Outstanding!

We are two Canadians on a 2 week long bike tour along the Loire. This boutique hotel was such a pleasant surprise. The hotel is beautiful, the interior decorating was creative, interesting and fun. The couple who own it were outstanding hosts, giving lots of excellent touring advice and often checking in to make sure all our needs were taken care of. The breakfast showcased their pride and attention to detail. The cheeses, meats, eggs, bread and pastries were all unique and from local producers and it was the only place with fresh pressed grape juice. Great bed, bedding and towels too. This is a hidden gem!

Excellent, well thought out hotel

The place was so well set up ! We travel a lot and all the little things make a difference like extra hooks in bathroom , small lights and plugs next to beds , coffee and hot water maker … etc . Also Emanuel let us check in early and made the stay easy for us . We will be back . Note : this is a wonderful hotel but it’s not a luxury hotel, just clean , safe , quiet and well thought out !

No AC which was not a big deal since we were able to leave windows open at night

Great place to stay in Chinon.

We were greeted very nicely after biking in the rain. We were able to store our bikes in a locked garage with plugs to recharge the batteries. When we bought a bottle of wine at the local tasting cave, the owner offered a wine opener and glasses for the room. Very nice breakfast with fresh, local juices, yogurts, etc. Everything done with nice attention.

Lovely boutique hotel in Chinon

Cute hotel run by a couple, located by the main quay in Chinon. Rooms were comfortable and looked newly renovated. Delicious breakfast with local produce. We had a shared outdoor terrace with 3 other rooms, but it was a pity that it was too warm during our stay to enjoy it.

Really nice boutique style hotel in a great position in Chinon - we would be happy to return.

Check-in was very easy and the hotel owner spent time showing us around, recommending local restaurants and taking us to our rooms which were in a separate building. Very clean rooms with a lovely secluded courtyard and seating area. On-street car parking was directly opposite the hotel. Breakfast was extremely good.

A superb modern hotel in a perfect position to visit Chinon and surrounding area.

We loved the Gabriel Hotel. We had a huge room in a quiet annexe, with a small courtyard with shaded seated area. The room was spotless and we loved the modern decor. The bathroom was a good size with a great shower. Due to the extreme heat the owners had provided us with a fan for the 4 nights we were there. Breakfast was buffet style and had a good choice. The hotel is right by the river. There is plenty of free parking close by, and it’s a nice 10 min walk into the centre. The owners are lovely and very friendly and helpful. They recommended a chateau to visit that we hadn’t heard of, and it was one of our favourites. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

They accommodated all our needs re mobility and the room was large and comfortable. The reception and breakfast area was lovely and reflected the owners. The owners were very helpful and accomodating offering advice when asked. The breakfast was very good and offered all you needed. Great place to stop if you are visiting the Chinon area.

The room was up only the one flight of stairs, yay! Neat and tidy a homely feel very adequate. A little noise from other rooms but nothing untoward. Breakfast was quite plentiful and a good variety of breads cereals tea coffee juice etc.

Two restful quiet nights in a major Loire valley tourist centre

We were given a superb quiet room on the side of a beautiful courtyard where we could sit outside and sip Loire valley Rose wine in a private garden well off the busy road. This out-house 30 metres from the main hotel was located in an old limestone building which had been restored to an excellent standard including the bathroom and bedroom facilities. Car parking involved using the public parking by the main road so was exposed though Chinon is a safe town. When we arrived on a mid-August Sunday evening the medieval allies or streets were crowded and all the restaurants seemed to be pre-booked and full so planning is needed in mid-summer. Chinon is a beautiful medieval town with many walking streets (though some are steep and cobbled leading up testing slopes to the castle high above the lower town and the River Vienne so be warned!). This historic town justifiably attracts visitors in large numbers. On the following Monday we enjoyed the street market and a restaurant meal watching the busy stall holders at work chopping fish and meat joints or serving wonderful loaves of bread and preparing bunches of flowers.

Only the car parking arrangement - the bedroom and breakfast were excellent and good value.
