It’s very noisy on Broad Street, all night long! It’s not anyone’s fault but if your room is street facing it is loud.

Basic clean guest house in excellent central location. Good value for money.

Dreadful- filthy and not fit for purpose.

Because of mobility issues, I asked for a lower room when booking. I received confirmation email. On arrival, I had been put on the top floor. When I queried this and asked for a room on the lower floor as promised, the staff said there were no other rooms and smirked. No offer to assist me to the room. I understood there would some stairs and knew this when booking but given that they had told me I would be on a lower floor, I didn’t expect to be put on the top floor. The room looked like it had been furnished from a thrift shop. Nothing matched. There were holes in the lamp shade. The net curtain was torn. The handle on the wardrobe fell off if you touched the wardrobe. The hooks on the back of the bathroom door looked like they were about to drop off. The shower hose had a large hole so showering wasn’t great. There was a blood stain on the mattress protector. The room was dreadful as were the staff. I couldn’t sleep for fear of what I would do in the event of a fire. The fans were filthy.

Great location in town, comfy room perfect for a stopover or longer stay. Nice staff and nice room. Was a good time and would recommend.

the incident with the recepcionisthas spoiled my visit.

Location

The man that was on reception when I checked in was very rude, he was asking me for a passport, and didn't like my spanish ID, he even asked meif I had a brithish passport. Living more than 11 years inthe UK this is the first time it happened, also he took my ID and did a copy, something that I believe it is not legal, he coudl ask me for and ID check, but any official and recognised document should work for that.

There is no lift and a very steep narrow staircase just to get to reception. Depending on where your room is you may have more stairs to climb.

Good location and comfortable bed

Very basic, run down and dirty room. Labelled as 4 star hotel on door. This is a 3 star guest house at best. Effort should be put into quality of rooms as this is all they offer, all elements of room feel dirty and incohesive.

A very welcoming and convenient place to stay, thank you.

Very good central location. Upstairs one floor to Reception but staff were quick to carry our luggage. We had a lovely big room overlooking the street. A little Christmas market outside our windows and easy walking to sights (University colleges, Ashmolean etc). Discounted breakfast available next door. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Friendly hotel in good location

The location was excellent, right in the centre within easy walking distance of museums and shops. The room was lovely and large, bathroom clean with plenty of hot water and toiletries provided. Bed was comfy. Kettle in room with an excellent selection of teas and coffee, plus mineral water and biscuits. Staff were helpful and friendly.

My room was at the front of the building and there was a lot of street noise during the night as there is only single glazing. But was fine with earplugs.

Lovely place to stay

Fabulous location,extremely helpful and welcoming staff. The staff helped take are cases up to our room for us when we arrived and brought them down again when we left. And they sorted our taxi out when we needed them. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Me and my mum stayed here for 2nights. The only downside was that there was a lot of stairs and they were extremely steep. My mums almost 80 and it was a challenge for her.

Fabulous location, friendly staff and spacious, quirky rooms.

The location was stunning, right in the centre of Oxford and everywhere was in walking distance. While there were stairs to the rooms, the friendly staff carried the luggage and time we needed them to. Check-in was easy and seamless. Very clean.

This was a clean and well-maintained apartment. The bed was comfortable and the linen good quality. The bathroom is spacious and clean. The accommodation is centrally located so very convenient for exploring the sights of Oxford. Staff are responsive and helpful.

Really friendly staff, and a fantastic location. A kettle with lots of tea and coffee choices in the room, and great toiletries. It is not a luxury hotel, but had everything I needed for a great stay.

Amazing guesthouse for exploring Oxford

Room was clean, friendly, and comfortable, the location was amazing, I was attending an event in Oxford and it was about 5 minutes up the road which was very practical. Check-in and out were both quick and efficient, staff was friendly and professional.

Very small thing, but as my room was right by the reception/stairs it was ever so slightly hectic and noisy outside my room. It wasn't a massive problem for me, it was just present enough for me to take note.

Very comfortable bed. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I requested a room with a bath and was given one. Very central location.

Noisy flushing unit attached to the toilet. TV was fixed to the wall at a funny angle. Water was not particularly hot when running a bath.

Great location and spacious rooms. The bed was very comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities were handy. Friendly staff.

There was quite a strong smell in the room (maybe paint?), and there was also a wet patch on the carpet on arrival.

Great location, spacious room with lovely extra little details, no meals provided but discount cards for next door coffee shop and Italian deli cafe were provided. Had a street facing room so had lovely views. Lovely bathroom. Reception staff were super helpful and courteous

Location

Reception up steep stairs which made it very difficult for elderly people to get to reception. Staff were helpful but only after checking in. Ok if you are travelling light but not recommended if you have baggage.

Terribly expensive, but still almost worth of money!

The most central location in Oxford, still relatively quiet. The uppermost rooms and their views are charming. Coffee and tea in the room is nice.

Terribly expensive for the quality. In Greece, this kind of room would cost 50-75 euros per night, here it was more than 200! This is not hotel's fault of course, as in Oxford all the hotels are expensive. TV screen was smaller than in hotel rooms usually. But who comes to Oxford to watch TV anyway :) As a curiosity: it was always a surprise what the cleaners had done for the soap. One day they had taken the only-once-used soap and replaced it with a brand new one, the other day they had taken all the unused soaps and shamppoos without replacing them at all. :D

Stained carpet (dark red/brown droplets..?) loud (yet good!) aircon, room is aging, several old unused wallplugs throughout, bed decent but old.

Doesn't live up to the 4-star rating

We liked the location, 4 minutes away from the Bodleian library.

Not so clean. The fan had layers of dust, that we took the time to remove because we felt we were breathing it when the fan was functioning. Also, we booked it specifically because it listed air-con among its services but we only had a (dusty) fan and a warm room. That's not what we paid for. A 4-star hotel should do better than that. Luckily we only stayed one night and had to leave in a rush, so we skipped the complaining. Also, there is nowhere to put products in the shower, only the floor.

The location was fantastic, just nearby the main touristic spots. The bathroom & room had a decent size, and there was a fan & portable A/C that were useful.

The steep steps to enter the property and absence of elevator made it a bit difficult for us coming with a heavy luggage.

Attractive, comfortable hotel, good value in a superb location, and very helpful staff

The location is perfect, as within easy walking distance of the Holywell Music Room. The room was lovely, spacious and with a very nice bathroom, with a bath, not just a shower. Nice selection of beverages and biscuits in the room. Nice to get the vouchers for breakfast and the Italiamo too

Of course it would be ideal if there were parking but that's not practicable
