Beautiful building, superbly situated and with one of the best restaurants on this trip. First the restaurant. The food was honest, incredibly tasty and superbly cooked without all the elaborate plating of usual fine dining. We had a few of those on this trip, and enjoyed them; but this food just made us smile and happy. Every component had a wonderful taste and was cooked to perfection. I think it is staffed by many of the pupils at the nearby Hotel School. Their professionalism and attention was perfect. When they can relax into the friendliness and read a customer they will all succeed.
The hotel was a disappointment, well the room was. It was sold with a sitting area which was a small unusable area with a shelf (mostly holding mini bar extras) acting as a desk for a single hard chair. There was a television in that room but no means of actually sitting and watching it. The bedroom was fine but only a single comfortable chair and we’re too old to have one or the other sitting on a lap. Oddly if they had removed the pointless table and put another comfortable seat in its place we would probably have gone along with that as an acceptable seating area. The other place was unusable and would have just been a quirk. Rather than reply to this comment go and see how you would sit in that room and watch TV. The hotel staff were delightful, professional and helpful. It’s a really beautiful place to stay; it just needs some honest thinking about what they’re selling as a room.

The building and setting are amazing. Large room, restaurant meal was good.
The pillows were awful.

We booked a night there ,because it sounded as though it would be good , a bit of luxury something different .the castle was big ,spacious the garden lovely .They offered us a free drink water flavoured with fruit and an apple stamped with the name of the Hotel on it when we arrived .There was a coffee machine in the room and a free bottle of water but no bottle opener . The staff were fairly helpful
We got bombarded with information on booking in ,about a 45 euro bottle of champagne in the room and other extras and we needed to give credit card details so we would be charged if we damaged or took any thing from a mini bar in the room without writing it down and a housekeeper would check the room after we left to check All we wanted to do was relax after a long day we were tired and hot ,but we felt unwelcome . The room was dated and shabby ,we had booked a twin but we were given a large double ,the bed side tables were stained and gross .The champagne fridge and mini bar fridge was very noisy ,it keeps you awake .It doesn't tell you when you book the Hotel ,yes it's in a park but up a very steep hill .
