! Grainau is truly charming with many restaurants, historic buildings, and the locals are very welcoming! The whole area is culturally rich, the landscape is perfect for hiking, with plenty of different activities to explore every day. Aw! I miss Grainau already! Looking forward to coming back! Herzlichen Dank! ❤️

The hotel is very nice and cozy. The location is just amazing! We were really close to the zugspitze seilbahn and the town of Grainau is really beautiful.

Everything you need

Christian is very friendly, breakfast is good en the rooms are nice and clean. We were during the holidays and they made everything so nice, a letter in our room to welcome us, along with a bunch of sweets. And the breakfast was really nicely decorated. Private parking and a basement for your ski's and shoes. It's everything that you need. We even got some pretzels for on the road when we left. Thanks for that! Vielen Dank für alles!

Only thing that could be a little bit better was Wifi 😜.. with everyone in the room and online it was a bit (much) slow.. but hey, if that are your problems you have a pretty good life, right? 😉

The location is great. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. Everything was organized perfectly including a personal parking lot reserved just for us. The rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast is very good. We were even presented with two tickets for the local bus lines for two days of our stay. I don't know if it was the hotel's initiative or the local tourist authoritie's, but it any case it was very nice. BTW, non-German tourists, pay attention, that you must wear FFP2 mask in order to get on the bus!

The person in the service was extremely nice and kind, always with a calm voice and had everything super well organized. And when it comes to the breakfast, it was delicious!

I have been using this hotel annually for around 5 years. The owner Christian Rötting is always polite, pleasant and helpful. The view from my room is sensational and the breakfast choice more than adequate. For the price an unequivocal recommendation

It was a lovely stay! The room was spacious but the restroom was comparably smaller. The staff were very friendly and eager to help with any questions we had. The breakfast was wholesome. The hairdryer and kettle are not available in the rooms and you will have to request from the receptionist. Thanks for the stay!

Ideal for holidays in the Zugspitz area

The hotel is located close to the central square in Grainau. Each room has its parking. My single room was quiet spacy with a balcony and offered a nice view on the Waxenstein and the Zugspitze. The owner is very friendly and helpful and has a lot of good suggestions for activities. The breakfast buffet offers a variety of choices. The price/quality ratio is perfect.

For ecology, it would be better that marmelades and honey are made available in common dispensers and not by individual portions.

Very happy with this accommodation, next to the bus stop for Garmish/Eibsee, owner was very helpful answering questions online and in the hotel and even prepared a breakfast bag since I had to leave before breakfast started. I also got a discount card for local attractions which included free bus rides. Very good value for money

Very careful with corna rule, super work of organization. Room is not big but very cosy, with everything needed for travelers. Location is super! From window could see zugzpitze when weather is nice. They provide guest card for local bus, very convinet for almost all the potential attractions. Village is small, restaurant are very near this hotel.

I was very positively surprised!

Location is excellent. The view outside of my window to the mountains was amazing and the stuff is heartwarming and very helpful. Breakfast and covid 19 hygiene was very good and fully thought through. I will come back for sure! Thank you!
