Excellent, quirky, eccentric service (which appealed to us) but poor food in an otherwise v good hot

Service at the restaurant was good but the meal was relatively poor.

The chef obviously tried to offer adventurous cuisine but had a rather heavy hand. The ‘beef ravioli’ with heavy and slightly congealed sauce was a disaster But we appreciated the advice on wine which was good

Two nights in Chateau de Namur

Very quiet area, lush and green. Free parking Old style hotel , room and bed very comfortable. Food was excellent. Had lunch and breakfast. Staff were lovely. It is a training school which adds a lot of charm .

A good distance from town. There is a cable car about ten min walk away which closes in the evening around 6pm I think. No signage to cable car so I had difficulty finding it even with the map provided by the hotel.. There are plenty of taxis though and reception called one for us. The cable car is nice to take during the day for river and citadel views. It brings you into the center of town.. The reception area and bar could be much nicer as are very basic. It let's the grand old building down.

Good for short stay

The building is very beautiful and facilities and rooms were okay

My room price was €109. They send a mail after you book that there is €100 deposit required. So I pay €209 upon checking in thinking everything is settled. Then suddenly upon check-out I had to pay €109 again. So actually a deposit of €209 was required and not 100 like they said.

Disappointing

We booked a night there ,because it sounded as though it would be good , a bit of luxury something different .the castle was big ,spacious the garden lovely .They offered us a free drink water flavoured with fruit and an apple stamped with the name of the Hotel on it when we arrived .There was a coffee machine in the room and a free bottle of water but no bottle opener . The staff were fairly helpful

We got bombarded with information on booking in ,about a 45 euro bottle of champagne in the room and other extras and we needed to give credit card details so we would be charged if we damaged or took any thing from a mini bar in the room without writing it down and a housekeeper would check the room after we left to check All we wanted to do was relax after a long day we were tired and hot ,but we felt unwelcome . The room was dated and shabby ,we had booked a twin but we were given a large double ,the bed side tables were stained and gross .The champagne fridge and mini bar fridge was very noisy ,it keeps you awake .It doesn't tell you when you book the Hotel ,yes it's in a park but up a very steep hill .

beautiful castle in a wonderful setting. High above the city that's reachable by cable car. Staff were very helpful and available at all hours

Great location over looking Namur, dramatic building, bed and bedding excellent although quite small room Good food, enthusiastic young staff ( training college on the same grounds)

Junior suite annex is small and poorly furnished, chairs unbelievably uncomfortable, needs up grading, some noise through the air conditioning ducts early evening. The price o/n is good but breakfast not included and was some what limited for the cost

Great stay

It's a beautiful building in a great location right at the top of the citadel. The city of Namur is within walking distance, a nice hike down the hill. You can also choose to take the cable car down, just remember it doesn't go up after quite early in the evening

Impressive Chateau

Lovely building and super room. It was a novelty to stay at a place like this.

Whilst fine for us, the walk into and back from town won’t suit those who don’t enjoy a hike. Pretty steep and a vigorous climb.

The chateau it's self is beautiful building with good restaurant and breakfast.

The room was small, dark and dusty. Almost no day light. They should pay more attention to cleaning. Every towel we got was with unwashed stains. Mirror heating in the bathroom switched on & off itself, room got extremely hot due to it. The location is not the best. Returning back later in the dark (in the winter 6pm) means walking through muddy pathes without public lighting.

Exceptional

It is a beautiful Hotel outside and inside. Their restaurant food is delicious and good service from the students who served us. The only thing we found delicious is the transport from the hotel to the city centre. Late night we took taxi because walking to the hill is quite challenging. Other than that everything is perfect.
